This system of hoof trimming is straight out of the Middle Ages. This so called master needs serious retraining to learn proper and safe ferrier work. Much of what he is doing is actually harming the animals. The level of cruelty towards these poor animals is beyond words.

I disagree. He is very well trained in the form of training he received in trimming and repair and repair of hooves. If it were not for his ability to repair hooves and get these animals walking again they would be slaughtered and sent to factories. He does his best. Gentler, more humane treatment for these animals is a fairly new concept (last 200 yrs or so). We need to teach by example, offer help to other cultures when they ask, and save what animals we can. I think that is what these videos might be saying, 'this is what's happening and I'm doing my best, but I am only one person.'
Kindness does not cost, a gentle calming hand to relax the gelding and sharpened primitive tools would ease the discomfort and anxiety by 70%. I respect your totally realistic comment but there are things that they could do to make it better. Said in good faith and humanity.

Byron Guest it has nothing to do with ability to pay. Even if poor farmers doesn't mean that their animals should be subject to barbaric methods. It is not normal, safe nor healthy to be cutting the hoof to the point of bleeding. It is however damaging and now the internal structures of the hoof are exposed to dangerous pathogens from the soil. Once an infection gets inside the coffin bone that's the end of the horse

The method is supposed to be a distraction method, but since it's so tight, it's no longer for distraction. At that point it's just to hurt and give pain. Some people will do it with a rubber band, some do it with a sticker. A rubber band and sticker are so much better as they don't hurt. But with how these people do it. That method is to hurt the animal. They want to dominate the horse, they want the animal to submit to power. If the animal is not used to having their hooves touched, then they will try to fight. They need to have a good time with farrier or else they will keep fighting, especially if the methods used are to hurt them in some way. They may end up just loosing their spirit. And that's just sad. To prevent the animal with anymore suffering is to either mercy kill it, or take it away from its current owner and give them to someone who actually cares about them. I think it's sad that a lot of these animal in China do not get the proper care they need most of the time.

It's difficult watching these videos of animal abuse! The horse in this video is suffering from malnutrition and gross neglect as evidenced by the hoof issues. The horses and donkeys in these videos are being subjected to abuse thru crude tools and crude repair methods.

The hooves bleed because your cutting to much and too close to the coffin bone. That will cause permanent damage and lameness. Get the proper tools specifically made for horses and watch some videos that show how to trim the right way.
Says the American that only knows what they have seen from other videos. An overgrown hoof can bleed for many reasons. Cutting too close to something doesn't automatically mean that something else will happen. That horses 🐎 hoof will be fine.
It could be a puncture wound in there or a granulation of tissue after an injury but I don’t agree with the method of manner the farrier is treating this poor gelding. I’m not speaking from video education but from owning 5 event horses.

Don't shoot these people: chop their toes off bit by bit while they are tied to a damn tree or hog tied on the ground in cuffs and restraints. Show no mercy as they show none.

Не в одной стране так не относятся к животным. Там лошадь сама даёт ковалю ногу для реставрации копыта. Целует его за это. In all my 64 years I have NEVER seen a farrier cause a hoof to bleed. That beautiful and obviously loved mare needed only a trim... The owner was definitely concerned. I hope she does not develop an infection of the hoof capsule.

Die Besitzer konnten oder wollten das Geld für den Tierarzt nicht ausgeben, der das Pferd mit Schmerzmittel und Narkose ruhig gestellt hätte. Das Pferd hatte hinterher weniger Schmerzen und eine Chance zu überleben. Die Besitzer des Pferdes hätten es nicht so weit kommen lassen dürfen.

Why don’t these people use modern methods of trimming hooves its much quicker and less stress on the animals?
The answer is simple. Money. This is a rural farming area and things are done on a very basic level.

Brusing and stress can cause blood in the hoof tissue. It seems to me he is a long way from the coffin or any live tissue.

А в Китае что осликов что лошадей насилуют таким образом Даводят до того что копыто гниют. Не могут ходить. Таким хозяевам нужно запретить иметь животных,пусть на своём горбу носят то что навьючивают на животных.

@@byronguest7042 They are so "poor" and in such dire economic straits that they own multiple mobile phones, they have mobile phone service, they have internet service and they have multiple video cameras which they use to put up TH-cam videos showing the world how proud and boastful they are of the methods they use to torture animals.
Not buying that "but they are poor farmers!" excuse. Not one bit. For a great deal less money then they have spent to show off PhD level torture skills, they could have a set of decent farrier's tools. Not a great expense especially when compared to the value of an animal one needs to earn a living!

In all my 64 years I have NEVER seen a farrier cause a hoof to bleed. That beautiful and obviously loved mare needed only a trim... The owner was definitely concerned. I hope she does not develop an infection of the hoof capsule.

China is not a primitive third world country, but a Nation of great antiquity. Even the humble peasant knew that their animals were their only wealth. If you can be constantly on you tube why not try to help this guy develop his knowledge and skill by letting him study how other farriers work? He has super sharp tools - some could be used if altered slightly, others abandoned entirely.. A basic understanding of how the hoof is constructed inside would guide him greatly. I'm neither arrogantly critical nor contemptuous - it just hurts my heart to see these animals suffer. I know most are just meat animals, but they will fatten much faster if they are not in pain, and the meat won't be tainted with infections and pain hormones. I also cannot understand why the hooves are allowed to get so bad in the first place, but that's a separate issue.

Have never seen such blatant abuse!!! Maybe that fellow is doing his best but his tx of that first horse was sickening..the poor horse was in extreme pain..was so hog tied it finally just collapsed! I can only imagine how many others are tx this way..it is criminal!!!!

This is not an untrained horse. It is in so much pain i would like to put these men through the same pain with no pain relief.
The relief comes now that the horse is Rescued. Blame the previous owners for the bad treatment and starvation. They are doing their best in an impoverished area.

Für ihn war es die einzige Möglichkeit dem Pferd zu helfen.
Die Besitzer konnten oder wollten das Geld für den Tierarzt nicht ausgeben, der das Pferd mit Schmerzmittel und Narkose ruhig gestellt hätte. Das Pferd hatte hinterher weniger Schmerzen und eine Chance zu überleben.
Die Besitzer des Pferdes hätten es nicht so weit kommen lassen dürfen.

Для того ,чтобы обработать правильно копыто нужны определенные инструменты кусачки, ножи для расчистки, рашпиль. А у них какой то примитивный резак не то нож не то лопатка и ножницы для обрезки веток.
