Welcome back to another video, which must be my favourite one so far! In this video I show you how to save over £2220 :D! I recreated this beautiful Dior Book Tote for £22 instead of the hefty price of £2250!
I am showing you each and every step in the video, however just know that the fabric I used was upholstery fabric, which has got a lot of structure to it. I just used google to search for pink and beige upholstery fabric and found this lovely fabric which I thought was a very good match! Let me know if you want more information on that!

I think by just cutting your interfacing a half inch or so shorter would alleviate a lot of the bulk in the seams but especially the corners. (I know this video is 2 years old, but just in case someone is going to use your pattern idea in the future.)

Definitely picking up some techniques from this! I wanted to make a structured dog bag like the book tote but with curved side opening to allow her head to peak out. Still need to figure that part out lol
I am so glad to hear that 😍 these side of things are usually the easier to adjust once you started sewing and constructing it, it requires less brain qymnastics that way as you see it in front of you 😀

Great job ! Very beautiful! But i would suggest the fabric for the handles be cut on the bias if u have enough fabric so there are not so many wrinkles on the straps / handles.

Thank you so much! ❤️ Yes I only ordered one meter but is was quite wide so you definitely need more than 1x1 m. I think mine was 1.5x1m or something like that ❤️

Hey - thank you so much! :) I don't have a pattern that I could share, but I basically only created rectangles in the measurements of the original bag :) I used upholstery fabric so that it would have more structure and texture than normal fabric :)

Hi! I am glad you like it😍 Yes, the 2 cm was seam allowance, so just make sure to add that to the pattern so the bag doesn't become smaller with every seam :)❤️

Hi! Thank you for this video!! I would like to know if you add 2cm on each side? For example on the length of your pattern it is 108cm, so with the 2cm it will be 118cm?, 51,5cm wide? And 40,5cm for depth?
Hi :) yes, so for every seam I added 2 cm, so for every rectangle of the pattern I added 2 cm on the side :)

What is that white material you sawed into the fabric ? You called it interface ?? Is that necessary? What exactly is it ?
Hi Andrea :) It's called interfacing - it's similar to canvas paper and can be ironed onto your fabric to give it more structure and thickness.
It is not necessary as such, I just felt like it gave my bag the structure it needed as otherwise it would have looked more like a jute bag - so it's entirely up to you :) You could also just use more layers of fabric instead, however interfacing is cheaper and can be used for lots of different projects :)

Hi Arlene, your bag will be floppier because it doesn’t have the “backbone” of a nice stiff fabric like upholstery :) if you added a layer of buckram or other stuff fabric in between that would help a lot. (Edit: stuff->stiff)

@@recreatefulchannel I think what she meant was, after the bag was sewn all the way around, there was a good amount you cut off. Was that on purpose? or there was an excess on the pattern?

Ahh I see! Yes, so that was basically excess seam allowance :) I always cut my patterns quite generously as I am afraid it could end up too small. And I added 2 cm per side which was twice the amount I actually needed :)

How long are the Stribs 5 cm and the lenth?
As long as your bag is wide (the front and back of your bag + 2x the depth of the bag) as it has to fit all around it. And you have to add seam allowance of course

Hi :) No problem! - I made them 5 cm wide each and the length I just eyeballed but I measured it and it is 45 cm including seam allowance :) 💖💖

I used the heaviest I could find :) It almost feels like canvas paper (which I believe you could also use instead!)

for me it not recreating. its very different. i have the dior bag and looking at it its not the same.
Of course it won't be the same :) a recreation is not a duplicate and it would simply be wrong if I was able to create an exact replica :D x
