      AMEN I am discovering that. I am natural and I want to relax just to see my length, but I don't want to start the whole journey over because my hair is softer now, and my scalp is very tender. I'm just going to find me a good natural hairstylist to keep me together because the struggle is real and I do understand wanting a perm. It takes a lot to manage Thick curly hair. Some people will never understand what we go through.

      @@chelseaaneke alr thank you. I haven't had any issues with relaxing other than occasional scalp irritation which didn't affect my hair growth. • @tammybenaytv4631
      @tammybenaytv4631 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Right! Black women don’t need “super” strength relaxers. We don’t need bone straight hair. I think the natural movement has taught the relaxed community that. Relaxers should be to “relax” your curl pattern slightly to make the hair more manageable. And it definitely shouldn’t be left on long enough for burns. At that point it is over-processed. But when we know better, we do better.

    I don't have a problem with people who relax their hair. It's whatever works for you. I just got tired of burns on my scalp and my hair having no volume whatsoever. Ever since I went natural, I learned how to manage the hair that God blessed me without thinking there is anything wrong with the way it grows out of my head. The day I feel like getting my hair straight, I go for a silk press or a Dominican blowout and my curls will revert after a few weeks but once i apply a relaxer my curls are gone until I big chop. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

    I wanted to see you curl her hair, do a bob, or something more since she wanted a relaxer, but I do understand the pain of trying to slick down thick unrelaxed hair. She asked for it, and you gave it to her. This one of my faves from back in the day when I did my own hair in school, but I used to get that swoop with the black gel, or glue in a track or two and rock Chinese or regular bangs. Them was the days when hairstyles lasted a while. I think these products now are watered down or something because nothing lasts long like they did in the 90s.

      It’s because she’s natural. So you don’t want uneven results. You have to start at the ends when it’s a virgin relaxer. Hope that helps 💓

    I noticed you used no lye here but lye another time. Why did you do that? Do you think no lye leaves behind calcium buildup?

    • @FolaFash
      @FolaFash  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always prefer lye but some clients have sensitive scalp so that’s when I use no-lye. Her decision to relax was a little impromptu and she had been manipulating her hair a lot prior so I had a feeling her scalp would be sensitive so just to be safe I used the sensitive scalp relaxer.

      It depends on what you’re trying to achieve honestly. If you still want your curls but just want to make it more manageable for you then a keratin treatment is usually a good idea.

    Here's my story , when i was 9-10 my mom used relaxer , bc it was easier to create hair cut and stuff straigtened them, then i grew up doing braids keep them 1 month then went natural until the next braid box etc Now today i don't even know how long i am natural without hairstyle ( no wigs no braids) since october 2019 , yall im not a fan of hairecare routine brushing and brushinng it demands so muche timeeee I'm a student i don't have time to waste for hair routine , brush it every morning SO now in quarantine I've decided to have my hair relaxe because if you see my hair .. a mess
