In the UK you can replace a battery and there are lots of decent quality second hand batteries. I just bought a 10 year old Leaf with 11/12 bars on the battery health. You can buy an add on 11kwh battery or replace the 24kwh battery with a good second hand one. You're talking about £2k either way which is not bad for say 5 more years of motoring considering you never buy any petrol, road tax is free and servicing is super cheap. I do have a second car (hybrid) so the range is no issue, I would drive my Leaf about 25 miles each way if there was no charging en-route. I charge at home at night time on a slow charger (which is just an outside standard uk 3 pin plug, fitted for £250 all in). The electricity is about 70% cheaper at night time (all electric companies are doing many varied or night time tariffs). Super cheap. As a keen MTB cyclists, I can put 2 entire bikes in the back with the seats down! If it very cold I plug the car in to charge for another 10 mins before I drive off (to warm the battery) and I wear a jumper when I drive! The UK is seriously not as cold as Canada. When it's hot, I rarely use AC tbh, do you need it? The best bit is, my car has funky vinyl wrap and people move out of my way when the road is narrow, they think what's that and move their posh car to the side so I can get past :-)
