i noticed all of my favourite groups are or were severely underrated (i say "were" in this case because those groups disbanded, an example would be clc). a.c.e is one of the groups at the top of my list.
I love it when people react to “Take me Higher” as the first A.C.E song since it’s so different from their other title tracks. Chan wasn’t in that song because he (and Jun) competed on a show called “The Unit” and he ended up making it in the top 9 and promoted briefly as UNB. You’re right about them leveling up with each comeback. They are currently their company’s only group so they didn’t have the funds for elaborate MVs. Take Me Higher was already considerably higher budget compared to their first 2 MVs. They have a pretty good international audience but are still pretty underrated in Korea. All the members are very well rounded, all are strong dancers and singers, like you saw, even their rappers are strong vocals. In 2017/2018, the members split up and competed on 2 idol survival shows; Jun/Chan on The Unit, and the rest of the guys on MixNine. Like I mentioned before, Chan ended up in the top 9 on The unit and debuted with UNB. Byeongkwan and Donghun also made it in the Top 9 in MixNine meaning they were set to debut/promote in the temporary group but that group ended up being canceled. While Jun and Wow did get eliminated, they both still ranked fairly high on their shows. Shows that they definitely had skills and they were all noticed. At the moment I think the group is on a hiatus of sort since 3/5 members are in the Military.

The interesting thing about A.C.E is that they are literally all aces. The two rappers can sing like vocalist, the vocalists can rap and they're all amazing dancers. The official positions are Junhee (1994) - the 3 L's alias Leader, Lead Vocals and Lead Dancer (could honestly be a main vocal, but to make the group "fit into kpop standards" you apparently can't only have main positions for alle members...) So glad to see this, Goblin in Korea is definitely different they're more like deities. Jun is my bias from debut~ he's leader lead singer, lead dancer AND an actor. I always fall for the actors. And guess what? He recently starred as the lead in a BL drama ❤️ Tinted With You.

A.C.E is truly a fascinating group. Although they never really got that much attention, their global fanbase is super strong. Seeing them build themselves up with the support of their company since their debut, I couldn't be happier to see them be so good at what they do. They are so insanely talented, first recognized for their intense choreo, later proving themselves as vocalists and now they are undeniably all known as aces! I’ve always thought that Wow specializes in writing adorable rap verses. I feel like the lines he wrote for their OST song “Something” and their b-side “Clover” has a similar feel to the rap he wrote for “Take Me Higher.”
I finally gave in and started to listen to A.C.E 6 or 7 months ago after hearing Say What Reacts talking about them for years. They quickly soared past other groups and planted themselves right under EXO in my group bias list. I only just now realized you have an A.C.E reactions playlist and going through it. I’m Donghun biased. His voice got me first. That thick quality you mention gives me goosebumps. Then I fell in love with his personality, and his smile that can brighten the darkest day. He’s also absolutely stunning. Long hair Donghun is a sight to behold. Chan was wrecking me from the military, and continues to after he got back. His strong, clear tone is beautiful. The man’s a menace, and has the best laugh. The rest of them are close behind though. Wow has really been getting to me lately.
They're were all originally trained to be vocalists, but after the 2 supposed rappers left before debut, Byeongkwan (or just BK if it's easier for you) and Sehyoon (Wow) took on the roles of rappers. Their whole origin story as well as their own paths in music and dance and the industry are really interesting and I think you'd really enjoy it. There's a very popular guide that I think is great, but more recently someone made a really long one that's almost like a movie and it's amazing. Knowing you love long detailed guides that might be just up your ally. Besides the amazing vocals, they're all really talented dancers/choreographers and they've all dipped into songwriting/composing/producing. Oh and to answer some questions, BK is not American tho he did live in Canada for a bit as a child and is fluent in english (he's going to serve as a translator in KATUSA for his military service). They were the only act in their company till last year when 1st gen idol and musical actor SHY and a vocal group Forestella signed to their label as well. Chan is missing in Take Me Higher cause back in 2017 they decided to join 2 survival programs in hopes of promoting the group, and Chan got to debut in the group that came out of one of the programs so he was away for most activities in 2018. Wow is missing in the Down MV (but his voice is still in the song) because he took a mental health break trough April and a part of May last year. When you were talking about blend you made me think of Super Junior, an old kpop reactor i used to watch back then loved Super Junior and his harmonies he said and i quote: when they sing they sound like one but if you know them well enough you are able to spot their voices separately and each time i listen to the song i spot a different member in the same part of the song it makes it a new experience. yaaaaas a.c.e is literally my ult group i'm so glad you got around to checking them out, they're wonderful. they're all great singers but donghun and jun are some of my favorite vocalists in the industry right now. jun has such a unique tone to his voice (and, fun fact, he starred in a boy's love series last year, and talked in an interview about how he did it to show support for their substantial lgbtq+ fanbase, literally king shit, he's my bias lmao)

