    Jake, heat fixed: A) Heat pump is sized too small, or B) it's a old crappy type. Newer ones heat good downtown -5 and are cheap to run, at least in Oregon our natural gas is about 30% more expensive than our mini splits. In Oregon it gets hot every year and last year got up to 115 but still growing up most houses didn't start having ac till the last 10 years or so. So kinda opposite problem. Hope you guys stay warm!

    I've lived in Texas most of my 42 years. And it's always been like this. Every year Texan's act surprise that "cold" happens. Like it was a freak act that only happens predictably around the same time EVERY YEAR! There has been unusually lite or intense winters, but it annoys me to no-end that nobody takes the weather (minus farmers and ranchers) seriously. If a dusting of snow, or a inch of rain, its almost a natural disaster where the infrastructure isn't "prepared" for. I grew up in South Bend, IN with that lake-effect blizzards and still walked to school.

    • @bobbirdsong6825
      @bobbirdsong6825 ปีที่แล้ว

      you see it's the legislation of texas that doesn't want to pay for cold-weather infrastructure or join in on the rest of the nation's power grid, fools who keep getting reelected because previous legislations were able to keep poor people from voting. those who die from hypotermia or other preventable infrastructure failings can't vote either so the status quo remains

    Sure, there are exceptions on both sides, but the big bucks in Mobile come from abusing vulnerable people.

    stoked you guys did this ad and elaborated on it here, this mobile game industry is nuts. PLEASE do more with this, would love to see a one day challenge even if it doesn't have major story beats. Would be great to see a game programmed where no matter how good you do, it's impossible to beat like the ads do it. Props to Peter for trusting the crew, I figured he was in on it. Hearing that Matt and Jordan were genuinely concerned during the reveal makes it all that much better!

    The weather in the three states was cool. The animal you were talking about besides bison or Matt was thinking of was lemmings which is also a classic game. These adds are crazy you need a long form video reviewing as many as possible with breakdowns and how this has evolved over time with lots of commentary especially on some of the most prolific adds. there is both a 60 minutes video on the addictive nature of mobile games or apps like daily login and task. Mrwhosetheboss talk about the hook of getting just little money spent in game to get further that just spirals to crazy. hope you see comment on old videos revisit them and those topics.

    Born and raised Texan, and winters definitely feel harsher in recent years. Cold is normal, but seems like there's been more precipitation; And as much sense as everything you're saying makes (because I agree), I imagine most people here would rather spend money on things like pools and outdoor kitchens versus winterizing for the couple weeks a year it'd be necessary 😅

    • @SaltNBattery
      @SaltNBattery ปีที่แล้ว

      He has no clue what he's talking about.. As a native Texan, is what he said true? No one in Texas has furnaces or heaters, so when it gets cold everyone just bundles up in heavy coats and blankets in their houses? I highly doubt it.
      For the last 30+ years every house/apartment I've ever lived in, in Southern California has had a Furnace. I've lived all over Southern California. LA, Valencia, Burbank, Palmdale, Longbeach, Chatsworth, Hermosa Beach, Sunland and Torrance.. I've never met anyone that didn't have heat. The Furnace blower, is what blows the air for your A/C.
      "Barely gets below 45"? I know that's the meme but it's not true.

    • @NobleSlevin
      @NobleSlevin ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@SaltNBattery Plenty of people do have furnaces (myself included), but everything about pipes not being winterized, dripping faucets, bundling up versus trying to heat the house above a certain temp, etc is all completely accurate. That said, further south in Texas you do start to get into areas where plenty of people don't have furnaces and are still experiencing unseasonably cold weather.

    Native Texan by way of El Paso, then moving to Austin. I can say, Almost every damn year we had pipes burst once if not three times a winter, because it got below freezing. On top of that it has snowed in Texas at least once a year as far back as 2008 I want to say? The state and everyone in it is just in deep denial that winters aren't "that bad".

    NY expat living in the south (NC, now VA) and I don’t understand the lack of weather prep either. I lived in western NC, which is all mountains, regularly gets a few snows each year, and they have less than 10 salt trucks for the entire county. It’s standard to drip your pipes and we got single digits during that Christmas nonsense and I didn’t drip the faucet farthest from my water heater…which froze my pipes and I lost the ability to shower for 36 hours. Tangly the heat pump was pretty good at keeping me in the high 60s at least.

    With the winter storm stuff in Texas. It really blows my mind that Texans willingly deal with that and don't do anything about it. Sorry to be "political", but a portion of the state keeps voting for politicians who refuse to update the Texas grid/infrastructure so that it could better withstand/handle the, like Jake said, ice storm that comes every single year at the same time like clock work. It's just like "there are solutions to these problems guys, you don't have to freeze nearly to death every year" lol.

The artist themselves, based on this argument, stole the style of their favorite artist when they were learning.. As a Texan, anecdotally it does seem like its getting more extreme in the winters here recently. My hometown in deep south texas just got snow for the first time in almost two decades when the 2021 freeze hit and again froze this past winter. This is from an area that is usually like 50 degrees on Christmas at its coldest. Might just be recency bias but it does feel a lot worse recently.
