    In this video, I break down two game-changing basketball concepts that I introduced to my high school varsity team: the '95 Rule' and the '0.5 Second Decision' rule. Learn how spending 95% of the game off the ball means you must be efficient when you do get it, and how a 'shoot first' mindset can help you make quicker decisions, score more, and play with more confidence. I also dive into the 80/20 rule - aiming to make the right play 80% of the time. If you want to boost your Basketball IQ and elevate your game, this video is for you!

    MJ actually did a lot of this. He didn’t just shoot where he got the ball though. Look back through his games, a lot of the time he would get the ball take one dribble and everyone was so scared of his drives that he would just hit the trampoline and the defender wouldn’t even know what happened lol

      @@cookiedo8022 I mean it depends on the player you want to watch. If I wanted to watch MJ I’d just search Michael Jordan game 7 vs the pacers and it would come up or just look up random games lol

      Bro! I was just about to say this. When ppl watch him, that was a separation. He was so aggressive in his role and he made his decisions so fast as a 2, that it put fear into his opponents as they were trying to process.

    Takeaway, work on your shot, make it a weapon that deserves respect. Use that advantage to force a decision out of your defender. Then take advantage of their decision.

      focus on your habits:
      -weightroom
      -studying film
      -sleeping well
      -eating well
      -practice at game speed
      Also since you are a guard practice IQ and vision alot, (vision as in being able to see open teammates or space in the floor) and your handles and shot

      tell your teammates to where should they go and when they should cut. you dont need lots of vision if you know the manerism and location of your teammates. you could read plays from there

    One thing I struggle with is determining is wether if I have enough space or not. It’s something the shooting machine don’t teach. Tips?

    • @sidestep2minecraft
      @sidestep2minecraft 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Practice with a friend but normally for me if I have space to lift the ball to my set point and the defenders arms are down then it's enough space. If the defenses hands are up not good to shoot unless they are literally giving you a free shot

      Play more. One thing I love doing is 1 on 1 off of a closeout. So you’ll start on the wing and the defense will closeout. You are trying to shoot the catch and shoot 3 but if the defense closes out well you get 1-2 dribbles to a pull up if needed. This teaches you to read space as well as effectively use a shot fake to create a drive.

    It's an interesting concept but I think it depends on how good at shooting a player is. I'm not saying everyone should be elite but at least those players should hit open 3s consistently. And especially in high school basketball or at amateur/low levels of playing not everyone is able to do that

    • @VisionDrivenBasketball
      @VisionDrivenBasketball  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I agree. Which is why with my team, in the offseason shooting is by far what we spend the most time working on. Nothing else matters if you can’t put the ball in the bucket. It’s hard to be a good at basketball if you aren’t good at the most important skill in the game.

    Shoot first? Depends on who it is. Not everyone is a shoot first player. A team full of shoot first players is so frustrating to watch.

      Well, if everybody is a great shooter I'm fine with a "shoot first" mentality... The problem is that not everyone is that good, especially at low levels