I love how the description of the voices and their tones from you at 39:30 really matched their personality. Chan is clear and youthful, kind of aggressive in a way that he has high energy and he is a pure vitamin C sometimes. Donghun is deeper, more emotional and soulful, which translates his introverted side and personality of thinker. And Jun between them, playing the role of balancer and mediator. Jun is my bias (he was recently the lead in a boylove kdrama!!) but they're all amazing and it's impossible not to stan them! For songs I would recommend Jindo Arirang (a traditional folk song they remixed), I Feel So Lucky (Okay, this is for the music video more than anything but trust me, it's worth a watch), Spark - very cute OST for a boylove drama, Callin' and Slow Dive. Fun Fact: Byeongkwan and Chan are former JYP trainees. Jun, Donghun and Wow are former CJ E&M Trainees. Their CEO was a former manager in CJ E&M and recruited Donghun, Wow and Jun to join her company. Byeongkwan and Chan was recommended by a JYP vocal trainer. I'm so glad you are liking A.C.E., they are so underrated, mostly by knetz and I really don't understand, these guys are so freaking talented it's ridiculous, and they are 1of the groups where I have never been able to pick even 3 biases, so I just bias the whole group... In the cover video, my favorite cover from the vocal line, the order they are sitting in from l to r is Chan the maknae, Jun the leader, and Donghun the main vocal.. for a cover with all 5 I recommend the Empty Space cover, it's my favorite with the whole group followed closely by Youngblood....interestingly, Chan has my favorite voice, 1of my favorite 4th gen voices period, but to me it sounds like he needs more/better vocal training cuz his voice is so naturally powerful, but it's like he is afraid to or doesn't know how to use all of the power and at times he actually uses more of that power his voice sounds different, and you can hear what I mean on 1of the more powerful notes he sings near the end of that Someone You Loved cover

The Goblin they are referring to is a ddokaebi which is quite different from western folklore. DKDKTV did an explained on this and the folklore and some of the cultural references if you want something more in depth from an actual korean person but from what I (not a korean person) understand: They are much more chaotic neutral than bad or evil like we think of in western folklore. I would attribute how they relate to humans in more of a "fae" fashion where they are mischievous and tricky sometimes helpful but sometimes not. The chant in the chorus is effectively "Bring on silver bring on gold" a reference to an actual ddokaebi folklore (source: the DKDKtv explaination) From Wikipedia: Dokkaebi are different from ghosts, called gwisin (귀신) in Korean, in that they are not formed by the death of a human being, but rather by the spiritual possession of an inanimate object such as old discarded household tools like brooms, or objects stained with human blood.[4] The physical appearance of the dokkaebi is presented in many different ways and has varied by different time periods, but they have always been depicted as fearsome and awe-inspiring. The most common depiction of them is based on ancient roof tiles with dokkaebi patterns.[4][6] Different versions of the dokkaebi mythology assign different attributes to them. Welcome to CHOICE (fandom). Junhee, Donghun and WOW are in their service period, BK is leaving in a couple of weeks, only the maknae, Chan isn't serving yet. I'm glad you came back to A.C.E. I love your explanation for the lack of shirts: The company decided shirts just didn't need to be in the budget. LOL Beat Interactive is the only entertainment company started by a female CEO. They now have another group and a soloist as well. Donghun has the thicker, emotional voice. Junhee the more laid back voice with range and Chan has the more "steady" voice. Byeongkwan (BK) is our Fairy King rapper who loves defying fashion standards and WOW is our 4D alien rapper. (Goblins are more like fairies in our western mythology. They charm mortals and perform magic and the chorus is actually a traditional way to call out to the Goblins. The song and video combine modern and traditional elements.) SVT and ACE are my ults! I love them. It is much harder to pick an ACE bias than you would think, considering there are only 5 members. It took me six months to settle on one, and then when I saw them in concert a few weeks later, I was bias wrecked by literally every member! I was completely charmed by the whole group. Like I was already a fan when I went to the concert, but I walked out ready to fight people for them. Higher came out last summer and is worth a listen - it's a different sound for them, and the mv is beautiful. I also really loved Changer, which is the song they dropped right before Donghun and Wow enlisted in September. It's also the only lighthearted/cute mv that has all five members.🥺You've already heard my two fav covers, but they're really all next level.

