i noticed all of my favourite groups are or were severely underrated (i say "were" in this case because those groups disbanded, an example would be clc). a.c.e is one of the groups at the top of my list.

So glad to see this, Goblin in Korea is definitely different they're more like deities. Jun is my bias from debut~ he's leader lead singer, lead dancer AND an actor. I always fall for the actors. And guess what? He recently starred as the lead in a BL drama ❤️ Tinted With You.

I love it when people react to “Take me Higher” as the first A.C.E song since it’s so different from their other title tracks. Chan wasn’t in that song because he (and Jun) competed on a show called “The Unit” and he ended up making it in the top 9 and promoted briefly as UNB.
You’re right about them leveling up with each comeback. They are currently their company’s only group so they didn’t have the funds for elaborate MVs. Take Me Higher was already considerably higher budget compared to their first 2 MVs. They have a pretty good international audience but are still pretty underrated in Korea.
All the members are very well rounded, all are strong dancers and singers, like you saw, even their rappers are strong vocals. In 2017/2018, the members split up and competed on 2 idol survival shows; Jun/Chan on The Unit, and the rest of the guys on MixNine. Like I mentioned before, Chan ended up in the top 9 on The unit and debuted with UNB. Byeongkwan and Donghun also made it in the Top 9 in MixNine meaning they were set to debut/promote in the temporary group but that group ended up being canceled. While Jun and Wow did get eliminated, they both still ranked fairly high on their shows. Shows that they definitely had skills and they were all noticed.
At the moment I think the group is on a hiatus of sort since 3/5 members are in the Military.

The interesting thing about A.C.E is that they are literally all aces. The two rappers can sing like vocalist, the vocalists can rap and they're all amazing dancers. The official positions are
Junhee (1994) - the 3 L's alias Leader, Lead Vocals and Lead Dancer (could honestly be a main vocal, but to make the group "fit into kpop standards" you apparently can't only have main positions for alle members...)
Donghun (1993) - Main Vocalist
Sehyoon alias Wow (1993) - Main dancer & Main rapper
Byeongkwan (1996) - Main dancer & Main rapper
Yuchan (1997) - Main Vocalist
there is no "main rapper" position in the group. Both Byeongkwan and Sehyoon are "Main Dancer, Vocalist, Rapper".

I’ve always thought that Wow specializes in writing adorable rap verses. I feel like the lines he wrote for their OST song “Something” and their b-side “Clover” has a similar feel to the rap he wrote for “Take Me Higher.”
Hmm I have never heard someone say they thought the boys tones were similar 😳 Hearing them live is an experience. Chan’s softness and clarity are immaculate. Jun’s Tambre and his belt are incredible. Donghun’s raspiness and his falsetto’s are to die for 😩

One of the members, Jun, was actually a male lead in a korean bl drama. It was sooo cute and romantic and him and his male partner had the cutest on screen chemistry! Its called Tinted With You! You should check it out!,
A.C.E is truly a fascinating group. Although they never really got that much attention, their global fanbase is super strong. Seeing them build themselves up with the support of their company since their debut, I couldn't be happier to see them be so good at what they do. They are so insanely talented, first recognized for their intense choreo, later proving themselves as vocalists and now they are undeniably all known as aces! Can't wait for you to check out a guide on them, they are the loveliest souls ever and they are super fun!
As someone who stanned them from the start, one of their defining feature as a group is definitely how easily they blend with each other
They're were all originally trained to be vocalists, but after the 2 supposed rappers left before debut, Byeongkwan (or just BK if it's easier for you) and Sehyoon (Wow) took on the roles of rappers. Their whole origin story as well as their own paths in music and dance and the industry are really interesting and I think you'd really enjoy it. There's a very popular guide that I think is great, but more recently someone made a really long one that's almost like a movie and it's amazing. Knowing you love long detailed guides that might be just up your ally. Besides the amazing vocals, they're all really talented dancers/choreographers and they've all dipped into songwriting/composing/producing.
Oh and to answer some questions, BK is not American tho he did live in Canada for a bit as a child and is fluent in english (he's going to serve as a translator in KATUSA for his military service).
They were the only act in their company till last year when 1st gen idol and musical actor SHY and a vocal group Forestella signed to their label as well.
Chan is missing in Take Me Higher cause back in 2017 they decided to join 2 survival programs in hopes of promoting the group, and Chan got to debut in the group that came out of one of the programs so he was away for most activities in 2018. Wow is missing in the Down MV (but his voice is still in the song) because he took a mental health break trough April and a part of May last year.
Some other song recomendations besides the other MV's that I'm sure we'll get in part 2 are: Jindo Arirang, 5tar, Stand By You, Slow Dive, My Lover, Black and Blue (both the unit and ot5 version), So Sick, Atlantis

During "Take m higher" the maknae,Chan, was in another project, so that's why there are 4. During "Down" WOW was on a hiatus. Rn Donghun, WOW & Jun are in the military.

