As far as I have seen, Accordion Love really focuses on chromatic instruments. Diatonic is played significantly differently with different notes on the push and pull, which also changes when they can be physically played in a piece of music because you will need to change bellows direction with good timing. I switched from a C/G diatonic concertina to a chromatic accordion. Usually diatonic will also be in 2 keys like C/G. Id recommend learning where all the notes are in each key that your accordion can play and then focusing on music pieces that use only those two keys because it takes a lot of jumping around to try and pick up the "accidental" notes outside of the keys that your instrument has. Honestly, it would probably do a great deal to enhance your learning to find a diatonic teacher. An instrument like the Hohner Panther is often used for Latino, Norteno, and cumbia type music, which is still very popular today. so you might be able to find a good teacher in those communities
If you have a 2 row diatonic then typically it has just 2 keys with no extra accidentals. If you have a 3 row, then the 3rd row (innermost towards the bellows) is all of the extra accidentals (sharps and flats) you would need to play a fully chromatic scale. However, playing them chromatically or playing a key for which they weren't explicitly built requires lots of jumping around between rows in a manner that can defy logic.