42:12 also, just wanted to clear up, that the high range you hear is actually Donghun (guy in the far right). He switches immediately to high range when Jun comes in with the middle range ;) They always sing this way in live version as well. But, Jun has higher range too, as you've heard in the other song~ They're known for amazing harmonization. A lot of times they break out in harmonized acapella, and they're just so good! OMG you should watch their performance on Immortal Songs. You don't even have to react to it (bc it might get taken down), but it's so worth it
YES! My boys! Fans are “Choice” because we chose each other. Byeongkwan can be shortened to BK. Recommendations: “Changer” pop “Savage” rock/hip hop ? Debut “Cactus” dub-step “Higher” literally a university’s creative art project “Baby tonight” laid-back melodic song “I Feel So Lucky” is an English song they did with a French producer that sounds Latin-y. “Slow Dive” only has a dance practice but boy it will give you a heart attack. My absolute favorite cover they have done is “Youngblood” by 5SOS. They are serious, goofy, crop-tops and booty shorts. Good luck. 💙

I love it when people react to “Take me Higher” as the first A.C.E song since it’s so different from their other title tracks. Chan wasn’t in that song because he (and Jun) competed on a show called “The Unit” and he ended up making it in the top 9 and promoted briefly as UNB.
You’re right about them leveling up with each comeback. They are currently their company’s only group so they didn’t have the funds for elaborate MVs. Take Me Higher was already considerably higher budget compared to their first 2 MVs. They have a pretty good international audience but are still pretty underrated in Korea.
All the members are very well rounded, all are strong dancers and singers, like you saw, even their rappers are strong vocals. In 2017/2018, the members split up and competed on 2 idol survival shows; Jun/Chan on The Unit, and the rest of the guys on MixNine. Like I mentioned before, Chan ended up in the top 9 on The unit and debuted with UNB. Byeongkwan and Donghun also made it in the Top 9 in MixNine meaning they were set to debut/promote in the temporary group but that group ended up being canceled. While Jun and Wow did get eliminated, they both still ranked fairly high on their shows. Shows that they definitely had skills and they were all noticed.
At the moment I think the group is on a hiatus of sort since 3/5 members are in the Military.

The interesting thing about A.C.E is that they are literally all aces. The two rappers can sing like vocalist, the vocalists can rap and they're all amazing dancers. The official positions are
Junhee (1994) - the 3 L's alias Leader, Lead Vocals and Lead Dancer (could honestly be a main vocal, but to make the group "fit into kpop standards" you apparently can't only have main positions for alle members...)
Donghun (1993) - Main Vocalist
Sehyoon alias Wow (1993) - Main dancer & Main rapper
Byeongkwan (1996) - Main dancer & Main rapper
Yuchan (1997) - Main Vocalist
there is no "main rapper" position in the group. Both Byeongkwan and Sehyoon are "Main Dancer, Vocalist, Rapper".

