When you hear someone remarking - ‘That someone has more talent in their baby finger than you have in your entire body - They need to pull forth a clip of this man as reference!! I was mesmerized watching how talented his hands are and his craftsmanship is. To be that skilled, he obviously came out of the womb and immediately sat down at his work table and started practicing his craft, in his diaper and onesie, lol - amazing, completely amazing to watch!
When you have passion on whatever you are doing, it transforms into a talent with or without those tools.. actually a man is more talented if he doesn't have enough resources for the right tools and yet could improvise alternative for it, and still able to make a best result of his craft or work.
Actually... My mom used to buy me similar slippers as a kid. Looks almost like this, but at the heel part, there's like an arc wherein your heel can fit and not slide to the sides... As a child I remember being so happy and wearing it all the time even though it'll give me cramps sometimes.

i am in shoemaking process for german company. Nice Idea, BUT the angle of foot and heel of the insole looks very unconfortable. The angle of a shoe shuld be as if you walk on your tipie-toes and not flat at the and, as you did! but you seem to be very creative!

You need more than DIY skills. You need all the tools and materials too and once you spent your money and time on upcycling this pair of cheap flip-flops, you'd have been better off buying a ready-made shoes.
Also, in his culture, it's kind of more a survival/business/living. Is he brilliant? Indeed, and also in a business oriented culture. It's not the kind of quirky kind of creativity common in indie, punk, alternative, and goth circles, where it's a "passion" (really , a passion is an invested hobby at least in the US). It's the kind of creativity, where one is doing what they can to live.

There's a reason why they don't officially make high heel flip flops. The angle of the heel forces the foot forward into where your toes go & the strap in between the toes will constantly rub, maybe even cut the skin in between the toes.

The craftsmanship was good, and the finished product was very pretty, but the design would be very uncomfortable. There is a sudden elevation of the heel with no arch support or graduation leading up to it. And the weight would all fall forward into the thong portion between the toes.

They are made of cardboard with thin coating of leather [if lucky], if not it is plastic, or vinyl over cardboard, and plenty of superglue and weights to hold together, it is just that factories does it faster and automated, but the actions are not much better, and bought shoes don't last that much longer, and you pay a heck of a lot more.
this is not different than high heels, and some people slide forward towards the thong so cant wear them at all. I think the point was that you could change not that they have to be thongs.

As an entertainment, very good. As a sensible suggestion for anyone to try at home... absolutely not, unless you want, at best, bad posture and injury to your back, and or feet. Or worse, sprains and broken bones. Shoes are designed by experts who understand foot, leg and body dynamics and altering them when they were designed to be flatties is not that sensible. And where was the model trying them out at the end of the video?
Right? I’m a shoe designer, after having worked in the footwear industry for over 30 years and no way are these flip flops gonna feel good but I really enjoyed watching the process!
What are u on about these wedge flip flops can absolutely be worn I have a black pair that are from a high street well known retail store, most designer red bottom heels are more likely bad for a lot of women's feet and a foot wear specialist will tell u that hence why ppl go on to develop foot problems over time, but guess what they sell in stores any way its not illegal I've studied footwear, this is how you build up a wedge heel the only difference is the flip flops will act as a sole board and you can add Cork (thats one way of doing it) to build up the the wedge heel underneath the sole like he did with the flip flops, maybe there was no model on hand to show us how it fits these wedge flip flops were quite popular in the early 2000s sold and bought in many retail stores it maybe not good for the feet but what this man has created many western shops sell.

Incredibly talented guy no doubt about it. My wife and daughter absolutely refused to wear anything but high heels even to the beach they would never wear flip-flops. My daughter somehow found a pair of flip-flops with a 4 inch heel and my wife won’t even wear those strictly a high heel sandal, but it’s not the end of the world they look good

@@pricer39 You're right, I missed the consumables. He used two different types of glue. @03:05 he used "CA" glue / cyanoacrylate glue AKA *Super* *Glue* to affix the straps. The next / thicker yellowish one in the clear water bottle is more than likely *Contact* *Cement* AKA "contact adhesive". I say this because the procedure for adhering two surfaces together with this adhesive requires a bit of a dwell time for the adhesive to become tacky before pressing them together for a permanent bond - you can see him preventing contact with the foam wedge he placed in there @03:38. And you can see the jump cut while he waited for the sole of the shoe to dwell before adhering it. Additionally, the EVA foam that these flip flops are (probably) made of is typically fused using contact cement.

