  • If Captain America was a pro angler his name might just be Davy Hite. Hite left a military career to chase his dream of pro angling and what a dream career it has been. Qualifying for 14 Bassmaster Classics, winning 2 Bassmaster Angler of the Year titles and 9 major tournament victories - including the 1998 Forrest Wood Cup and 1999 Bassmaster Classic. In 2017 after a Hall of Fame career Davy Hite retired from competition to join the Bassmaster broadcast team. This week, Davy joins the podcast and opens up like many have never seen. Sharing some never publicly told stories, secrets and tournament truths in an episode we call Red, White & True!

    Dave this might be the best podcast I’ve ever watched. Loved that it’s just two friends having a conversation about something they are passionate about. Love watching Dave & Davy on live too. Ready to watch y’all tomorrow on live. Lake Fork will be over 100lbs too. Crazy to think the first two derb’s will be over 100lbs

    ABSOLUTELY LOVE the on the scene interview. I have all the respect due to the likes of Davy Hite…. As a retired senior non commissioned officer from the army as well as a classic champion and a right proper Bassin Man! Great show, and I’m just halfway thru

      @@factsoffishing just a bit busy I’d say… I would have killed to see the lake fork action… it will be a long time before numbers like that again… Davy called Hamner the Hammers fish a proper Slaunch! What an epic event. My buddy and I are way back BASS fans but we are man crushin on Ben so we will most likely see you all in NY in Aug. The FFS stuff be damned… there is new life in the Elites. So flippin exciting

    FFS coverage was so educational. Taught us fish location, migration status, small strike zone, tough to catch, fish needed to see bait vs using lateral line to respond, the best pre-spawn location for quality fish,,,,etc. FFS provides actual knowledge and each angler can decide to use it or not.

    • @michaellamenza7617
      @michaellamenza7617 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      That's the problem with ffs, 1 of the problems, in my opinion. That's way too much information, regardless that it's a skill to learn. And yes, each pro angler can decide to use it or not, but if they don't, they're not going to be competitive. I dont want fishing to be hunting and fishing live on a screen. That's a step too far for me. In my personal fishing, for example, if I pull up on a lay down or a dock or off shore structure etc, I dont want to see what's there live on a screen. I want to try to figure it out and find them on my own. That is why I love fishing.

    • @peterlong9629
      @peterlong9629 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pros have a choice and so do we as recreational anglers with regards to whether or not we want to have ffs or not. There are guys that are getting their blood pressure way up because of what the Pros are spending on electronics, as if they will be compwting against those guys in the Elites next year. With no chance of being on the Elite roster, those guys need to relax a bit. Have faith that Chase and his team are looking at this situation and they will make a determination, most likely at the end if this season. I doubt we will see any change now that the season has started.

    Dave this was absolutely the best podcast I have seen you do . Never met Davy Hite but I followed his career over the many years and he is undoubtedly a man of integrity, honesty, family values and faith . He truly cares about this sport and after hearing him speak of the leadership at BASS it’s nice to know that they are truly looking at the future of the sport and the changing technology that seems to have sadly caused a lot of division among anglers

    Great interview. I think we all loved bass tournaments when the pore in the rich had the same chance to win. College baseball is allowed to use metal bats ,but the MLB only allows wood bats! Because they are pros in should be better, and be able to do ot with less. Whats coming is Vr head sets on the boat 6 screens 3d 2d with vitually under water view.. Whats after that a robotic arm that has a skip button for docks, tesla boat in a 9yr old is a pro doing it from his bedroom. Where do we keep it at its essence. Also what about the records .

    Once again a great podcast/conversation. Hearing y’all’s thoughts about the spilt, ffs, and just about everything. I’ll say it again have nothing against ffs, and agree that anyone that says it’s not fishing is nuts. I guarantee those complaining would have issue making those same precise cast that caught fish this past weekend. The only thing I wish is that some of the guys would be like Scott Martin or Ben Milliken and be a person able while they are staring at the screen. I bet people wouldn’t complain about watching it near as much or they would because people just love to complain. lol. No matter what you’re still starring at the back of the angler.Keep up the great work. Stay safe on your travels.

Never liked the MLF aspect from the beginning but they'll all be back soon when MLF goes under. Also every time I watch one of these I think it's the best I've seen so far. I feel you Davy. That is the reason why i got into being a referee for the two sports i played most of my life, that i could no longer play competitively. Becoming a referee was my way to stay connected to those sports and to give back to those sports. Those games were played when i was a kid, because there were guys that were referees.

    Great show, lots of truth bombs in this porch burning pod cast. My favorite line from Hite, would you use live bait or FFS? I also feel for the old days as Hite was reminiscing. He is a true Legend. Chris Zaldane did a podcast of the cost of Pro's electronics in the 25k-50k . I guess... To be the best comes at a cost. In life, pocket and heart. Hite is a Legend.

    Great show. I think we need to see you drop a live minnow or worm on some bass on Facts or Fishing.
    I personally think if you left BASS for another tour. You must go through the EQ's past champion or not.

    I've been talking about them screw lock weights all week. I'm from Okeechobee but didn't realize they were gambler weights and that's why i can't find them. Wow awesome. And it was 99/00 when i was fishing with them i was just a kid

    Been a member of BASS since 1973, Life Member since 1975. Over 70 years old, been bass fishing for 61 years. The sport is losing me with this FFS. Not all technology is good technology
    If a sport is to remain a true sport. Integrity is most important. Golf has integrity. They do not allow range finders or other computer driven technology. A golfer must determine the distance themselves, the correct club, the correct amount of swing force, to place the ball. This keeps the human element in the sport. If rangefinders, computer aided technology is used to make a shot....there goes the game's integrity. What makes a golfer great, and not just decent, is their ability to judge the distance and correct swing to get the ball there. Yes, a range finder is just a tool, but a tool that takes out the human element. Same with FFS. Does anyone believe these top 10 fishermen at the Bend would have r caught these suspended bass in the water column of 20-30 ft depths? No....they could not. They make get lucky and catch a few without FFS...but this technology is removing a critical part of the human decision making. More important than competitive bass fishing, are the health of our Fisheries. Does anyone believe...once scores of fishermen have these units and learn to use them...that the effects of this on our Fisheries will be positive? If you believe this...I want to borrow your rose colored glasses. Just like social.media has had a negative effect on our Fisheries, this will too...big time. Give it 5 years...and if game management depts do not take action on limits, or something....I will be shocked. On one lake I have visited 4 times in the past year....the best Crappie fishermen on that lake have all stated ....the lake one was of the best trophy crappie lakes in this state, with 3 Crappie in the top ten list. Now, it is hard to catch a 2 lb Crappie. Unbelievable how many FFS units on boats I have seen there....even small alum Boats with 20 hp motors, have 3-4 thousand dollars in FFS and equipment on them. On bass lakes, it will start with the larger bass declining also. I have always viewed BASS live in the tournaments , but I am quickly loosing interest. This is not the sport I have spent 61 years enjoying.