I discovered A.C.E when I heard the OST for the BL Series "light on Me" ..the title was Spark and I was impressed by their Vocals

LOL at "Imagine this live..." -- I've seen Undercover live from 2nd row from the stage--no barrier. Not sure how I survived. Technically, I was taking my daughter to see them, but I ended up as big a fan as her. Also: glad to see you returning to reacting to them!

I thought of Gackt in the first reaction because he has SUCH a unique voice and uses a lot of distortion at times. I’m so curious to hear what a vocal coach thinks of his vocals. SVT and ACE are my ults! I love them. It is much harder to pick an ACE bias than you would think, considering there are only 5 members. It took me six months to settle on one, and then when I saw them in concert a few weeks later, I was bias wrecked by literally every member! I was completely charmed by the whole group. Like I was already a fan when I went to the concert, but I walked out ready to fight people for them.
Higher came out last summer and is worth a listen - it's a different sound for them, and the mv is beautiful. I also really loved Changer, which is the song they dropped right before Donghun and Wow enlisted in September. It's also the only lighthearted/cute mv that has all five members.🥺You've already heard my two fav covers, but they're really all next level.

Higher is a beautiful masterpiece both vocally and visually. The fact that it was solely focused on just vocals and no rap is where it enhances the song's beauty and how can we forget the intro- miserere mei deus ✨

I was sad to think that you had forgotten about them, ace is a unique and wonderful group, it's a little late to be stanning them because they are already in the process of doing their military service.
A.C.E are all rounders, they all can sing can rap can dance and song writing. I'm so glad you like them so much and I believe that you will fall deeper in them when you check out more their musics. A.C.E also is cover king, they have many dance and song covers which received many attentions.
You should check out all their MVs and also b-sides. Their b-sides are also as good as titles. For covers, my favourite A.C.E cover is "Empty Space"

Byeongkwan and Chan are former JYP trainees. Jun, Donghun and Wow are former CJ E&M Trainees. Their CEO was a former manager in CJ E&M and recruited Donghun, Wow and Jun to join her company. Byeongkwan and Chan was recommended by a JYP vocal trainer. They joined the company without auditioning and became a group. Their company is one of the companies out there.

A.C.E has so much to offer, there is a lot of great things for you to discover. 😊 Their sincere and passionate approach to music and to the group is admirable, it's very easy to fall for them, not only because of how skillful they are, but also because they are trying to include the fandom in almost everything.
Since it's true that there is a lot of time to get into them atm, I really recommend you to watch some non-music content later as well, both funny and serious. Funny for obvious reasons, and serious because the members themselves, their personalities, willingness to share good and bad personal experiences, their love for A.C.E and Choice, all of this made A.C.E into the group it is now.
42:12 also, just wanted to clear up, that the high range you hear is actually Donghun (guy in the far right). He switches immediately to high range when Jun comes in with the middle range ;) They always sing this way in live version as well. But, Jun has higher range too, as you've heard in the other song~ They're known for amazing harmonization. A lot of times they break out in harmonized acapella, and they're just so good!

Yes I've been waiting for this one! 😍 They are sooo talented. Under Cover is one of my favourite songs ever. Not just in K-pop, but favourite in general. I would recommend reacting to Higher and Savage, and they have a ton of really good covers! The OST they have called Spark is also really good!

To answer your confusion about the members: in the someone you loved cover, Chan was on the left and Donghun (pronounce ‘hun’ like the double o in ‘moon’) on the right; those were the two whose voices you said sound similar in undercover, they’re the main vocalists. Jun was in the middle, he’s the one you first noticed in take me higher and whose voice you really liked in the first two songs, he’s a lead vocalist.
The rappers Byeongkwan and Wow also sing very well, as you also noticed. They were originally also vocalists, as A.C.E originally had two more members (rappers) who left before debut, so they moved into their rap positions.
Another beautiful vocal trio cover you might wanna look into is their rendition of IU‘s “Love poem”, but any of their full group covers would be interesting to hear your opinion on as well (I recommend “Youngblood” and “easier”).
As for their own songs you haven’t listened to yet: “cactus”(debut song) and “callin’” are hardstyle edm, “savage” is strong trap song, “changer” is an emotional pop song and I’m not sure how to define the genre for “higher”, but you should even watch it for the visuals alone. They also have videos for the b-sides “5tar” and “stand by you” , although they’re very ballad adjacent so they might not be too interesting, but they’re super beautiful and especially “stand by you” has a real special place in my heart. I’m sure you’d also enjoy watching a performance compilation of the Jun-Wow unit song “black and blue”, because it’s very… appealing👀

I love them so much!! Their covers are pretty much where it's at to really hear their vocals. They all love music so much and take their craft so seriously, and it shows! And they're super goofy and handsome which is a bonus lol.

