I drove one on vacation for about 2 weeks and fell in love! And am now purchasing my own this upcoming weekend and couldn’t be more excited!
Nice! Congratulations!
I have a 2017 LT V6(pretty much identical), and speaking as a single guy, this car is awesome. Very reminiscent of the old days when you didnt need a SUV and you didnt want a tin can mini car but something in the middle that had balls to it, this is the best. I highly recomend getting one!
Amen! Well said. ✌️
Got one about a week ago for 17k with 28k miles on it fairly new man I love the car. So smooth my kids and wife love it also.
I just drove this model (LT V6) I am on a business trip and went to pick up my rental car. This is one of enterprises more “premium” models that cost more to rent and I would have assumed that it isn’t worth it pay over $20 a day more to drive an Impala over a Corolla. But this vehicle changed my mind. They were out of the baseline vehicles that I was supposed to receive so they hooked me up with the upgraded impala w/out making me pay the difference. Aside from the classic impalas from the 60s I have never been much of fan of newer impalas. However this new 2018 LT V6 model is completely redesigned and actually very nice! It has onstar, 4G, and a Wi-Fi hotspot which is very nice for business purposes. And it also a hidden compartments where you hit a button and the touch screen lifts up via motor to reveal a cool hidden compartment that has additional USB connections. The compartment is quite large and could hold valuables like multiple phones, passport, important paperwork, small tablet, or anything else you may be traveling with that you wish to keep secure. It also has Apple Car Play and whatever the android equivalent is (for the pilgrims who refuse to join the future.) JK LOL But the best part is the 305 hp V6 engine. It drives very smooth yet very fast and surprisingly beefy, especially for a large sedan of that size! All and all it was significantly more impressive than I would’ve ever imagined, and for the price point it’s a great vehicle. Definitely do the V 6 though, especially considering it’s only $1000 or so more.
Great thoughts! Thanks for sharing. And I'm glad you're enjoying it, I was also pleasantly surprised at how nice the Impala drives. Unfortunately, 2019 will likely be the last year for the Impala. Chevy is discontinuing it. Although, I'm sure we'll see it renamed and designed soon. Good luck on your trip!
Apple and the Future don't belong in the same sentence.. Apple hasn't innovated anything since Steve Jobs left us. Apple is 2-3 years behind in most of the cell phone tech and features.
Also.. 85+% of the world uses Android.. so maybe you should join us and get a real phone. Lolz JK...
kens97sto171 ; No thanks kens97...Us Apple users value our security and are willing to pay a premium for it. Android is for the sheepdog masses.
I don’t understand why they would discontinue this car
I drove a previous generation Impala Limited LS a few years back, but haven't driven the "new" one. I hope to soon, though! :) I hope Chevy changes their mind and keeps the Impala around for another generation! :)
Fingers crossed!
These are great cars so sad they might be getting rid of them but I see that fleet buyers are the only people who really get these now it's like I feel I am the only guy who personally owns an Impala now
I agree. I mean, I understand why Chevy is slowly phasing out their sedans. Very few people want them. Everyone wants crossovers, SUVs, and minivans. Hopefully someday the publics opinions will change and they'll bring it back. Or....and this is my real hope....Chevy will bring the Impala back as an EV in 2020.
Great review I bought a 2014 impala 2.5 cyl engine and it drives great it has just enough hp for smooth driving and it’s even better in manual mode, and the seating space is amazing
You're right about the seating space. It's crazy large. And I never tried out the manual mode. I gotta be honest, I'm always a bit hesitant to try stuff like that out. I'm not sure why, maybe lack of practice? Who knows, but you've got me thinking about it. So next car I'm definitely going to film my trying stuff like that out. Thanks!
I'm not a Chevy person but the Impala is a nice car. My husband got a brand new one from his job before he passed away in 2013. These newer ones are a lot nicer than the older ones
I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I know it was a while ago, but I hope you're doing okay.
And yeah, it's a great car. I love driving it, but...well I'm not sure I'd actually buy it for myself. I can see why Chevy is thinking of stopping production. I'm much more interested in hatchbacks, SUVs, and minivans. I'm not sure I'll ever buy another large sedan (we just sold our Honda Accord and got a minivan).
100 Rental Cars thank you yes. It's been a rough 4 years but you just have to keep going. My husband was a Volvo person. He had a 1996 Volvo sport something lol ...can't remember what it was...i always tell people it looked like the red volvo in Mrs doubtfire that Sally field drove lol. But he completely rebuilt this thing from the frame up. Looked showroom new when he was done. His sister has it now and it's in a climate controlled garage...yes a climate controlled garage lol. She will not let anyone touch it. I love my Lincoln MKZ. I've had town cars and grand Marquis and crown vics since I started driving. This car is smaller than those but I fell in love with it when I first drove it. I have a 96 Continental in my garage that needs a new transmission. ..I can't give up my big cars completely!!
I could kill for a climate controlled garage right now. It's below 30 here in Chicago and getting into the car this morning was not fun. And you drive an MKZ? I'm so jealous. I freakin' love that car. Good choice!
