You guys need to hear the full album version of this song, it’s over 6 minutes long. The version you reacted to (quite well, by the way!) is missing much of the story.

My father grew up in the Big Band era, Glen Miller, etc. He wasn’t a rock n roll fan…Except he LOVED the Eagles and he LOVED this song. It was one of the few songs he would turn up and actually sing to. He loved this song and Take It Easy as well.

I suspect because this, like several others in the 1970s, was an example of the Eagles' country music hits that were only released on the popular music charts. When the Eagles formed, as I learned from a documentary, they planned on playing country or rock and roll music as they both largely used the same instruments. It was because of this country and western sound that first attracted me to the Eagles when I was a young man. Today, these songs are like seeing an old friend.
All of Don Henley's songs tell a story. He's a Wordsmith.
Yeah, there's a whole verse missing in this song. The verse after the one that ends with "She is heading for the cheatin' side of town", tells of her encounter with her lover and how she swears that soon they'll always be together, really pulls the story together. This version doesn't really make any sense because of the missing second verse. Well, maybe sometime later you might want to check out the complete version. This was still a cool reaction video, thanks!

There is also another verse missing that has "She thinks about a boy she knew in school". The full version is over 6 minutes long and the new remastered version is only 4:15 minutes long.
@@mightybean7840 Yeah, that's what I was referring to in the other comment when I said "She was trying to understand how things got the way they did" , it was after the part where the songs goes "She pulls the shade and hangs her head to cry", right before the part "My, oh my, you sure know how to arrange things.", Yep, they really chopped it up.

Glenn Frey was the co founder of The Eagles, beautiful voice & great guitarist. Frey died in New York on January 18, 2016, at the age of 67, from complications of rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia. RIP Glenn you are sadly missed.

This is not the full version. A verse or two was deleted and not played. Doesn't give the full affect of the song. Still, it is a great song! Next, I would recommend "New Kid in Town" by the Eagles.

@@rsmith2491 BOOM that’s it right there yep. Problem with some reaction channels is they have a tough time picking the original studio versions of songs due to simply not having the experience of growing up with some of this music. But I like Shawn & Mel though they seem like very nice folks.

So sorry I'm late to this party; just came across your content. Eagles, what can you say, easy to see why they were so successful. Various members able to sing with unique voices, music break downs and some of the deepest lyrics. Don Henley is one of my favorite song writers of all time. I grew up in the Hip hop era and can't deny the lyrical content Eagles puts out. It is cool to see you guys reacting to this music, you got a cool team going there, best of luck with all you do.
Take it to the limit... Take it easy... lying eyes... Three of the best song from the Eagles. I was 17 years old, I am from Chile, south America and they were my idols meanwhile i went to my University classes in santiago de Chile. I love Eagles. They are awesome band.

The Eagles had over 25 #1 hits on the billboard charts! More than any band in history! They are true legends of music.
The Eagles had 5 #1 hits, and 6 #1 albums. The Beatles had the most #1 hits with 20. Mariah Carey next with 19. Then Rhianna with 14. Then Drake with 13. Then Michael Jackson with 13. It seems like as time goes on it is easier to get #1 hits. The greatest bands ever don't even come close to the last 4 listed ( Michael is up there with the greatest performers) and don't make the top 10 at all.

Glenn Frye got the idea for this song while sitting at bar in California with a friend. A woman was sitting at the other side of the bar and Glenn said to his friend "Look at those Lying Eyes".....BOOM!! Glenn Frye was a genius songwriter!

Glenn Frey was the man and I have always said he was better than Don Henly. Nothing against Don because he was great to but I have always been a Glenn guy. He left us way to soon. I just looked it up today and forgot he has been gone for 6 years now. I love it that Deacon is a part of the group.

My first experience with the Eagles...I was 8 yrs old...and saw the album cover of One of these Nights. I was transfixed....and HAD to listen to it. One of these Nights was the first one I listened to...Lyin Eyes second....and I WAS HOOKED!! They became my fav band of ALL time. To this very day, in 2024, I am STILL a hardcore fan...they will always be my favorite!!

Some of my favorite songs are the ones you never hear. Duelin Dalton, Best of my Love. etc. Thats why the Eagles were the most sucessful band of their time. You never got cheated buying one of their albums. All great tracks.
One of the Eagles very best song is "Best Of My Love". The harmonies are just insane.
I was lucky to grow up with bands like this, the Eagles, the Animals, the Grass Roots to name a few, my heart group was Herman Hermits. The seventies was a great and great songs and performers.

Some people are critical of the Eagles. I think it’s the success. Song catalogue is ridiculous. Everyone in the band has sung lead. Changing instruments. Lyrics deep and introspective. Critics can say what they want. The Greatest Hits Album is number one or two all time with Thriller

Take a listen to Take It to The Limit by the Eagles live in Washington DC 1977. After the song ended, it took almost ten minutes to get the crowd to settle down and sit down, so they could continue their concert.
