From the cities of the midwest to the golden beaches of the south, from the golden arches in the west to the great port of New York an uprising has ignited and the Holy Pure Empire of Waifus has been declared. Current fighting in major cities has shown an uncertain result to the conflict with Atlanta being declared a capital by the movement as their first major captured city. As if the fact that he is aware it's cringe as hell means that he can't possibly be cringe himself because he's so self aware. But like no dude, you are not the one chosen guy who is some empathic wiseman sage able to predict the future, and just because you are semi self aware about how you come across like a jackass crank doesn't actually make you any less of a jack ass crank.

Regarding that bit about loneliness, I remember the part that alarmed me rather than the lack of people having sex, was the number of people who say they have no close friends.
Every youtuber providing commentary online seemingly jumped on the lack of sex part. Whereas I'm sat there thinking "Who are you supposed to have sex with, and how are you going to meet people to have sex with, if you have no friends?"
Like there's this fuckwit idea that seems to be going around that getting laid will address someone's loneliness whereas it seems more like people aren’t getting laid BECAUSE they're lonely.

@DMHR100 there are some differences between male and female brains. However, they're not super crazy differences, and if you've ever actually interacted with a wide range of people of both genders, you'd realize the differences are pretty subtle.
Atleast, they're subtle if they're true. The idea that there's any difference at all between the two has come under scrutiny and been debated for a long time now. One of the critiques and challenges to the idea is that long standing different culture norms/ expectations for the two genders have shaped these differences. Men have always been expected to be better at things like math, and for a long time, women were outright prevented from divulging in advanced mathematics. Meanwhile, women have always been expected to be nicer and more sociable, considering the home keeper and mother role which they have historically been designated, even if they didn't want those roles.
So in conclusion, there's a division in academia over whether the idea is actually true or not. However, most research has shown that there are **some** differences in male and female brains structure, and that's likely the cause for the subtle behavioral differences between men and women.

The ultimate acceptance of same sex marriage was implicit in both the movements for Women's liberation and Gay liberation as well. The impact of education and experience on battlefield success has actually been tested on a few occasions. The 77th Infantry Division during WW II was an explicit experiment that demonstrated the superior performance of experienced (life in general and not service) and educated soldiers. There was also a post war analysis of the survivability of Second Lieutenants during firefights in Vietnam. Despite the same training, college educated junior officers survived longer.

@@falloutjustcause the sticking point will definitely be the definition of professional soldier/army. I would tend to agree that professional soldiers have generally been well educated, but, depending on the exact historical period or type of conflict, the percentage of professional soldiers compared to the total number of people fighting could be quite small. For example, before WW I, England had an aristocratic officer corps resulting in low quality officers, poorly trained troops and inefficient bureaucracy. During WW II, a lot of soldiers were conscripted. After WWII, most countries transitioned to a professional and volunteer military because the costs of a standing army were outweighed by the advantage of professional soldiers.

That was an invasion that was only 100km long. That is practically nothing on horse back. But the army generals and the emperor knew it, but there were still nothing he could do, because the Northern Song was purely focused on culture, science, legal studies and trade, they barely had a military. Pretty sure that it's also more just of a trend towards people having their sexual debut at a later age which is probably more likely to be a result of better sex education leading people to make more informed choices about having sex. Usually the very early sexual debuts (before the age of 15) are something that people regret and are usually a result of a lack of proper education about sex. Also as a culture we have started to lift much of the many stigmas around sex so younger people probably just feel more secure in valueing their own comfort and won't rush to have sex just to be able to say they're no longer a virgin. Also of course asexuality is slowly becoming more and more accepted so there's tons of people who now feel comfortable completely opting out of sexual relations.

@FreddaYT So the US ARMY is traditionally divided into Enlisted and Officer ranks as follows.
    E1‐Private
    E2-Private second class
    E3-Private first class
    E4-Specialist/Corporal
    E5-Sergeant
    E6-Staff Sergeant
    E7-Sergeant first class
    E8-Master Sergeant/ First Sergeant
    E9-Sergeant Major
    O1-Second Lieutenant
    O2-First Lieutenant
    O3-Captain
    O4-Major
    O5-Lieutenant Colonel
    O6-Colonel
    O7-Brigadier General
    O8-Major General
    O9-Lieutenant General
O10-General of the ARMY (This is not the literal head of the ARMY)
Theoretically you can do all of enlisted ranks without college, however higher education makes you a better prospect for promotion so it's not uncommon uncommmon even as low as E4.

Addendum there are also Warrant officers WO1 - WO5, these are different from Officers in the traditional sense in they don’t hold commissions but "Warrants" instead but this population is also highly educated like both the commissioned and non-commissioned officer classes.
Financial assistance for education is major draw for enlistment and pursuit of higher education is professionally incentivised in the US Military, whatifalthist is on crack if he thinks the armed forces are full of the uneducated.

I love the idea of saying that the Soviets were "larping" revolution.
They killed the old leaders, fought an extremely violent civil war against counterrevolutionaries who were received both foreign weapons and troops for aid, and they industrialized an agricultural nation in just 9 years (the first 2 5-year plans). It seems to me that they actually did do a revolution, regardless of how a person calling it "larping" feels about that revolution.
If they're referring to the Bolshevik party "larping" before the actual revolution started, that also seems silly. They were outlaws who robbed banks and distributed works advocating revolution. What more could they have done before the rest of the people joined them?

@@hedgehog3180 they distributed a large amount of farmland from their former owners to the actual farmers working them. Many factories were placed under the management of worker coops, thus giving workers immediate control over their own lives as well as income proportional to their productivity. A large proportion of government positions were taken by working people who were nominated by a coop or representative council, etc.
They did start repealing some of these later after the 2nd World War. That's why there isn't a USSR. Cuba performed better in this regard. Once their democratic institutions were sufficiently developed, Cuba got rid of their Communist Party's government functions and the party's ability to nominate candidates for office.
Recall that the USSR existed for 69 years. So there's plenty of time for the intentions of the party to change. But in the pre 2nd World War period, they were undoubtedly invested in giving the people more power. They did so in undeniable economic ways, and the political ways they did it were undoubtedly more serious than anything that's happened under Capitalism, even if one reasonably argues that too much political power was left to the party.

Footnote on your point on re-enactors at the start, I will say though, despite Historical Re-Enactment being very nerdy, it does separate itself from the fantasy LARP in the sense that it actually tries to achieve something. - In Europe it has a long standing following of people dedicated to educating the public on our past and culture.
There are a lot of families and couples who engage in it as a way of doing historical research and physically showing that to others, especially in the UK where there's a huge amount of Viking, Norman and Anglo-Saxon finds, which people then recreate, wear and use.
In the UK, a group built a whole shipyard, functional longhouse, moat, wooden palisade, and blacksmith, which they use quite a bit and run shows out of now and then. - Even create functional, accurate (as we are allowed to make), longboats and row them occasionally.
(I may be one of these people.)

I don't think I've ever seen anyone in Europe really distinguish between LARP and historical reenactment though. Like there are plenty of open air museums who offer experiences that are essentially just historical LARP or host events that are only vaguely based on history and aren't really coreographed. In the end it's basically just the same thing, it's all a form of role playing just more or less coreographed.
