MemeTrashHD JJ guys are almost always some of the most awesome people you'll ever meet, like as a rule. It's because of a few things. First of all, every time they spar they get a *real* feel for how easily you could lose your life to a fighter who's better than you. Even black belts get tapped, and knowing that you're at essentially the highest conventional rank of JJ could go to their heads, except they understand that there's 'always' someone better, and that keeps the ego in check. Secondly, all the time at the gym gets their aggression out! They spend a lot of time under *heavy* pressure with their survival at stake (not really, but in a simulated way.) If someone can choke you out, they can kill you, so JJ fighters who have been at it a while have gone through simulated fights for their life and they're extremely good at keeping heir cool and not losing their temper or getting easily angered about little stuff (which adds immensely to any person's sense of humor.) I didn't say all that very well, but in short, they're physically healthy, their ego's get checked often, their aggression gets relieved often, they let go of the illusion that they control life, etc., so they're also mentally healthy. This combination, especially when followed for a decade or more, will almost always create a person with a personality that feels excellent to be around. This is precisely why people say martial arts isn't reeeeally about fighting, it's more about well-rounded self improvement. It's what you get when exercise meets alchemy and has a hilarious and laid-back little baby...who could also totally kick your ass.
I love how Jason just stands there, taunting Brian as he gets thrown around. "I want you to notice something" "You're going to die." As he's being thrown to the ground. "Resist harder! You didn't resist hard enough Brian." "It might seem like I'm faster, but I have a less complex movement to make..." "You're also faster than him."
I like the coach who talks the most in this. I would watch a whole series of him teaching Brian and Jason Jiu Jitsu stuff. Actually, that's too limited. I would watch a whole series of him explaining basically anything.
Thanks IceDragon978! Working with Modern Rogue was an awesome treat! Leet them know and we will keep making more videos! What kind of vids would you like to see?
One thing I've grown to appreciate more and more over the development of this channel is how good Brian is at asking intelligent and informed questions when he's learning. He's not just a great teacher, he's a great student too. The martial arts community would be much more pleasant if every new student had his attitude. :)
The more you think about how you'd be in a fight the more horribly it goes, because it's never as clean as you'd like it to be. I feel like best most people can hope fore in most situations is to just end it quickly.
"When you ran out of ammo in your sidearm, you would throw a cap right in front of the guy's eyes..." Why bother with a cap when you could throw a pommel?
I just gotta say, I love Brian's enthusiasm with anything. He's just such a cheerful guy who lives dangerous things. Also, great video for self defense and how to fight. Love what you guys do and hope you guys stay awesome and make some more awesome videos.
Great episode! I often see shows like this having guests or going to places where people don't share (or even understand!) the humorous approach, but the Aces guys were great! They got the vibe of the thing, laughed, cracked some jokes and still came across as very professional and respectable. 10/10
I love how technical his descriptions are while still being informative. Combine that with his charisma and I'd say that he'd make an amazing feature, sorta like the bar episodes. I don't know if he'd be interested, but if so I'd love to see an episode or two of holds, chokes, or even just something more detailed on punches and kicks. Regardless though this was a great episode! The whole team seemed really patient and you guys seemed to be having good fun ^^
Thanks Zachey! I'm glad you appreciated the technical explanations and fun vibes! You even gave me a few ideas for future videos! Let the guys know and we will def keep making more! #moretocome
this channel needs more subs. with the amount of cool things these guys do and the professionalism of the editing of it all it deserves like 1+ mil subs easy
Poor Coach Ty. Spent the majority of the episode being the silent abused one. I'm certain it takes skill to fall and hold those positions without getting hurt but it just looked simple. Poor poor abused Coach Ty
Coach Ty is actually a super skilled multiple time champion so he wasn't that hurt on those falls. And you're right it does take a fair amount of skill to get thrown that many times in a controlled way and hold positions. Thanks for considering him! He's a great guy and Coach! ~Coach Mikal
Coming from a guy that spent 16 years practicing martial arts. Being the guy getting abused -typically- means the instructors trust you. But Coach Ty definitely had that "here we go again" expression the entire time. XD
Can we see more of these guys please? I mean no.1 It's funny, no. 2 It's awesome. no.3 It actually looks usable for just everybody. As he said "it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to get to the end." Really cool stuff!

You create temperatures near the surface of the sun? How the hell did a mantis shrimp get all the way to the surface of the sun?! And seeing as how much heat the sun puts off, making more heat just a little distance from it seems moot.
Micah Philson well i create cavitation bubbles that implode and create great amouts of heat for a few split seconds side note it is very hard to type fast without breaking my phone or boiling it😂😂
You guys didn't ask what i thought was a very obvious question - what happens if you are not as big as Coach? I mean realistically small dude trying to haymaker big giant dude probably doesn't happen that often. it's going to be much harder for small dude to 'murica big dude just because of height difference. Need more of this on the Rogue!
Great Question Andrew! All this hoopla for a haymaker. I prefer the old stuff, like a quick punch to the nose or kick to the groan. I may not have strength and I may have some disabilities, but that don't mean I fight by the rules. Anyways, cool to see some combat finally. You guys tested throwing objects, the millwall brick and even homemade nunchucks, but none of that means nothing if you get knocked out from the first attack.
This coach is fantastic! It's not common to see people who can break down the techniques with physics behind it. There are alot of great fighters, not alot of great instructors.

i actually lolled.
I rather get beaten up XD

That is far more accurate than it should be.
I laughed at that so hard! He seems like a pretty good coach both terms of technicality and chemistry
Brian spent the next four years training his Haymaker block, only to be bested by Jason's uppercut in the final match.
If this episode taught us anything, it's that Jason just needs to throw a haymaker with his non-dominant hand to best Brian's defenses.
Music intensifies

accurate.