I have an Impala 2015 and it´s really a great car. I hope they don´t stop the production. If they do, I will buy the latest version and drive it till it breaks.
Ha! I hope so too. But as it stands right now the 2019 will probably be the last one. I'm hopefully that Chevy will give it a nice refresh and re-release it under a new name.
100 Rental Cars a 2020 is coming.
I like my Impala. This is a very nice car that is very comfortable (makes it easy on the body for a covering a lot of miles), reliable, loaded with features, has good technology, easily fits 4-5 people, easily fits a lot of cargo, logically laid out with great ergonomics, has simple and well marked controls, is quite inexpensive to maintain compared to an SUV (one of my main reasons for not getting an SUV is the ongoing cost of repair is low because the replacement parts are inexpensive), and is inexpensive to insure compared to an SUV. The bottom line is that it is quite comfortable, it is reliable, it saves on repairs, replacement parts are inexpensive, and it saves on insurance. I would really like to see this car continued to be produced, as it does a good job filling the full-sized sedan market segment.
I'm thinking about buying this car. Do the LT models have blind spot monitors like the LTZ and Premier?
So used your videos as a guide to see if I liked the impala or not over my ford fusion. Long story short I've been the owner of one for 4hrs now!! Haven't gotten to play around with it too much but so far I'm really enjoying it!! Drives just like my Camaro did!! Only downside is no CD player!
Congratulations! And thanks for letting me know. I'm thrilled my vids were somewhat useful. And you should film one of your own! I'd love to see/hear your thoughts after you've driven the car for a few months. 👍
Funny you mention doing a video, I already did two this morning!!!

th-cam.com/video/81AeZtcMZ2Y/w-d-xo.html
Got any more specifics about what you like better in comparison to the Camaro? I have a 2014 Camaro that I’m looking to replace this month, and this particular vehicle is one of the top in the running for it.
I sure LOVE my 2015 LTZ!!! It's loaded except no "Radar-Cruise/Automatic front braking". Mine's Burgundy with the Black Leather. Also have the BIG 20" wheels (option-code AQ9), which are only available on the LTZ's/Premier's. Not gonna lie....it rides fairly firm with these wide low-profile tires, P245/40-20"!!
What about the comfort of the drivers seat?
Probably the best 4 door sedan Chevrolet ever made, they are being phased out because of the SUV market. There is no more demand for the sedans unfortunately. It drives smooth and has plenty of power (305hp) for a sedan that size. The only competition it really has is the Taurus and Charger which are similar sized cars. I do not regret trading in my 4cylinder 2015 Malibu for the new 2018 Impala LT (i wish i could get the premier) but was just out of my budget. But all and all with the v6 (same as the camaro LT has) more than amazing this car. Ans smooth driving, it has Mercedes qualities to it suspension wise.
Also, if you can get by with a sedan instead of a similarly sized crossover, you can save a ton of money. Probably $10,000 - $15,000.
HALWG51 Not really.
Hmmm intersting idea. I did a quick Google search and, you're right, you could get a base model Ford Edge for about $2,000 less. And the Nissan Rogue is about 10k less. If I was forced to choose between those three - the Impala, Edge, and Rogue - I think I'd probably go: (1) Impala, (2) low end Edge, and (3) Rogue. How about you?
If I had to choose, just based on features and cost, the Impala would win hands down. The Rogue would be a very distant 3rd. At 6'2", I'm really cramped inside a Rogue, and it's a very narrow car.
I'm talking similarly sized, like a Murano, Edge, MKX, or XT5. Not one of those wienie cars like the Rogue, Escape, Tuscon, etc.
Hahaha, weenie cars. I hate to say it, but that's a perfect description for the Rogue. And there's no contest in my opinion between this (the Impala) and the MKZ or the Cadillac. Those are MUCH better vehicles. I love the MKZ so much...not sure I've ever driven the MKX.
I love the latest Impala. I wish I would have had a better experience with my 2011 Impala if I had I would consider a new Impala. Not the same car at all but that car left a sour opinion of GM.
+Austin Peters I think I'd feel the same way. Once you've had a bad experience, it's just not worth buying your next car from the same manufacturer. I bought a Saturn years ago and had problems with it. And because of that, I'll never go back to any of Saturn's parent company. There's just too many other (better) options.
They are pushing the Malibu but the Impala is a good car it's to bad that Chevy has to underestimate this car
Yeah, the Malibu and the Impala are pretty similar. Maybe too similar. I just hope Chevy brings back the Impala with a refreshed look in a few years. We shall see...
I know the Malibu the new 2016 one really looks like the impala the back and the size of it Chevy should not underestimate the impala I still the impala is a little step up from the Malibu
Leasing this car is like getting blood taken unwillingly. Expensive as hell.
I have this exact car in pepperdust and love it!
That's funny so do I !!
Pepperdust? I'm guessing that's a gray color? Personally, I love the fancy color names car's get. My last rental was in "red velvet pearl".
