I´m from Germany and I wish we had something traditional we could use like the Haka in Sports like the All Blacks do. I think going on the field and sacrificing an Animal or Human to the old gods, drinking its blood and pushing ourselfs into berzerker rage with wierd plants from our deep dark forests is a little too much XD
You could goose march into neighboring countrys, tho I believe that will be abit insensative. No but Germany has alot of culture; from the germanic tribes to the teutonic order. Just because you don't have the haka does not mean you don't have culture. Germany has a dark past and is trying to put it behind her, thats probabt why her culture isn't practiced in day to day life.
Tyson Tuki the stuff OG is talking about is ancient germanic culture. Look up the lost legion and you'll see what he's talking about. The actual lost legion, not the terrible movie.
OGDrecksau Always hard to tell with text. I think it's kinda funny that Germany has one of the most active ancient Roman military reenactment communities in the world. Given what we know about their history with the Romans. It's also telling that Julius Caesar's legions built a bridge across the river rine into Germany, then after crossing, went right back to Gaul and destroyed the bridge.
twofortybravo Indeed it is funny but much more its interessting. I respect the Roman Legions, because their equipment was a effective mass-product and their discipline was superior to almost everything. But even the biggest Empire on the world has to deal with a loss of 1/8 of its force within 3 days by completly underestimated "Barbarians". In Germanys military today it is illegal to say that an Enemy is bad equiped or bad trained. Lesson learned!

And the whole time, you get closer and closer to the people in your platoon until you basically become one big family. To anyone thinking about giving it a go... *DO IT!* When it gets tough, suck it up! as my OC said on day 2 of the course, "I have not come this far to *only* come this far." Also, I'd like to add that the theme, the message, of the LSV Haka is about trainees telling their families about the skills and knowledge they gained on the course, and it's about stepping up and becoming a leader.

We do but our movements are more feminine. We don't slap our chest hard we tap it lightly same as with our feet, our movements used to be graceful these days there's more Kaha in our women's action more power
Im from Puerto Rico and this is great. I love how native traditions are being perpetuated by non maori people and how maori has prevail over hundreds of years. Greetings from Puerto Rico.
@Morris Anderson You are almost correct, The Maori Expeditionary Force was established about 1914, 3 of my ancestors enlisted they never came home, but the English said that Maori cannot fight against a European race that would be 'rather insensative'. So in 1915 my ancestors were transferred from Egypt to support the New Zealand Division at Gallipoli in Turkey. Their main role was to build trenches supply armaments to the troops and transport food and infrastructure. The English ordered the New Zealand Division to take Chunuk Bair, but without adequate support from the English this task was impossible. The Maori Expeditionary Force realised the Kiwi division were in trouble and by nightfall it was obvious the Kiwi's were losing the battle. Maori knew they were going to fight the Turkish at Chunuk Bair because the Aussies and the English were too busy fighting to capture Lone Pine. Just after midnight and just before the Maori were to attack, the Maori Expeditionary force that consisted of about 3,000 Maori warriors performed a massive haka that resonated and echoed across the hills and the valleys of Gallipoli Peninsula. It was a Haka they say that woke the dead from their sleep in fright. The Turkish authorities record this haka as follows , 'we heard this mind curdling scream it echoed through the hills it got louder and louder until one of our officers yelled out " the cannibals are coming". The attack on Chunuk Bair by Maori was relentless and uncompromising that is all I will say about this attack. The Kiwi's and Maori succeeded in taking Chunuk Bair together while the Allies failed to achieve their goals including the Aussies. In WWII the Famous Maori Battalion was formed in recognition of the success of their ancestors in the Expeditionary Force in WWI. Again Europeans on both sides did not want Maori to fight White people even though more than 70% of the Maori Battalion were part eurpoean and part Maori many were as white as Europeans and you could not tell that they were Maori until they spoke in their native toungue. The Maori Battalion performed a haka at Monte Casino to torment the Germans. Early in the morning the Maori Battalion performed another haka it was led by their injured comrades who moved forward first distracting the Germans, just before the fighting started this group split apart allowing the mainforce to come through screaming out in haka they performed a bayonet charge and the Germans quickly succummed to this attack.

I was in New Zealand in 1969 on the way home from Viet Nam.. I fell in love with the country. May God bless New Zealand and the Maori and may the Haka spread all over the world.
To me, it is an indication that the entire tribe (or, unit, for a lot of purposes fairly similar) are standing together as one, and that the haka is a representation of their communal will and dedication.
Very interesting that. Never seen that before. Haka called out with a female lead Kaea. Gr8t composition also. That's the thing though. Tikanga is evolving all the time.
Haka is a posture chant from polynesia specific to Maori, other Polynesian cultures also have posture chants, by different names. In Hawaii they are traditionally known as Ha'a. As they are just going through a renaissance and have rediscovered them, they are still calling them haka and have until recently bean performing Maori haka in maori but have now started using Hawaiian and performing there own.Haka can be performed by anyone with training but certain actions are for males only.
I'm using google translator. I apologize in advance for grammatical errors. I'm from Polish. I am in awe of the dance of war "HAKA" which is part of your tradition. To a foreigners ears it may be messed up but to people who live and own Haka it is not, She is a soldier, she is a warrior, she has earned the right to haka and given the honor of leading it. If you do not like the sound of her voice thats ok do not watch. But I am saying culturally she has every right to Haka and lead in this situation.