A.C.E is truly a fascinating group. Although they never really got that much attention, their global fanbase is super strong. Seeing them build themselves up with the support of their company since their debut, I couldn't be happier to see them be so good at what they do. They are so insanely talented, first recognized for their intense choreo, later proving themselves as vocalists and now they are undeniably all known as aces! I’ve always thought that Wow specializes in writing adorable rap verses. I feel like the lines he wrote for their OST song “Something” and their b-side “Clover” has a similar feel to the rap he wrote for “Take Me Higher.”
I discovered A.C.E when I heard the OST for the BL Series "light on Me" ..the title was Spark and I was impressed by their Vocals
I finally gave in and started to listen to A.C.E 6 or 7 months ago after hearing Say What Reacts talking about them for years. They quickly soared past other groups and planted themselves right under EXO in my group bias list. I only just now realized you have an A.C.E reactions playlist and going through it.
I’m Donghun biased. His voice got me first. That thick quality you mention gives me goosebumps. Then I fell in love with his personality, and his smile that can brighten the darkest day. He’s also absolutely stunning. Long hair Donghun is a sight to behold.
Chan was wrecking me from the military, and continues to after he got back. His strong, clear tone is beautiful. The man’s a menace, and has the best laugh.
The rest of them are close behind though. Wow has really been getting to me lately.
They're were all originally trained to be vocalists, but after the 2 supposed rappers left before debut, Byeongkwan (or just BK if it's easier for you) and Sehyoon (Wow) took on the roles of rappers. Their whole origin story as well as their own paths in music and dance and the industry are really interesting and I think you'd really enjoy it. There's a very popular guide that I think is great, but more recently someone made a really long one that's almost like a movie and it's amazing. Knowing you love long detailed guides that might be just up your ally. Besides the amazing vocals, they're all really talented dancers/choreographers and they've all dipped into songwriting/composing/producing.
Oh and to answer some questions, BK is not American tho he did live in Canada for a bit as a child and is fluent in english (he's going to serve as a translator in KATUSA for his military service).
They were the only act in their company till last year when 1st gen idol and musical actor SHY and a vocal group Forestella signed to their label as well.
Chan is missing in Take Me Higher cause back in 2017 they decided to join 2 survival programs in hopes of promoting the group, and Chan got to debut in the group that came out of one of the programs so he was away for most activities in 2018. Wow is missing in the Down MV (but his voice is still in the song) because he took a mental health break trough April and a part of May last year.
Some other song recomendations besides the other MV's that I'm sure we'll get in part 2 are: Jindo Arirang, 5tar, Stand By You, Slow Dive, My Lover, Black and Blue (both the unit and ot5 version), So Sick, Atlantis

Undercover is one of my all time fav kpop songs. It is just so good. One of the best underrated groups out there. Their covers are amazing! Their cover of 5SOS Youngblood is one of my favs.

When you were talking about blend you made me think of Super Junior, an old kpop reactor i used to watch back then loved Super Junior and his harmonies he said and i quote: when they sing they sound like one but if you know them well enough you are able to spot their voices separately and each time i listen to the song i spot a different member in the same part of the song it makes it a new experience.

yaaaaas a.c.e is literally my ult group i'm so glad you got around to checking them out, they're wonderful. they're all great singers but donghun and jun are some of my favorite vocalists in the industry right now. jun has such a unique tone to his voice (and, fun fact, he starred in a boy's love series last year, and talked in an interview about how he did it to show support for their substantial lgbtq+ fanbase, literally king shit, he's my bias lmao)

I love how the description of the voices and their tones from you at 39:30 really matched their personality. Chan is clear and youthful, kind of aggressive in a way that he has high energy and he is a pure vitamin C sometimes. Donghun is deeper, more emotional and soulful, which translates his introverted side and personality of thinker. And Jun between them, playing the role of balancer and mediator. He is a leader of the group, he takes that role very well and in a lot of times has to be the that middle ground.

Jun is my bias (he was recently the lead in a boylove kdrama!!) but they're all amazing and it's impossible not to stan them! For songs I would recommend Jindo Arirang (a traditional folk song they remixed), I Feel So Lucky (Okay, this is for the music video more than anything but trust me, it's worth a watch), Spark - very cute OST for a boylove drama, Callin' and Slow Dive. Byeongkwan and Chan are former JYP trainees. Jun, Donghun and Wow are former CJ E&M Trainees. Their CEO was a former manager in CJ E&M and recruited Donghun, Wow and Jun to join her company. Byeongkwan and Chan was recommended by a JYP vocal trainer. They joined the company without auditioning and became a group. Their company is one of the companies out there.

