It sounds very expensive for a piece of equipment like this - I assume could have gotten something which serves the same basic function at a much lower cost with a little creativity - especially when it will not be used very often. My local taxes are absolutely through the roof!!!!!

WRAL did a better job with that story. The price tag is a product of the current economy. Taxpayers want the best of everything for nothing . It also has cleaning stations to help firefighters DECON and prevent cancer. Waste of tax dollars to protect those who protect you????? I know cities that waste more than $260 K every quarter on beautification and tourism. Some media outlets need to do a better job on these stories. "We'll keep an eye on how much it is used , it's your tax dollars." Story like that on the city's extra projects and true waste of tax dollars would be great. FDNY and other larger cities have used rehab units for years.Deana ask RFD how many of their firefighters or retired firefighters have died or been diagnosed with job related cancer. Then get the national statistics on the same.

Until you have experience with the fire department its not. Their is a lot of first responder deaths mostly fire firefighters due to incorrect rehabilitation and decon. This will help save lives believe it or not.

Also like it said in the video, it will help RFD be more self sufficient

260k is nothing when it comes to emergency vehicles. An ambulance can cost as much as that if not more, A Fire Engine is around 600-700k, a heavy rescue 800-900k, a ladder over 1 million. To outfit 1 firefighter can around 15k, that’s not including pay, benefits, or training. Public safety costs money
