It's so fun learning these licks and hearing them in other peoples solos! I can't put my finger on what song I've seen on TH-cam but Chris Thile has definetly used this lick in some of his amazing solos!
Firstly, great lesson. When you cycle through the different chord tones for the resolve note, the 5th has a really strong feeling of having the harmony shift to the V chord when the lick starts on the downbeat. I'd probably avoid that or devise a way to pickup the lick before the downbeat to keep that floating feeling and voiding a resolve into the V chord.
This is a really fun lick to practice, thanks Magnus!
Cool Marjorie!

Thanks so much! I love the mandolin and played mandolin in the Coal Porters. We are in TH-cam too. Anyway I am now a subscriber. 👍🏻
As a long time guitar player getting started back with Mando this was very easy to follow and understand. great work on a simple but effective lick(s)
Thanks Nash! Glad to hear that!

Thanks Dan! I´m glad to hear that.
I will be working on this next.
Yes Gary, it's worth the time!

Yes true, it feels like a harmony shift. You can go to root or third if you want to avoid that. Cool you picked that up!
Magnus thank you very much!
Which make of mandolin have you used here in this video?
Looks like a Phoenix Select to me.
Yes, it´s a Phoenix mandolin. I Love it!

Where is this 'lick' found in "Tombstone Junction"? Thanks.
Hi Mike! I play it in the B-part. It would be in bar 7, if that make sense. :-)
@@MandolinSecrets No, not really. I count 16 bars total, 8 for Part A and 8 for Part B. ????
