ReprogrammedToHate Deftones album is done at least and Meshuggah is hard at work on their next one! Actually heard the leak from the new Deftones album and it sounded like continuation to Diamond Eyes/Koi No Yokan era Deftones.
When this song came out and I first heard it in the warehouse at my work, I literally stopped what I was doing because I had chills and was completely mesmerized by the overdrive on that guitar. That sound... holy shit, that sound. I imagine I felt the same way that many did back in 1969, as they eagerly watched their televisions while Armstrong took the first step on the moon. I was like, "They did it! Someone finally found the perfect sound!" lol
The first time I heard this song I was in my car. When it got to the break - when the drums drop and that "thick like concrete balls" guitar tone is highlighted - time seemed to slow to a terminal moment... and as the break ended, and that brief respite built back into the main theme... if I had a "end existence/history eraser" button next to me I wouldve pressed it immediately and without hesitation when everything resolved back to the chorus - just so that moment, that musical statement would be the echo that rang through the void for eternity... That's how much I like this song.

I really like this sort of slow-mo atmosphere they were able to come up with by using extra low tuning guitars, stressing only the first beat and letting everything ring in between. It`s like things are floating or wrinkling in thin air. It combines in a special way with this highly emotional singing. Simple stuff. And a pretty powerful effect.

Not that the self titled album was bad or snw but this song and this album was what brought deftones back it may be a song to some but to some it was more of a rebirth a renewal if you may.
90's has more diversity! nirvana, PJ, FAith no more, Radiohead, Tool, Deftones, Soundgarden, Sublime,pantera, Rancid, STP, and alot of others I am forgetting. I am not a huge rap lover but even those fools had some talent. nas, biggie, pac, jay-z, WU TANG, Mobb Deep, and others...