I'm so glad you are liking A.C.E., they are so underrated, mostly by knetz and I really don't understand, these guys are so freaking talented it's ridiculous, and they are 1of the groups where I have never been able to pick even 3 biases, so I just bias the whole group...
In the cover video, my favorite cover from the vocal line, the order they are sitting in from l to r is Chan the maknae, Jun the leader, and Donghun the main vocal.. for a cover with all 5 I recommend the Empty Space cover, it's my favorite with the whole group followed closely by Youngblood....interestingly, Chan has my favorite voice, 1of my favorite 4th gen voices period, but to me it sounds like he needs more/better vocal training cuz his voice is so naturally powerful, but it's like he is afraid to or doesn't know how to use all of the power and at times he actually uses more of that power his voice sounds different, and you can hear what I mean on 1of the more powerful notes he sings near the end of that Someone You Loved cover
During "Take m higher" the maknae,Chan, was in another project, so that's why there are 4. During "Down" WOW was on a hiatus. Rn Donghun, WOW & Jun are in the military.

The Goblin they are referring to is a ddokaebi which is quite different from western folklore. DKDKTV did an explained on this and the folklore and some of the cultural references if you want something more in depth from an actual korean person but from what I (not a korean person) understand: They are much more chaotic neutral than bad or evil like we think of in western folklore. I would attribute how they relate to humans in more of a "fae" fashion where they are mischievous and tricky sometimes helpful but sometimes not. The chant in the chorus is effectively "Bring on silver bring on gold" a reference to an actual ddokaebi folklore (source: the DKDKtv explaination)
From Wikipedia: Dokkaebi are different from ghosts, called gwisin (귀신) in Korean, in that they are not formed by the death of a human being, but rather by the spiritual possession of an inanimate object such as old discarded household tools like brooms, or objects stained with human blood.[4]

I'm glad you came back to A.C.E. I love your explanation for the lack of shirts: The company decided shirts just didn't need to be in the budget. LOL Beat Interactive is the only entertainment company started by a female CEO. They now have another group and a soloist as well.
Donghun has the thicker, emotional voice. Junhee the more laid back voice with range and Chan has the more "steady" voice. Byeongkwan (BK) is our Fairy King rapper who loves defying fashion standards and WOW is our 4D alien rapper. (Goblins are more like fairies in our western mythology. They charm mortals and perform magic and the chorus is actually a traditional way to call out to the Goblins. The song and video combine modern and traditional elements.)

A.C.E are all rounders, they all can sing can rap can dance and song writing. I'm so glad you like them so much and I believe that you will fall deeper in them when you check out more their musics. A.C.E also is cover king, they have many dance and song covers which received many attentions.

Since it's true that there is a lot of time to get into them atm, I really recommend you to watch some non-music content later as well, both funny and serious. Funny for obvious reasons, and serious because the members themselves, their personalities, willingness to share good and bad personal experiences, their love for A.C.E and Choice, all of this made A.C.E into the group it is now.

SVT and ACE are my ults! I love them. It is much harder to pick an ACE bias than you would think, considering there are only 5 members. It took me six months to settle on one, and then when I saw them in concert a few weeks later, I was bias wrecked by literally every member! I was completely charmed by the whole group. Like I was already a fan when I went to the concert, but I walked out ready to fight people for them.
Higher came out last summer and is worth a listen - it's a different sound for them, and the mv is beautiful. I also really loved Changer, which is the song they dropped right before Donghun and Wow enlisted in September. It's also the only lighthearted/cute mv that has all five members.🥺You've already heard my two fav covers, but they're really all next level.

Higher is a beautiful masterpiece both vocally and visually. The fact that it was solely focused on just vocals and no rap is where it enhances the song's beauty and how can we forget the intro- miserere mei deus ✨

42:12 also, just wanted to clear up, that the high range you hear is actually Donghun (guy in the far right). He switches immediately to high range when Jun comes in with the middle range ;) They always sing this way in live version as well. But, Jun has higher range too, as you've heard in the other song~ They're known for amazing harmonization. A lot of times they break out in harmonized acapella, and they're just so good!