Undercover is one of my all time fav kpop songs. It is just so good. One of the best underrated groups out there. Their covers are amazing! Their cover of 5SOS Youngblood is one of my favs.

When you were talking about blend you made me think of Super Junior, an old kpop reactor i used to watch back then loved Super Junior and his harmonies he said and i quote: when they sing they sound like one but if you know them well enough you are able to spot their voices separately and each time i listen to the song i spot a different member in the same part of the song it makes it a new experience.

To explain a bit about Goblin the song, it's chock full of goblin lore references and they blend modern with traditional styling as a way to refer to thier ability to time travel. There's a picture of one behind Byeonkwan when he's solo (with the cute hair with butterly clips) the big fanged face behind him is a depiction of one.
Korean Goblins are like nature spirits? Or nature deities moreso. They're cheeky, but overall typically 'good' and punish evil doers in many stories, the "Ddak, come out, fight me" is part of a traditional lore chant to summon one of them. After which if you summon one, they traditionally wrestle and will only let you pass if you win. The Choreography also has traditional korean wrestling moves incorporated because of this. There's a whole video about the references I've seen.
I do believe they refer to specific legends about them via their costuming ie: Donghun with the hat with the strips hanging from it, depicts something like a deitie of death, Jun and Chan depict twins or soulmates (possible relation to the red string of fate lore), I can't quite remember the story when they're sat back to back with the long hair and uhh, pretty costumes haha. The lyrics themselves have many references, but the chant is the main one I remember lol.
Junhee can do the whistle notes !!! He did a cover of Heartbreak Anniversary and did a little run using whistle notes ! And the one on the very right in the Someone You Loved cover, Donghun, was a vocal coach when he was in college !!

A.C.E have amazing covers, they truly shine in their covers. Whether it's vocal or dance covers, they make it their own. And of course their original stuff is great. They are my second ult group after exo. Anyways, here are some original A.C.E stuff recommendations.

And lastly, not really a video recomendation but I just wanted to say that they are really sweet, you might find out through the guide but they used to do busking in the streets of Hongdae before debuting, since they are from a small company, to kind of get their selves known... And even after debuting they kept on going back to the same streets to perform for free again. There's videos of all of this out there so, you can kinda see when they used to have a crowd of random people that sort of stayed for a bit then left, and as the time progresses they literally recruited a bunch of fans and their most recent busking in Korea (before the pandemic ofc) was literally surrounded by fans singing the fanchants and people with cameras all around them :'( I'm just very proud of them and their growth since I happened to witness it from the very beginning. There's a bunch of other stuff I could tell you about but I'll levae it for the next video. Lastly, just thanks for giving my favorite boys a chance, they deserve all the love they can get tbh.
I'm so glad you're finally reacting to A.C.E! They deserve so much love and attention. 도께비 translates to goblin, but they're really an entirely different creature. I recommend watching DKDKTV's explanation video for _Goblin_. It also explains the storyline of the video and a lot of other cultural references.
_Under Cover_ is my favorite song of all time! I recommend watching the performance video or their Mdromeda/It's Live performance so you can see the whole choreo. The best bit isn't even in the MV.
I bias OT5, as do a lot of the Choice I know. I think it's easy to bias all the members because the group is small and well balanced. And, of course, they're all aces. 😊
I love how the description of the voices and their tones from you at 39:30 really matched their personality. Chan is clear and youthful, kind of aggressive in a way that he has high energy and he is a pure vitamin C sometimes. Donghun is deeper, more emotional and soulful, which translates his introverted side and personality of thinker. And Jun between them, playing the role of balancer and mediator. He is a leader of the group, he takes that role very well and in a lot of times has to be the that middle ground.

