    I could never do that at my age (62), but I could totally live in one if one was made for me, and I would be very content. Would be an excellent lifestyle in my declining years, simple and quiet.

    Great job keeping it purely woodsy.
    Bushcraft is all about using what is available in the surrounding area.
    This is bushcraft in its purest form.
    The only cheat was using the tarp for your roof. I suppose one could make cedar shakes/shingles, cut purlins, and create a 100% bushcraft building but I'm impressed with the skills and precision of the build.

    • @anonymoususer855
      @anonymoususer855 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also his cutting board, wood stove, and pipe/chimney. But yes, the rest is woodsy, bushcraft with what was available in the surrounding area.

    An outstanding Cabin you have made their partner. Oh, the bigger the wood stove the less times you have to wake up in the middle of a freezing night to feed the Dag-gone thing. The smaller wood stoves are ravenous and require feeding very often. Other than that, I'd be quite comfortable living in your very well-built cabin. I am getting ready to erect a split rail fence along my driveway. The lumber comes pre-measured and precut to order and it came with a price tag that makes you want to cry, but that's the modern world for you. Besides that, I'm 70 years young now so I have to cheat some to get done what I want. I enjoy your video very much!!!!!

      There was a Scandinavian company called Jotul, that made wonderful little woodstoves that heated for very long periods with a minimum of fuel. The prices were quite high, but so was the quality. Don't know if they're still in business though.

    One suggestion, one thing i often see, is that people dont really build their beds big enough to accommodate themselves plus their dog.
    Like, measure its length streched out, and its width curled up, and add those measurements to your bed. Cause you know he's going be jumping up there anyways, might as well plan for it.

      Read through the comments just to find someone else who had enough knowledge of wood and forestry to understand that at least a year in advance all these picture-perfect logs had to be cut, stacked and dried somewhere. Far more likely these were several years prepped by a commercial company that delivered them precut to specified/equivalent length to wherever this build occurred.

    There is a better way to make a hinged door or window by using a base piece with two end pieces that you can attach to the main wall. the base piece which will rotate should be widdled down to a dowel on each end and the pieces you will attach to the main wall having a hole for the dowel's to go into before you attach the small pieces to the wall. You have the auger, knife or saw, and nails to make the dowels on each end and attach the small pieces. It would be better and much more stable than cordage.

    That was a great build, one problem I had with the video man I hope you shared that food with your best friend. You gave him a look like what this is all mine.And you sat right in front of him and ate both of those HB. If you did my bad, if you didn't you selfish human dad of his!

    Here I am watching this guy cookin' up a healthy meal in his hand made cabin, with hand made tools while I eat a bag of chips waiting for the world to collapse 👍
    I don't know why I keep watching past the log part, but I kinda like it!

    Very good way of building a log , but I think that you should have made the door out of the wood that you have cutten( stronger one in case of any predators) and how about the insulations esp. when it is winter time?
