Episode 150: I have called you by name, you are mine!

I have called you by name, you are mine!. This passage in Isaiah comes at a time of Israel’s rebellion against God. They knew what was right but refused to act on it. They heard God’s warning from His messengers but did not heed them and as a result they were enslaved, imprisoned and trapped with no one to protect them.
It is in the midst of this that God sends a message through Isaiah reclaiming Israel as His own. Reminding them that they were still precious to Him.
God did not wait for them to get their act together but right in the middle is where He met them.
When God sent His Beloved Son as a ransom for us He claimed us as His own.
When Christ traded His life for ours He declared that we are precious to God, that we are loved and that we are His.
