- After putting Yamaha's 2019 WR450F through its paces for the past three weeks. He's Geoff Ballard's detailed feedback about the bike so far... Just remember he's not your usual test rider who loves his toys blinged up and pretty, he'll ride the thing standard until the wheels fall off. Then he might think about rotating the tyres because "there's still half a tyre left".
His testimony alone has made my mind up !
GB is a legend in Australia and has been a role model that I have looked up to since I was a small child.
My 30th anniversary Ballards catalogue is in the mail and hopefully I can get it signed and framed !

I like this kind of honest reviews and not the ones that praise the bike like it was sent from good and everything is just perfect.
This made my mind up I was deciding between the wr450 and ktm500 going blue. Picked up my new 2019 wr450f today let the fun begin:)

@@jeremynoble6823 G day mate I couldn't be more happier with the bike, I had a Drz400 before this bike and luv the way the WR handles and the power it has. I haven't played around with the tuner app yet as I want to put more km on it before I do, it lifts the front wheel in fourth no worries and in fifth with a little tug of the handlebars.

I was loving the bike but hating the snatchy throttle 😢 made it unenjoyable to ride in the slow stuff but wow it’s a completely different bike and so much easier and enjoyable to ride now but still pulls with heaps of power if you give it past half throttle but so soo smooth now off the bottom and no snatchy jerky lurching when feathering the throttle anymore 👌🏻😊👍

Throttle yep i had already ordered a throttle tamer and it only just arrived in the post today 😍💪🏻👌🏻😊👍 the airbox mod tho worked really well for a simple free mod 👌🏻
I’ve looked for the hollis map but can’t find it anywhere in the power tuner app format 🤔👍

Throttle i think the 2018 was a soft map switch... its now a second map switch so you load two different maps and switch between them 😊👍 I’ve tried and liked the Torque map they pre load on the WR450FX model 👌🏻
But would like to find more tunes to try 🤔

Just picked up my 2019 wr450f last week. After a couple mods to the bike like replacing the throttle stop screw with a smaller one, comp ECU and removing the restrictor, it is definitely safe to say that this is one bad fucking machine. So much power!!!! Also very cool to ride at night with a functioning tail light and headlight!
Hunter did you remove the intake snorkel and exhaust cork?
arnold prieto yes I removed the intake snorkel and instead of taking the exhaust baffle out I decided to just throw a fmf 4.1 slip on it without the dB restrictor.
Hunter do you get a glowing header? im asking because everytime i go ride and come back its night time and i notice my header glowing a little is it normal? will i break the engine? im just worried😭

I have a 2018 and I absolutely love mine
for shore my 18 has fmf pipe and the most aggressive mapping available it absolutely rips and is like a motocross bike awesome bike I love its throttle response my riding style is riding of the back wheel which you need throttle response this is why I can’t stand the power of a husky or ktm might as well ride a posty bike around

I have the yz model i did find that i needed a lower bar set but i didn't think about a taller seat till now that would make the feel in the corners a lot better so you can sit up a bit taller when cornering to get you body over the front

no doubt the new wr is awesome I had one ordered and waited months only to buy. A 18 model the old platform because I got sick of yamaha moving the goel post when the bike would be for sale if they spent as much effort into getting regulations right and thinking of there customers as they do with there marketing I would of got a 19 model the release of this bike has been botched by yamaha they should hang there head in shame it is a joke
don’t take any notice of someone that has ties to yamaha it’s just Yamaha’s marketing approach .
but saying that I don’t have a bad thing to say about the bike it is awesome
