  • CHIANG RAI, THAILAND - Welcome to Phi Chi Fa in Chiang Rai Province, Northern Thailand. Phu Chi Fah, is possibly the most beautiful destination in the whole of Thailand. It is an amazing place to watch sunset or sunrise and to top it all you get to luxury camp in a dome. Join me as I take the motorcycle ride through the mountains before finding a place to stay and watch sunset over those incredible mountain views. The next day, I wake up early to hike up to the peak of Phu Chi Fah and attempt to watch the sunrise. As ever, things do not go to plan.

    Love your heart to heart speech at sunset, that “things come to try and to test but not to defeat us”. It is so wise that I couldn’t agree more❤. The sunset shot was incredible and despite we can’t see sunrise but that misty morning gives a different aspect of beauty. I don’t think we need perfection to enjoy the journey but yes one day things will go as planned. Great video, Joe.

      “things come to try and to test but not to defeat us” - that should be my tattoo haha or at least on my gravestone. Happy you enjoyed the video and you are right on the perspective. I was grateful for the sunset, so sunrise was no big issue.

    What I can tell you is that. Because we are a country in a warm climate zone, we don't get to see the mist very often. So, the Thai would still be very happy to see the fog without the view and still feel very happy about it, while I think the mist for European people can be considered as a scary bit.
    That is why you see Thai people happily taking photos with no sun rise, that is because the mist is also a special event for them. So, Either sunset or mist they will be happy to be there.

      haha I didn't think of that a all. It usually makes me chuckle a little bit. Like I said in the video, I am optimistic waiting for it to clear. They are enthusiastic despite the weather. Different perspectives.

      I agree that those other peaks are amazing and you left one out, Doi Pha Mon. Phu Chi Dao, Phu Chi Duan and Pha Mon are very steep 3km hikes if you walk up from the main road but most people hire a local driver to take them most of the way up. They are all along the same ridge line and look over into Laos but each has its own charm.

    Hi Joe, I hope you get a little extra "income" as I try not to skip ads, especially the long ones while I am making my brunch on my day off. Lovely place to rest your mind and body. Many had stopped here, but they tend to overlooked and failed to appreciate every little simple things while you noticed and appreciated them.
    Your life is much more richer not in monetary sense, but in memories you are making. One day, you will be sitting on the front porch as a grandpa, sharing these beautiful memories with your grandchildren, and inspire them to go out and making new memories of their own. Until next time, sending you good vibes.😃 Oh, may I suggest you listen to Kelly Clarkson's STRONGER while you are on your bike. You'll like it, I guarantee.

      Thank you Panna, I know ads are a pain in the butt... even when I am showing my videos to someone, I am thinking "damn, these ads, I wouldn't watch my own videos for this" hahaha. Phu Chi Fah is a stunner, and sure there may be other places up there which are just as, or more beautiful. But it is all about time and place, for me, there and then was perfect. Well, at least the sunset haha. You are right about the memory bank which I am building and it is all filmed now, which is even better. Better than the 1000s of photos I took from previous travels, now I don't really take any, just video. I will give Kelly a go on the next ride haha.

    • @hungrytoexplore
      @hungrytoexplore  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it was a 125CC Honda Click, which is automation. Uphill, I really had no issues. Downhill.... well, it obviously keeps going into neutral and you are free riding and on the brakes. You can give the accelerator a little pulse to kick it into gear but it doesn't last long. I have just bought a manual bike and taken it on some very steep hills... Engine braking makes the world of difference to safety. You could go for a semi automatic (no clutch)

    • @hungrytoexplore

      I just turned up and had a look around actually but there were so few tourists then that you could do it and have plenty of options. I would definitely recommend booking in advance now. I enjoyed my stay there, I do recommend it but there are plenty of places who do exactly the same thing. I usually just check most recent reviews on google and see if it’s all good. But the place I stayed had a really nice location on the hill. Definitely go to Phu Chi Fah and wake up early for sunrise,