I'm from Sunshine Coast and an Ex Pat...Sends chills down my spine to see this Haka performed so well....awesome and Tommy from Brisbane...well said.....Love my kiwi heritage...
I saw an elderly lawn bowling team do this a few years ago. Simply awesome.
If you're gonna lead girl, Haka it! don't chant other than that Awesome!!!!
You obviously are not Maori. She knows what she is doing 😉.
Its best not to comment when you dont know what you are commenting on eh shaarnii!
P.S. SB best you read up on Maori culture and the significance a wahine has in leading the haka - do not presume - this wahine has done an amazing job in leading this haka
I reckon she was fukin mean
Это устрашающий танец Австралийских воинов? Ебать я обосрасля от страха!
New Zealand
It's actually Maori, the natives from New Zealand.
Денис Герман вы русский?
кнут Андерсен Да
ну сразу же видно безстрашный русский самый сильный и самый смелый+
I thought women didn't do the haka though?
They do but their actions are a little different.
they do generally but traditionally they are in the back, usually with the defense force and organizations like Cadet forces it does not matter where they stand.
Amazing! That is soooo badass! Maoris and N'zealanders--you rock! You are very inspiring and your dance and chanting proves your strength and bravery!
they would have scared the germans during world war two
Until an MG42.
Machine guns didn't stop them
maybe thats why germany lost
Machine guns just made them angry.
Early in the morning the Maori Battalion performed another haka it was led by their injured comrades who moved forward first distracting the Germans, just before the fighting started this group split apart allowing the mainforce to come through screaming out in haka they performed a bayonet charge and the Germans quickly succummed to this attack.
lol dude shat a hat
Ugh the woman/en's voice/es sound terrible with the men's.
Why?
I first saw this four years ago and I still think it's one of the best haka on the net
Just beautiful. Warriors . Old tradition
Testosteroneous as fuck!!
Sorry but, no. That female leading voice ruined it.
Hard it should be a guy that should lead
+Joewes MMORPG God is a woman
No
+Joewes MMORPG I think it actually gave the spice to it...
+Joewes MMORPG I agree, it's lacking the fire and anger to it. It's fierce, but not fierce enough over the earth-destructing rumble of the men's voice beneath her.
What the fuck women doing there!?
its not men only, YOU'VE only seen men only perform haka. Women definitely have a role in haka. Look and learn
Our women were just as powerful as our men, they awoke the gods beside us, they fought our enemies beside us.
This is a warrior haka and this is army training hence women have every right to stand and or lead this haka.
hakaboy6924 this is LSV they don't do military tactics training or weapons shooting, they are youth that don't have work or got in trouble and need discipline. not army.
cinamin45 training + NZDF = military training. Basic military training is always 80% discipline/teamwork.
Absolutely brilliant!greetings from Portugal.
I'm Maori by blood, and I love the fact that the Haka is being recognized and utilised world wide. Ka Mau te Wehi.
Such a beautiful expression of culture! I am loving New Zealand more and more! From the Philippines with lots of love and appreciation.
That's the austronesian way right there friends, spread the love peace and Appreciation.
From a fellow austronesian from nz. Wishing you all the best fortune ,love and peace.
Cheers ,Merry xmas
It never gets old, love it! Especially by our guys in uniform - good work guys
My army days. Not so fun. You all are AMAZING!!!!
I'm a Canadian. We have rugby here but it isn't a religion like it is for New Zealand. It is on my bucket list to see a genuine haka.
This shit was f#%king bad ass! I love this shit! Real sick with it. It never gets old for me to watch. Thx for sharing. Best I've seen so far.
I was in New Zealand in 1969 on the way home from Viet Nam.. I fell in love with the country. May God bless New Zealand and the Maori and may the Haka spread all over the world.
I am of Swedish descent, but I greatly admire the Haka. It's an excellent esprit de corps and morale builder. I want YOU guys on my side! :)
I love the way the men came in around the women like they were protecting them. Beautiful.
good ol' kapa haka. gets the juices going every time!
To me, it is an indication that the entire tribe (or, unit, for a lot of purposes fairly similar) are standing together as one, and that the haka is a representation of their communal will and dedication.
This is beautiful and I'm so proud to be living in New Zealand and so proud of my Maori and Pacific island whanau. :) Mauri Ora xx
just amazing! @Emma Wink is completely right, in some kinds of haka, women get behind men supporting with their voice and showing their stand
This was a while back...dang!....miss it...still love it though
Very interesting that. Never seen that before. Haka called out with a female lead Kaea. Gr8t composition also. That's the thing though. Tikanga is evolving all the time.
Awesome haka I always come here if I forgot some of the moves from LSv and the words, great place to practice.
Haka is a posture chant from polynesia specific to Maori, other Polynesian cultures also have posture chants, by different names. In Hawaii they are traditionally known as Ha'a. As they are just going through a renaissance and have rediscovered them, they are still calling them haka and have until recently bean performing Maori haka in maori but have now started using Hawaiian and performing there own.Haka can be performed by anyone with training but certain actions are for males only.
thank you for your service.
This was us back in 2009 !! I’m in there at the back somewhere lol LSV by far the best decision I made ! Life lessons was well worth it
I'm using google translator. I apologize in advance for grammatical errors. I'm from Polish. I am in awe of the dance of war "HAKA" which is part of your tradition. Honors your courage and memory of tradition. I have to admit that the video you have posted a comment caused in me chills. I wonder how it really looks like, close up. Yours sincerely. I wanted to send a private message but I was not able to. So pasting a message here.
Thank you for your comments and respect to you and your father. to be precise it is a posture chant not a war dance.
done that spine chilling watching it again also pride having done it
You sir, deserve more likes.
Seriously, really cool! Love from Sweden!
wonderful! raw and powerful! thank you
This Haka is beautiful.
Actually, her voice is perfect for this particular haka.
let us here your true voice - ! - and there it is on display - the true voice of these young people.
Gave me goosebumps. Awesome!
Thank you for the translation !!
