  • After a few days of rain, a lot of my succulents are starting to rot. It's Winter at the moment and we get frost in Canberra, Australia (Zone 9) and I grow most of my succulents outdoors.

    Hello 😃I came to visit again✨ There are many succulent plants that are popular in Japan. Japanese succulent lovers are afraid of mites and heat disorders😱

    The heat is boiling mine. No matter what, where I put them, or how I water. It was 117F today and has been over 100 for 2 weeks and will be for 2 more weeks. I am so sad. Only a few are possibly going to make it. This has never happened to me before. It's so hot here in USA Yuma AZ. 😢I'm sorry for your beautiful plants, frost is just as devastating.

      There was a time when our temperatures was over 86°F and higher. I stopped watering my potted succulents for a couple of months. No casualty at all. Last couple of years, been experimenting on watering in summer when temps were above 86°F, and some that were not in my 50% UV shade cloth area, got cooked. The one's planted in the ground had no damage at all. Hopefully you get to save some of them.

    I so much look forward to your videos..learned so so much from you over the years. I use to be a successful succulent serial killer up to 6 years ago..😅😅 Then I found you and other lady from Australia. As we have similar weather here in Capetown South Africa..we get almost same time rain and cold..lucky for me..we only go down to 8°C. Use to live in parts of our country were it went down to -9°C..always got terrified when something went wrong with my babies..but learned from you..just pull a leave and let it go..put some under cover..let some of them weather the storm..and voila..now I ran out of space in my current part of my yard they're growing in..and this year I'll be starting to put some in my garden..thank you so much for sharing your experience and torture outcomes 😂😂 stay warm Girl..big kiss for baby Pete..time to see you two sharing a cuppa again..big hug for Hubby..hoping he's coping well.. ❤

    hello, you have very beautiful succulents but those that you showed with fungus are very delicate, they do not like water very much, it is better to have them where it does not rain more than twice a week, regards

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  ปีที่แล้ว

      They have to toughen up while they're in the pots because eventually, they'll all go in the garden. The ones that dies will have to die ASAP 😂 so I don't waste my time growing them. When I get back into fossicking again, they'll have to fend for themselves. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed the video.

    My Echeveria frilly zorro has put out a huge flower spike, shoot, with big leaves, can I propagate these leaves and should I remove the flower spike so it doesn’t weaken the plant?

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's entirely up to you. I find that the frillies doesn't get weekend by the flower stalk. Leaves on the flower spike can be propagated or stem cut off into sections to propagate or let the seeds mature to grow from seeds.

    Growing Succulents with LizK As a new Subscriber and new to growing Succulents living in Sydney, may I ask what is a good readily available mulch to use please.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mulch for soil or top dressing? Ground planted or pot? For small pots or big pots?
      Otherwise, I have a few different soil mix videos that I use. Please see video link below this video in the Description Box.

    Hi Liz, your videos are very helpful, especially for a beginner like me. I have one doubt though. We talk about well draining soil. But how long or how many days will/should the soil remain moist? I’m from a tropical region in India (Kerala). This doubt is bothering me because I lost a sempervivum calcareum today. The soil was well draining but was moist. Please help!

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sempervivum is a cold loving succulent. They go dormant in summer. They should be kept in a bright but shady part of a tropical garden. Watering times will depend on how humid the p[lace they're in. Only water when the soil is dry. Sometimes once a week, in other places once a month and some very humid place, once every 2 months. ☺

      Can handle full sun but best in bright protected area to control watering. Any plant with Laui in it hates the rain.
