    Well first. Advise customer to R.T.F.M. Yea it is a thick book but they will learn a lot. Second is I sent my 3000 in twice under warranty and they still not fix the issue. I looked at the unit myself finally. The screws for the voltage regulators were loose. I have never had a problem since. And last but definitely not least. THANK YOU for the peek inside such a beautiful radio.

      I thought that it might be something simple from the beginning. I suppose the lesson to be learned is that overlooking the simple stuff can baffle the best of us and usually does. Your thorough approach to the problem leaves little to nothing to be overlooked. A connector jarred loose in shipping or a hungover assembly tech could have been responsible for the headphone problem. And menu driven radios can be daunting. Another commenter said R.T.F.M. That's always true, but that is also a lot to retain. I love watching you work.

    Transceivers get more and more complex - for the operators, not switching on the keyer and for the manufacturer not connecting the connectors correctly. Good job!

    From day one, Yaesu took care of me with the first no-cost repair due to a cabling connector known issue and installation of all of the extra filters. The FTdx-1001Mp is simply awesome. The only problems is that few software packages support it HRD being one of the few that does. Also, if you do not read the manual, good luck.

    A good one, Peter! I would have jumped on the opportunity to clean the connector first, but I am lazy.
    To be honest, the lack of any slack in cables will create such issues. It is unpardonable in my opinion.
    I mean, the whole bundle is routed on top of the connector, ffs. Nobody paid any interest in routing logically, in an engineering fashion. Make it fit seems to be the name of the game. With a 5000+Euro device you pay a premium and expect perfection. Not the case here

    Very happy with my FTDX101MP, though I did kill it on the first day! Fortunately VRF150s are relatively inexpensive and very easy to obtain. I put it down to finger trouble on my part (too high audio level on FT8) but did find the FETs were not screwed down firmly. A great performing radio but of course a lot of settings to play with. I took the opportunity to fit all of the optional filters, hopefully I will not be seeing the inside of the radio again for a very long time.
    In defence of Yaesu, the rig you are working on has some accessory filters fitted, the 101MP is normally shipped with 3 vacant filter slots. It is possible that a dealer fitting the 1200Hz filters to this radio disturbed the connector. 73

    • @conorturton
      @conorturton 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yaesus makes no sense. I have both an Icom 7300 and FTDx10. On the Icom if I want to change band I touch the MHz on the screen and the band options come up. On the Yaesu if I press the MHz I can only use the rotary dial to change the MHz by 1MHz increments which is of no use at all outside of the 10m band and pointless. Why can't it bring up onscreen buttons with the bands on like Icom?

Most menu items are set once and forgotten about. The Yaesu menu system developed for the new FTdx line is still organized into groups, but they are under the function pop-up and accessed by buttons on the touchscreen. Yaesu radio ergonomics are beyond strange. Whoever they get to design how you interact with the radio controls needs to be fired and they need to hire someone from Icom or Kenwood.