@@100RentalCars No it's actually a tan or bronze color with black flakes that catch the sun. It's an optional color.
It's a shame Chevrolet it quiting on a a iconic car like the impala 😭real sad day the should have made a all wheel version or ss model Beautiful car just sad
@@100RentalCars I have it too. It was discontinued after 2019. What's cool about the color, grey in some lighting, tan in full sun, lots of metal flake.
I notice some has a cd player, in the 2018, and some don't.....🤔
Can't fault Chevy for considering chopping it. No one really buys sedans like this anymore, same goes for Taurus. Rental fleets are the only ones keeping these cars around.Side note-Chevy makes some UGLY steering wheels!
Yeah, sedans are kinda a thing of the past. Everyone I know either owns a smaller car, like a hatchback, an SUV, or a minivan. I'd love to see maybe a fully electric option?
Cause the Tesla Model S is about this size and THAT sells well (for triple the price). And I agree about the steering wheel. KIA has my recent favorite steering wheel (it's much thinner).
Great time
Did this impala have volume buttons behind the steering wheel?
You know, I don't know. It definitely had actual buttons behind the steering wheel, but I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I didn't try them out. Sorry 'bout that.
100 Rental Cars no worries! Next time try them out! I think they correlate to volume and track on the radio.
Will do!
bigb252 my 2017 has volume buttons in the back, also buttons to change the song.
So I got another Impala today and I checked. Yes, it does have those buttons! I went ahead and filmed it. I'll post a very short vid in a day or two so you can take a look. Cheers!
should have added how quiet this automobile is over most road surfaces. coarse pavement roar not as well suppressed, however. also should have commented about the ride quality over broken pavement.
I definitely would not want to see this go...great car
Agreed! I mean, it's not really my taste, so I doubt I'd buy it for myself, but it's a solid automobile. I always get a little excited when I rent one of these.
Can u do the c300 coupe next
2:36 I want to like this Impala, but the poor rear visibility is a deal breaker. It is very disconcerting to drive a car, without confidently knowing where it ends, and what might or might not be behind you when reversing or making a lane change.
I bet you get used to it after a while. That being said, I agree with you. There's plenty of other sedans like this on the market and they all have much better visibility. Maybe that's one of the reasons Chevy is discontinuing the Impala?
Anyway, I drove the Ford Fusion Titanium Hybrid a while back. I think I'd take that over this. Here's a link if you're interested. It's one of my earlier reviews so....ummmm, well sorry about the music. th-cam.com/video/i6pP3yVXLNo/w-d-xo.html
Honestly i have this car. Literally i got use to it after like 2 weeks. I don't even notice it anymore. I dont have any issues seeing behind me. It's really not a big deal.
You never need your rear window for lane changing or backing up even use mirror.., it has barely any blind spots (so to be clear you have no idea what you're talking about) also reversing? It has a camera, if you cannot reverse a car with that?! Consider yourself one of those "drivers" people hate seeing driving ...
Not the best fit and finish. All cars should have the blind spot mirror insert. That's why I like Ford. I agree, ugly steering wheel. I like that they have kept the traditional shift lever. Push/pull buttons and knobs for the transmission just don't do it for me. Terrible glove box.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the side mirrors should have the insert. How much extra can it possibly cost? And you're now the THIRD person to point out how ugly the steering wheel is! I can't believe I didn't even notice. Talk about tunnel vision.
It's very economical on the highways, but you are way off for the fuel range. You will definitely not get 550 - 600 miles on a tank even if you only drove on the highways. The max you could ever get on a tank would probably be about 515. The average being more realistically around 415 - 430 (combined city/highway).
Hmmm, sorry about that mistake. To be honest, sometimes I say stuff in the middle of a review and afterwards I think, "where the h#$$ did that come from?" Anyway, thanks for pointing out my mistake. I am trying hard not to give out bad info on these cars. I'll do better next time. Cheers!
It's all good! There is a lot of information out there. The information wasn't intentionally bad; that's what's important. Cheers
My 2.5 LT will easily go 600 miles on a tank of gas with some leftover. I have done it 4 times going on an 8 hour trip to Ohio!
That's the ugliest steering wheel I've seen in a passenger car..yuck!😝😝
Ha! You're the second person to mention that. I gotta be honest, I didn't even notice it when I was driving the Impala, but now that you mention it....yeah, it's kinda a piece of crap. What gives Chevy?
100 Rental Cars lmaooo 🤣🤣🤣 that might be the reason Chevy is getting rid of it... Chevy's my family owned we're all GARBAGE
I've never owned a Chevy. And I've only driven brand new ones. But if you say they're garbage, well I'll take your word for it. I know in the past Chevy hasn't had the best reliability on their cars and SUVs. I hope that changing, but I'm not sure I would risk it by buying one yet.
Funny i got 4 chevies ranging from 1982 up to 2018 never gave me issues, perhaps your family is "special" or just bought second hand leftovers from Graigslist, kindah easy that way to hate a brand ..
