Absolutely fantastic tutorial, I rarely mod games as I often run into conflicts etc that I find troublesome to fix. This is due to my lack of experience and difficulties finding proper information that isn't solely catered towards people who already understand how to mod. This step by step was not only easy to understand but also explained some of the basic things noobs like me simply don't know, like being able to delete certain files after installers have been downloaded for instance. Thank you for putting this together I am going to give Fallout 4 another try now lol.

Thank you. I was having real problems understanding why some Mods would throw up errors or show the RED warning text in Manual section. I do personally prefer the Manual Install feature though obviously that will be avoided with FOMOD Installers, which then just means a few right choices of what I want as it goes through each specified section. Understanding the FO4 Load Order, in comparison to my previous experience with Skyrim SE, was a bit problematic in the beginning. But I did watch one of your recent videos detailing that. So thanks for that one too. Very Helpful Channel.

@@SoftServedKiki ah just for skyrim. Or at least I think. I updated my skyrim on steam, and the latest update integrated itself with windows or something. So SKSE is struggling to update with the latest version of Skyrim (anniversary edition btw). However, I don't know how, at all, but apparently there's a way to downgrade your skyrim an update or two. Up im just about too lazy to try and figure it out. MO2 does work for any other games

    • @Whiterun__Guard
      @Whiterun__Guard ปีที่แล้ว

Skyrim is functional on the current steam version, and SKSE is working, it's what I'm running (and modding) right now. The only difference between the Anniversary Upgrade and the Special Edition (with the current up to date version as if you downloaded them from Steam right now) is the extra CC content, which act like mods and so can conflict with other mods (A lot of mods have patches at this point though). Just make sure any mods that run scripts or require SKSE say they work with version 1.6x

You can still change the pathing for the base directory after you've installed mods actually. All you need to do is create a profile of the your load order and when you move all your mods to a new hard drive, make sure to move the profiles too so that you retain your original load order. And don't forget your overwrite files incase you have anything in there.

This is a pretty nice video for new MO2 users . The only correction I'd mention is the load on on the ight actually does have some effect to your game and you can actually see this in your video bases on the conflict lightning bolts with +/- symbols
What ever is lowest in the right will overwrite any conflicting files above it.
    An example
Mod 1 makes Nuka cola blue
Mod 2 makes Nuka cola red
Mod 2 is lower than mod 3 so Nuka cola will be red.
    Besides that pretty good.

To save some trouble for others; !!! MO2 also does a virtual instance of the FO4 ini files !!!
So if you're wondering why your non-esp mods aren't working, its because you need to alter the ini files in "yourdrive":\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Local\ModOrganizer\Fallout 4\profiles\Default
IGN has a good youtube tutorial on how to alter them accordingly, I basically altered both the main FO4 ini files and the virtual ones MO2 made, now every mod I installed with MO2 works!

I've only ever used Vortex (and NMM before that). I guess I've gotten comfortable with it. LOOT built in. But I've noticed I have to compromise what mods I want to use, Vortex never seems to get load order right and it's a pain to manually reorder your plug-ins. Vortex has a "I know best, trust me" problem it seems. Thank you very much for this 🙏 I think I'll be moving to MO2 for my next playthrough. Oh, and use SSD people!

I believe with Mod Organizer 2, the left-side list of mods is where you can sort it to choose conflict winners as well. If two mods accidentally edit the same texture, for example, place the one lower that you want to have its texture used in place of the one higher up. This is useful if you want 2 sets of texture mods, where one retextures stone and dirt, and the other just stone. You want mod 1's dirt but mod 2's stone. So you let mod 2 win the conflict/overwrite mod 1, and you will have mod 1's dirt and mod 2's stone.
Simple hypothetical used as an example.

Great vid, very helpful. If you havent already, I would like to see a LOOT video. Also...if you have FO4VR, I would really look forward to a video focused on that. Still need to get mods working for VR...most especially CHEAT TERMINAL. A tutorial for installing THAT would be GOLD.

Appreciate the video for MO2 as I was considering switching to it when I reinstall FO4 next. Vortex has always been fine for me but the load order organizer is just frustrating and tedious, even when you properly know how to use it.
One note though, LOOT is pretty much useless with FO4. It won't even detect basic level conflicts in many cases, you can see this as soon as you open FO4Edit and apply filter by conflicts. I'm assuming you check everything with FO4Edit since you know your stuff but you didn't mention that in that last section which might give people the impression that LOOT is the only tool needed for conflict resolution.

LOOT definitely isn't the only solution lol, but assuming that most people looking up a tutorial are pretty new to modding it can be a useful tool in their arsenal. If it's their first time modding on pc I wouldn't want to send them straight into FO4edit. I may look into more advanced tutorials in the future though, thanks!

BethINI would have been a perfect addition to this tutorial as it is another essential tool for the ease of ini tweaks without having to actually open the .ini. Regardless of adding it or not this is a great video.

    • @DegenerateDak

haven't used that one, that being said I should've mentioned that mo2 has its own ini editor that stores it as a separate copy as a backup
