  • Ile Ife, also known as Ife, is an ancient Yoruba city in the southwestern part of Nigeria. Ile Ife is said to be dated around 500 B.C. when it was founded and is the oldest Yoruba city. It is presently part of Osun State and has an estimated population of 501,000 people. It is an ancient Yoruba city in southwestern Nigeria. The city is located in present-day Osun State. Ife is about 218 kilometers northeast of Lagos with a population of 509,813, the highest in Osun State according to the population census of 2006.
Ile Ife is the city where the Yoruba believe their civilization began as well as the location where the gods descended to earth. The name, Ile Ife, literally means place of dispersion. According to Yoruba tradition, Ife was founded by the deities Oduduwa and Obatala when they created the world. Obatala fashioned the first humans out of clay while Oduduwa became the first divine king of the Yoruba people.
Ilé-Ifè is famous worldwide for its ancient and naturalistic bronze, stone and terracotta sculptures, dating back to between 1200 and 1400 A.D.

But their on Twitter sharing stories of times they’ve never lived, debating about things that contribute in no way to enhance or improve their living conditions. Someone once said nigeria is a grave. They should come together to change that.

Please note that there has been two other Ifes. Ife-Oodaye existed elsewhere and was part of the esoteric world during early days of create (Oodaye mean "arrival into the world). The second Ife was called Ife-Oyelagbo, of those that survived the flood (Oye-lagbo; Oye means "survived"; and L'agbo means "inside a physical object). The current Ile-Ife was pushed down due to clashes and wars with Fulanis (descendants of so-called Phillistines in the bible; sometimes referred to as Pel people, and which match the Pel-ish-tites for the Phillistines in the Bible Strong Concordance).

So sad. To see what has become of Africa*. Once a continent of knowledge, power, and Great kingdoms. I am proud that some of my ancestors came from those places. Once walked the city. It just breaks my heart, to see how many of us are still under colonia* mind control, so lost.

It's disgraceful that Ife is so shabby and dirty. When will Africa stop disgracing itself and its ancestors? Ife was beautiful in its glorious past. We are not a people who like filth. In the religion IFA dirt is equated with bad character and negative energy. Our traditional religions kept us in balance. Colonial thinking has made us have NO RESPECT for ourselves and our surroundings. ALL African descendants, collectively bear the brunt of this shame we impose on ourselves!!! Nigeria has everything but respect for the people and their presentation to the world. Be on code, the world judges us but more importantly God sees this 🙄.
