Black smoke on the start up is normal for my 424. I love my yanmar. It can do a lot of things around the house. No doubt it is that best bang for the bucks. Congrats on your new toy, and you will love it too

I've got a 424, smoke on cold start is normal. I bought a silicone turbo piping coupler (45* elbow, 1.5" inside diameter) to extend and deflect the exhaust out over the front tire to keep soot from staining the hood.

Seems to smoke a lot sometimes but I guess I’ll get used to it. Good idea on the pipe

Smoke on start up is normal for a non- emission tractor. You can hold your glow plugs on longer to eliminate most of it if you want to.

Yeah the smoke is normal. I’ve got the SA 425 as well…without the rear remotes but don’t really need them for what I do.

Normal. It's a diesel with a cold motor.

Mentioned in your owners manual, its completely normal . Do yourself a huge favor and get a hydraulic top link.

I take it that you’ve gotten your hydraulic couplers matched up? Did you stay with the ag style couplers? I switched mine over to flat face couplers. They don’t make a mess when disconnecting them.
