    Ooh yes! I was looking forward to finding out how the modal engine performed with my Osmose. Thank you for showing us :)

      How it works on the Osmose is becoming one of my main criteria to evaluate gear/software…

    Excellent review. Most of the other reviews on this software just show it making noise: this is the only one I've seen that concentrates on playable and usable sound creation. Thank you.

    I think you need a comp on this video.

    • @AlessandroMastroianni
      @AlessandroMastroianni  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Comp as in compressor or as in compensation? I’ll take the latter 😂
      I like compressors too.

      @@AlessandroMastroianni Compressor or maybe work on the levels? I tried listening to this in the truck and is kind of hard to hear your voice. Or if I push the volume higher I can't stay in :)) Hope you don't mind :))

    How is the CPU hit?

    • @AlessandroMastroianni
      @AlessandroMastroianni  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      It is very dependent on the engine used, on the FX and on the polyphony. I haven’t noticed a difference compared to 5, it’s really solid on my machine.

    INCREDIBLY stupid decisions during designing of the workflow! 🤯 No PAN control of each sound source! Can you imagine that? Panorama control occurs ONLY inside Filters 🤡 Inability to modulate all Effects' parameters. No Uni/Bipolar modulation switching without switching the modulator itself. It's the same prob of Phase Plant but there you can easily solve it by duplicating modulator as many times as it's necessary. Idiotic "send effects" invention. It's worth better to make larger amount of Effects, like 5-6 in FXA and 5-6 in FXB. No Midi Random modulation - a common modulation that randomizes a parameter with each note but without deep adjustments, really often feature but there's none of it and INSTEAD they strewed a handsome of zero-useful Combinate modulators 🤡 No Modulation Remapping!!! HUGE fail of Frenchies 🤦🏻‍♂ I'm not even telling of inverted Modulation Remapping which is implemented in Vital, can be made in Phase Plant and seemingly is OUT of any comprehension by such "whales" like Arturia, u-He or overhyped Minimal Audio. 😑 And that is for 200 bucks or 100 with the discount?! In 2025th? SERIOUS?

      Thank you so much for your comment and for sharing your thoughts! :)
      Make sure you give Pigments another go because I can think of a solution to every single one of the issues you listed using nothing but Pigments, showing that maybe you should just dig a bit deeper

      @@AlessandroMastroianni No offense but according your answer it seems you didn't actually understand I was talking about. I'll try to explain with "challenge accepted" style. Again - no offense!
      Issue #1: Build up Series chain of Filters, which is optioned by default. Say a common Cutoff and then creative Comb filter. Now leave 1st Engine in 1 voice Unison statement to guarantee mono-like sounding. And make 2nd Engine to perform from left or right sides of panorama each time when the key is pressed. You won't be able to do it with no touching the panorama of 1st Engine.
      Or
      Build up same Series chain of Filters of Cutoff and then LoFi but now take anything in the 1st Engine and choose "Birds Forest" from "Field Recordings" in Utility Engine. Then make birds singing from different places with LFO leaving the general sound in the center. You won't be able to do it with no touching the panorama of 1st Engine. Yes, you always can apply to Filter in the FX sections but is it SO hard to implement PAN control for each Sound source in 2025? For 200 bucks?
      Issue #2: Inability to modulate Effects' parameters:
      Try to modulate Attack of Compressor; Gain and Q parameters of EQ; Delay, Depth and Voices of Chorus; Rate and Phase of Chorus Jun; Delay, Depth, HP Freq and LP Freq of Flanger; Rate, Depth and Feedback of Flanger BL; LFO Amount, NPoles and Stereo of Phaser; Cutoff of Monobass of Panner.
      Issue #3: Make LFO1 to perform its modulation of Filter1 in Unipolar mode and SIMULTANEOUSLY perform its modulation of Position of Wavetable OSC in Bipolar mode without moving Position of Wavetable to zero and consequent modulating it to max. No! None of cheating. Just pure simple Bipolar modulation of 0.500 Position of Wavetable OSC by LFO1. Impossible! You have to apply to some tricks like moving Position of Wavetable to zero first and "compensate" a lack of Bipolar modulation because LFO1 is in Unipolar mode initially. It's compromises, not flexibility definitely. Once again and again you stumble into some compromise being not aware of you do it for YOUR money!
      Issue #4: Modulate Macro 1 with Macro 2 (and both rest Macro too). Say, you can turn the initial Preset into Sequenced sound with Macro 1 and then into something another with Macro 2 so that you'll have to reduce Sequence. Impossible.
      Additionally found issue:
      No input with keyboard. This really facilitates to pace up the speed of the workflow. You don't have to tune the position with mouse.
      P.S.: Although, I have to admit.
      1 Checked their demo once again and found they implemented inverted Aux Modulation, which I described by inverted Modulation Remapping, so actually with Macro you can switch off a number of modulations and switch on another bunch of them. Undoubtedly, it's awesome! Didn't already believe I can run across anything same as the flexibility of Vital or Phase Plant.
      2 Also, Combinate Modulators are really creative and can represent a rich source of making the sound variable.
      3 Choosing a Modulator in "Retrig Source" of another Modulator creates interesting modulation line. REALLY creative approach. Adding smooth switching from one source to another in the future would just blow minds of community, I suppose.

    Still thin, lifeless, cold sounding, still just a toy for kids.
    Ultimate softsnthh? You must be kidding.

    Pigments being "the ultimate softsynth" is a joke. The "most complete soft synth on the market" is even funnier. It's not even in the top five most complete in my plugin folder let alone on the market. Tell me you're a shill for Arturia without actually telling me you're a shill for Arturia.

    • @AlessandroMastroianni
      @AlessandroMastroianni  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I made pretty clear that I work for Arturia as a freelancer, but my opinion is quite genuine and I haven’t been paid to make this video. I’ve even bought Pigments with my own money.
      I’d be interested which synth you consider more complete, and I’m not being provocative, I’m genuinely interested as I work as a sound designer for several companies and I’d love to know if I’m missing out on something. There are certainly great synths out there.