I'm not sure I would call those "high heels", maybe wedges is more appropriate. If you want to do something really impressive, turn flip flops into a pair of actual high heels or stilettos like the title of the video hints at.

You need more than DIY skills. You need all the tools and materials too and once you spent your money and time on upcycling this pair of cheap flip-flops, you'd have been better off buying a ready-made shoes.
Also, in his culture, it's kind of more a survival/business/living. Is he brilliant? Indeed, and also in a business oriented culture. It's not the kind of quirky kind of creativity common in indie, punk, alternative, and goth circles, where it's a "passion" (really , a passion is an invested hobby at least in the US). It's the kind of creativity, where one is doing what they can to live.

There's a reason why they don't officially make high heel flip flops.
The angle of the heel forces the foot forward into where your toes go & the strap in between the toes will constantly rub, maybe even cut the skin in between the toes.

The craftsmanship was good, and the finished product was very pretty, but the design would be very uncomfortable. There is a sudden elevation of the heel with no arch support or graduation leading up to it. And the weight would all fall forward into the thong portion between the toes.

They are made of cardboard with thin coating of leather [if lucky], if not it is plastic, or vinyl over cardboard, and plenty of superglue and weights to hold together, it is just that factories does it faster and automated, but the actions are not much better, and bought shoes don't last that much longer, and you pay a heck of a lot more.
this is not different than high heels, and some people slide forward towards the thong so cant wear them at all. I think the point was that you could change not that they have to be thongs.

As an entertainment, very good. As a sensible suggestion for anyone to try at home... absolutely not, unless you want, at best, bad posture and injury to your back, and or feet. Or worse, sprains and broken bones. Shoes are designed by experts who understand foot, leg and body dynamics and altering them when they were designed to be flatties is not that sensible. And where was the model trying them out at the end of the video?
Right? I’m a shoe designer, after having worked in the footwear industry for over 30 years and no way are these flip flops gonna feel good but I really enjoyed watching the process!
Shoes are designed for looks. Most shoes are bad for your feet, especially high heels.

What are u on about these wedge flip flops can absolutely be worn I have a black pair that are from a high street well known retail store, most designer red bottom heels are more likely bad for a lot of women's feet and a foot wear specialist will tell u that hence why ppl go on to develop foot problems over time, but guess what they sell in stores any way its not illegal I've studied footwear, this is how you build up a wedge heel the only difference is the flip flops will act as a sole board and you can add Cork (thats one way of doing it) to build up the the wedge heel underneath the sole like he did with the flip flops, maybe there was no model on hand to show us how it fits these wedge flip flops were quite popular in the early 2000s sold and bought in many retail stores it maybe not good for the feet but what this man has created many western shops sell.

He used a knife, a razor, a hammer, and a rotary sander... which dont you have? The sander? Use a rasp, or just sand it by hand.

@03:05 he used "CA" glue / cyanoacrylate glue AKA *Super* *Glue* to affix the straps.
The next / thicker yellowish one in the clear water bottle is more than likely *Contact* *Cement* AKA "contact adhesive". I say this because the procedure for adhering two surfaces together with this adhesive requires a bit of a dwell time for the adhesive to become tacky before pressing them together for a permanent bond - you can see him preventing contact with the foam wedge he placed in there @03:38. And you can see the jump cut while he waited for the sole of the shoe to dwell before adhering it. Additionally, the EVA foam that these flip flops are (probably) made of is typically fused using contact cement.

I'm not sure I would call those "high heels", maybe wedges is more appropriate. If you want to do something really impressive, turn flip flops into a pair of actual high heels or stilettos like the title of the video hints at.
This isn't a wedge either, it's a platform. I found it super impressive regardless of the correct term. What an incredible talent!