So glad you came back around to A.C.E! They are my ults (along with Onewe) and they really deserve so much more love and attention. At least you have two years to catch up with stanning them since 3 have already enlisted and Byeongkwan (you can call him BK) is enlisting in April leaving only Chan the maknae lol Also, if you want a more in depth explenation of Favorite Boys, DKDKTV did a really good "Korean Explains" video on it that explains everything about both the song and the music video!
They are so talented and amazing. They are also super close and have been known to support a ton of good causes and stuff.
A.C.E are such an amazing group. They are one of those groups where they are really amazing, every single member. OT5. They love their fans, they are incredibly underrated (they still go busking), they are supportive of the LGBT community (they have made OSTs for BLs and Jun starred in one as one of the main guys) and they work incredibly hard. Their company started (and still is) tiny, with just a producer/ceo taking them on and they would borrow studios to practice in. Chan, the youngest, just left for the military so that is where they ALL currently are, but they will all be back within a handful of months of each other at least.
I love them so much! I saw them in concert and the live vocals are no joke and they are even better looking in person. It's insane

yesssss so grateful to see you react to A.C.E ! i honestly don't know of anybody that has heard a couple songs from a.c.e and then decided that they DIDN'T want to stan them because you just can't escape their charms! they're funny, they're GORGEOUS, the music is amazing and their talents are unmatched.

For pronouncing the names, EXO is a good reference! The second syllable of Donghun is the same as in Sehun, and the first syllable of Byeongkwan is _almost_ the same as in Kyungsoo, it just starts with 'B' instead of 'K' :)
Somebody To Love is Chan (yellow collar), Jun (plaid), Donghun (all burgundy). The video lists their names in age order (mat hyung/eldest to maknae) rather than the order you see them in - why not just switch Chan and Donghun so it all lines up, idk.

A.C.E debuted in May 2017 under Beat interactive with the song “Cactus” (they became quite infamous for always performing in hot-pants during this era)
In late 2017, the members participated in 2 survival shows meant to create new groups (kinda like Izone or Kepler) (Donghun, Wow and Byeongkwan participated in Mixnine, and Donghun and Byeongkwan made it to the debut group, but the debut unfortunately fell through) (Jun and Chan participated on The Unit, and Chan made it to the debut group, debuting in the group UNB (that’s why he wasn’t in Take me higher)
Currently, the group is in a sort of hiatus, since Donghun, Wow and Jun are currently doing their military service, with Byeongkwan also set to enlist soon, but in the meantime, we can make do with all the awesome music and entertainment they have already given us
My personal favorite title track of theirs is Higher, which came out last year. So if you’re listening to more A.C.E, highly recommend that one
I saw them live when they came to Seattle. They are so talented and hard working! They even busked at the University of Washington campus before the show. They deserve all the best! The order they where in from left to right for Someone Like You is: Chan, Jun, Donghyun.

I'm so glad you are liking A.C.E., they are so underrated, mostly by knetz and I really don't understand, these guys are so freaking talented it's ridiculous, and they are 1of the groups where I have never been able to pick even 3 biases, so I just bias the whole group...
In the cover video, my favorite cover from the vocal line, the order they are sitting in from l to r is Chan the maknae, Jun the leader, and Donghun the main vocal.. for a cover with all 5 I recommend the Empty Space cover, it's my favorite with the whole group followed closely by Youngblood....interestingly, Chan has my favorite voice, 1of my favorite 4th gen voices period, but to me it sounds like he needs more/better vocal training cuz his voice is so naturally powerful, but it's like he is afraid to or doesn't know how to use all of the power and at times he actually uses more of that power his voice sounds different, and you can hear what I mean on 1of the more powerful notes he sings near the end of that Someone You Loved cover

Yay! I'm so glad you're enjoying getting into A.C.E! They are sooo talented and used to do a lot of busking and covers when they first debuted and even just a few years ago while on tour! They are literally all aces, and just a super fun group with awesome stylists! Their debut song is Cactus which they all shaved their legs and wore hot pants to perform in! (So you should check out the live stages/relay dance from that era, for some awesome thighs!) I also recommend Savage, Callin', Stand By You, and I Feel So Lucky ft Hcue (another English collab). They also covered 5SOS Youngblood and Easier which were really good too.
Ahhh it’s always nice to see someone appreciate a.c.e!!! Welcome to the Choice family! If you ever want some good a.c.e guides, the ones I can think of off the top of my head are; “The essential guide to a.c.e - 2020 edition” by clover universe and “a.c.e the story (Guide 2021)” by ocean choice! Though I will say that the second guide does play a lot of their music in the bg, so if you’re the type that likes to hear the music in its entirety first, it may not be the best one for you ^-^;;
