I love how when the hunbots are pitching at you, they'll tell you about how it's SO EASY, no effort, passive income babe! But then once you're in and asking for help because you're not making any money, they turn around and criticize you for not hustling enough, telling you you have to get on your girlboss grind. All the promises from the pitch evaporate like the seams in a pair of cheap leggings.

Be careful with the Herbalife shakes. People have gotten non-alcoholic fatty liver from daily Herbalife shakes.

    • @hashtagmate

They also contain laxatives which is so fucking dangerous. Not only will you get dehydrated and malnourished from short term use, long term you will be physically addicted to laxatives. That's right you get mad constipation for the rest of your life if you stop taking them. You're also completely stripping your gut of the healthy bacteria. And the non alcoholic fatty liver of course! It's really a 3-in-1 deal

You know how some of the MLMs give rewards when you meet certain sales goals? Like a coffee mug or a jacket etc. My mom sold so much Mary Kay in the 90's that they gave her pink Cadillac.

This reminded me of the time I was in cosmetology school. There was a girl in our class who was sexually harassing and stalking a few of us. That story is an entire other can of worms, but I remember when myself and other classmates went to go tell our instructor what was going on, our instructor pulled out the DoTerra product guide, handed it to me to look through and told me that some lavender would "calm the situation". She got up to go get some paperwork, put lavender in the diffuser, and left the room. I COMPLETELY lost respect for her in that moment. Several of your students come to you with literal sexual harassment and stalking complaints, and in that vulnerable moment, you pull out the MLM shit?!?! No, ma'am. @@hashtagmateI don't think the poster was claiming that leaving your children with your husband, parents, friends, etc WRONG - most parents I know would never judge people for needing some time away from their kids - it's that this woman in particular had that self-righteous "Angel Mommy" complex, the kind where they say things like, "Oh, I could NEVER imagine working outside the home! After all, my first and only job is to be a good wife and see to my precious babies; I can't imagine trusting them to someone for so long!
Again, if that's how they choose to live, well, personally, if I was one of their kid I'd feel stiffled; then again, probably quite a few kids actually thrive in those kinds of environment. If that works for the family, then I'm happy for them.
The only problem other people tend to have is when women like that pretend that their dedication to being a SAHM makes them somehow superior to every women who works - regardless of if it's by choice or not; even if you're working because your oldest child has expressed interested in a collegepath career and being the loving mother you are you want to give him/her everything even if it means scrapping by some Christmases/birthdays, working 30+ hours alongside a bunch of 20something (they're closer to your children's ages than they are to yours!) - to give all that up knowing your kid has the chance at a better life including the job they want, and then to be ripped down by some MLM mommy who insists that mothers who work outside the homes are MONSTERS sho don't love their children or their husbands, you might get upset too. @@s.a.6082Basically that's the excuse of anyone or thing that is toxic or doesn't actually care."well, it totally would have worked except YOU messed up."
Even as teacher, looking over a report where it's entirely the student's fault, you never phrase it that way. If you do, they just close themselves off to protect themselves, especially if the student has had multiple bad experiences and has learned.
It's WAY more effective (although, unfortunately, also WAY more annoying for the poor student) to say something like, "How about we set some time aside. I can explain how I read your paper, and you can help me understand what I've missed." If you do that, and they actually show up to listen, give them a second chance with the report. When a student doesn't feel belittled, and if you actually listen to them and try to understand where they were coming from, you get much better results.

So that’s why Doterra is popular among like, insanely conservative religious groups. A lot of “traditional” religious people are highly skeptical of anything government- including established medicine (which started largely among religious, ironically). So offering “alternative” or “clean” products is so effective because they literally buy in so hard and believe it can cure anything from nausea to autism to heart disease. Every woman in my Catholic church including my mom (and even my now FIL) believes in Doterra.

    • @Shadeadder
      @Shadeadder 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

In my experience (also Catholic), a lot of the medical skepticism arises from legit bad experience with the established medical system. Symptoms that are dismissed, tests administered improperly, etc. So a lot of women turn to alt medicine in desperation. Had a married friend who went in for ulcers; the doc told her it was an STD and accused her of sleeping around before she even got test back (it was negative - ulcers were actually caused by strep). It's sadly not a surprise to me that so many women therefore buy into essential oils as "holistic" "natural" medicinal alternatives.
BTW, said friend grew up with a YoungLiving mom, and unfortunately this experience only drove her further down the alt medicine pipeline...

Yeah... almost all my immediate family got into it because of their health. They had me try some products. Multivitamin made me vomit, probiotic made me highly nauseated, no matter how I took it...and the cleanse stuff... caused me to have a colonoscopy. I refused the "pink drink" because one of the ingredients I'm not supposed to have. Also, having an annual charge on a person's account...not cool. I'm probably still in my parent's downline, but since the only card I have on file is inactive I can't be charged for anything. I totally felt pushed into it because "it will help your chronic conditions, it will be cheaper this way."

that’s the thing, some MLMs don’t have bad products (a lot suck but not all lol) but they’re often overpriced & connected with false health claims. i never really understood it tho bc you can get identical essential oils from the store for cheaper but ig if you’re “supporting” someone you know by buying from them or are already used to them, you wouldn’t really think about buying them elsewhere

Also as someone who suffers from irritable bowel syndrome it really annoys me that people are turning the whole gut microbiome thing into mlm schemes and things like that as it is just a standard thing that my dietitian helps me out with and it shouldn't be exploited by people looking to make quick money.

She kept telling me I could be a model while she was doing my makeup. Then my mom bought me skincare off of her for me as well as some makeup for both of us. 3 days after using the cleanser and toner I started breaking out into red bumps all over my face. A girl I knew from summer camp tried to recruit me into “It Works!” over Instagram a few years ago. I politely declined, and I very gently asked her like “hey, are you actually making money from this? Because MLMs are really good at taking advantage of people, I just wanna make sure you’re keeping yourself safe financially” and her response was vague but very kind.
Turns out, she was fighting an unknown chronic illness and deeply in the closet. She was a perfect target, and I’m so happy for her that she got out and seems to be doing a lot better now.
(Also, it’s hilarious to me that an MLM called themselves “It Works!” It’s like they’re trying to get ahead of people like “we promise we’re legit!!! We’re a real company don’t worry about it!!!”)
