Shakti upasana was in Bengal from vedic time. Ramakrishna Dev comes in a long line of sadhaks, but not the first.
Bengal used to worship Sakta devis like Chamunda, Chandi from Pal, Sen era. Kali upasna was started later but was limited to tantra upasaks. It got popularized in every household during the time of sadhak Krishnananda Agambagish and Raja KrishnaChandra.
Maa has a loving look and nothing is beautiful than her. Why other Indians are not able to realise it. They also misunderstands her but how elegance and protective she for us. Having Maa we want nothing ☺️She is our loveliest daughter ❤️
It's not bhram. The iconography of Kali in North India is the proof how they see her. Not as mother, just as destroyer.
They are used to worship her as Mahadev's wife, Ganesha's mother. But not as she really is, in her truest form.

Sati became angry not because Lord Shiva said no for joining her father's yagya but because, when she reached to the yagya and found no place for herself and her husband, she asked her father the reason behind it, but instead her father started saying inappropriate words for Shiva and hearing such words for her husband, she could not hold it in and jumped into the fire. When Lord Shiva came to know about this he got very angry and sent his two ganas, Virabhadra and Devi Bhadrakali, and these two powerful ganas of Shiva destroyed everything.❤

One day Maa Kali was in her raudra roop and was destroying each and everything/being on her way so there was only one way to stop her and make her calm and that's when Mahadev came and lied down and she stepped on him and when she realised that it is a sin and she did a mistake that's when she stucked her tongue out (like we people stuck our tongue out when we do mistake)
So most of the statue of Maa Kali have her tongue out and stepping/standing on Lord Shiva
I am from Kolkata nd kali puja is very much popular here. We born nd bought up in this culture so there's no need to think about dark side of it but a mother is always will be a mother for us so doesn't matter if it's kali Or durga it's always the same.

One correction is that Chinnamasta isn't the 3rd Mahavidya from Das Mahavidya she is the 6th Mahavidya and Shodashi is the 3rd Mahavidya and Kali doesn't stand on a corpse she stands on Lord Shiva
You guys have to cover some more like this video because there are many more terrible Maa Shakti's rup are there in our culture. One named Devi Matangi ,She is also very terrific and dangerous for Tantra Sadhana that's also under 10th Mahavidhya's 9th Mahavidhya's Devi.
Also you should search on Bhoot Damar Tantra ,this topics are very very mysterious as well as dangerous.

Honestly, when I was little, I used to always, around evening, go to a beautiful framed pic of maa Kali and tell her about my day. I would say things like "Pata hai aaj mai gir gayi thi but mujhe zyada chot nahi lagi aur dard nahi hua, aapne help kari thi na meri?" and "Mere friends aapse darte hai but aap toh humesha mujh pyaar karte ho". I miss my old self. The thing is, I stopped believing in God and devi devtas since my younger brother(who was five)'s death. The accident happened behind A durga maa and shiv ji's mandir, which fucked me up so much that I stopped believing in them. Now that I think of it, Maa Kali and other Gods have always been by my side. I just couldn't see it, and for some reason, this video reminded me of myself as a child when I used to tell Maa Kali about literally everything about my day. Ever damn day.
Also, for some reason, I always found comfort in Maa Bhairavi. Like, I don't feel afraid of her, instead, I feel a type of comfortness whenever her name is mentioned, as thought she's been there for me since day 1. I feel like she tries to help us humans so much, yet a lot of us say we gotta be afraid of her. Am I the only one?
