Bought your bundle. Playing the piano for ... 10 weeks now, took me three hours to play this. It really is not that hard, and playing it is the most fun you could have with your pants on. Thank you!
This is the kind of lesson that i always looking for Very nice lesson video Please make for video like this, Thankyou so much Greeting from indonesia (And please pardon my english🙏😊)
David. I now need 8 days a week thanks to the shear volume of what you have up uploaded - and the quality is of a high standard indeed. I use my snip tool in Windows to copy your notation and it works a treat!!!. You may have already done this, but we like stuff harmonised? Maybe some lessons on one or two classics - if you have the time, of course.
Hey i‘m new to jazz and i totally love your style but the thing i was asking myself throughout the whole vid is if you are using specific jazz scales or just improvising over all 12 notes
Very, very nice. To my mind this lesson sits right in the sweet spot for intermediate players like my humble self who have most of the theory down but can use more help applying it while deepening their knowledge of and ability to use and elaborate on the basic idiomatic licks you have to know. I'll be checking your stuff out more and might even throw a few euros your way, it looks that good. : )
Great lesson David, I like your work. I think you mean for the right hand to play an octave higher. Also there are 41/2 beats in measure 8. Throwing some curves at us.
Hello David, what exactly do I have to learn to understand how to play lick no.1 jazz improvisation etude. I want to learn to improvise in jazz and I haven't had a lot of luck on youtube yet. I can improvise in blues but its pretty complicated to understand jazz. Do you use a specific key for this chord progression? Is there a specific way to improvise in jazz? like moving to a different key while improvising? I only know about the 2-5-1 scale as of now. Thanks, and I hope you can help me!
if youre willing to pay for tuition check out Jamesstelling.com, I know the guy he is one of a kind musician and can give you golden advice improvising with Jazz, I think I respect him more than any other musician and his expertise criminally unknown. check him out hes a great musical contact to have
Hi david, love your work. I just wanted to ask if it’s okay to use a couple of these licks in some music I make? It’s all just for fun and I post them on soundcloud to make hip hop-style beats etc, would just want your consent to do so in the future. All credit for the sampling would of course come back to you, cheers!
Hi David, I love your phrasing ,simply beautiful to the ear! Can you tell me is there a reason for the licks being specifically used over the I-VI-II-V ? & do you also have a full BLUES(12 bars of) improv PDF for sale like on your Autumn Leaves 'Scales For Improv' ?
The name of the tune that the lick is taken from is " People" by Oscar Peterson (Album:We get requests) Check it out! My favourite of his songs, had it playing in my head seconds after opening this video..
The Man In The Void considering the chord progression is just a 1-6-2-5 throughout, once you master this etude you can put it into any jazz standard or really any song you wanted
challenge yourself and try to do it in C. I am a guitarist, and I worked this etude on my piano and on other keys than the ones shown here! Great video, download it and work it out by ear and you will thank me later buddy
Cheers for the video content! Sorry for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you thought about - Riddleagan Smart Hands Remedy (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is an awesome one off product for learning piano fast minus the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin after a lifetime of fighting got amazing results with it.
Sorry for that. I have another website where I teach piano and upload my videos, so the last 7 months I had to create a lot of new lessons to keep my members happy. But I really miss youtube now, and I will come back with new lessons very soon :)
Lesson 1: Do not mount a mic on the piano or on a stand that's on a noise conducting floor. Use a shock mount. In case this is not possible, edit the sound and get rid of the low frequencies before ever posting to youtube. Thank you for learning. ;-)
So nice! So great!
You are the best teacher I love your lessons soooo much

David Magyel nice thanks for the answer!
hey man for some reason I can't see David's reply, I'm interested in what you're asking, could you tell me what he answered please? thanks :)
@@Manukapp He's using the blues scale throughout the whole video.
@@str8todamoney not quite true. He's also using the altered scale plus a lot of chromatic passing notes.
Manukapp it looks like the melodic minor with the blues note added
Thx you enjoy lesson
Just wondering how do you train your time? Precission? Groove? How do you use your metronom?
Very good
Great
I love you bro
This is exactly the type of jazz/blues I was looking for!! Curious though if you make any use of the pedal in these licks?
I dont think so honestly, I didn't hear the sustain being in use in the video
How do you come up with chord progressions for these? They're amazing so I'm just wondering what your thoughts process is for composing them
Nvm, just realized its a 1-6-2-5 all the way through. Sounds amazing
Hey!Very good ! Like!!!Laya
Muito bom

Great lesson David, I like your work. I think you mean for the right hand to play an octave higher. Also there are 41/2 beats in measure 8. Throwing some curves at us.
Hi David, could you play 'I've grown accustomed to her face' from Chet Baker's playing?
Thank you

Check out jonny May's videos. He has some great ones on using the major jazz scale aka the gospel scale.
Thank you, David!

Is the option to have whole score in one page available?
David! How about Waltz for JB by Mehldau, I know you love it (:
Jacob K. It will come soon ;)
Where can I find notes of this?
is this score e-book?

한국어라서 답변 해주실 지는 모르겠지만 원래 재즈에서는 악보에 나와있는데로 말고 약간 변형을 하나요? 악보랑 다르게 치네요
I love Jazz
오지랍 죄송하지만 재즈악보는 클래식과 다르게 8분음표가 붙점이 붙습니다^^ 앞에음이 길어요.

How you think i should learn that?
Bb. B
Thank you for this good video, however I advise people to practice with the metronome on 2 and 4 rather than on every beat.
das clases en español?
No doy clases particulares de piano. Lo siento :-/
Anyone know any good songs that this could go into a solo or something?
The Man In The Void considering the chord progression is just a 1-6-2-5 throughout, once you master this etude you can put it into any jazz standard or really any song you wanted

David Magyel Your jazzy piano taste truly impresses me then. People who heard me playing to your compositions seemed to enjoy it a lot too
BlackOldDragon thank you. That's nice of you to say.

Why do all the best people have to leave TH-cam for like 7 months
Sorry for that. I have another website where I teach piano and upload my videos, so the last 7 months I had to create a lot of new lessons to keep my members happy. But I really miss youtube now, and I will come back with new lessons very soon :)
David Magyel oh! Ok then! Its just that a lot of REALLY good player just up and disappear from the face of TH-cam. Glad to hear you haven’t :)

ikstephan Wait, are you talking to me? :o
You understand that they did this for free, for your enjoyment/education. Why are you acting so entitled?
I can’t understand sense of this lesson, really.
