Nothing but respect to someone like you whose smart, driven and is going to get where you want. I love talking to people like you who knows a lot about something I know nothing about (I'm a numbers guy). PS: great video!
habibi i m so proud of you ,you are an inspiration thank you so much for the vidéo , you deserve more than just support , i m 1st year general surgery resident from morocco , i love you and i which u all the best
@ Thank you for answering. I thought it was your beautiful mother. Emotional. That embrace and seeing both of your reactions towards each other you will always have in your heart and on video. That was the best part of your video and the great respect and kindness you show to your mother. To have her there on stage with you to hear the wonderful news made her heart very full. Very proud of you.
Second year student here. Never been on your channel before but after seeing the keffiyeh in the first 30 seconds I gotta root for you. Congrats and free Palestine!!
Hi Ahmad, i used to watch you years ago when you started medical school and recently you just crossed my mind and i searched for you but didn't find your channel (couldn't remember your name) all i remembered was that his very handsome with curly hair 😅. Only for TH-cam to show your content on my feed!!! And you're now in residency??? Insane! Super proud of you, even tho i don't know you. Much love from Nigeria ❤
Mabrook brother! Used to watch your videos when I was a premed studying for the mcat. Now I'm an M1 so it's crazy to see this. If you have time, could you make a video on Step 1 and Step 2 prep suggestions/things you would've done again or done differently? As well as what you recommend doing in terms of extracurriculars if aiming for similarly competitive specialities? Would love to see your input on this matter. Cheers
I'm currently in pharmacy school as a first year student, watching your videos have definitely inspired me to be more consistent with my anki and to increase the hours that I study because similar to medicine, pharmacy residency or fellowships are extremely competitive because of the fact that most pharmacists want to specialize and avoid working only in retail, Thank you for your tips!
This is an amazing insight into what the media field takes. I'm not even someone who was remotely interested in medicine and this looks daunting. However, I would really like to see video on why med students go through all this... what puts you through to your end goal? After you're a doctor, do you get more free time? I'm just wondering why all the sacrifice on personal time if you don't get any person time after becoming a doctor as well. Or is that not necessarily true?
You are most correct I'm in premed just starting after being in the corporate world since the covid lockdowns in Brooklyn.I wish you the best in medicine to help people .We come into medicine to help people nothing else .We stay out of politics anything that would offend other people.I understand its painful but we as doctors and and medical students are the the cream of the crop best of the best.We are above politics the only purpose is to help other people.
No idea how I ended up on your channel but im happy i did i find a lot of your videos interesting minus the 6-10 hour study ones...lol But pretty cool videos, also you have really nice eyes.
how many hours a night do you sleep? I ask this because not sleeping can have a huge impact on your working memory and brain fog. i always wonder how much I should sleep a night to maximize my study time.
I’ve seen some really dumb people match Derm, one of the highest ranking in Nepotism (not saying that’s you), but the match has A LOT MORE to do with who you know when it comes to competitive specialties.
as a md do you know Noonan syndrome as much as people dont know it as a md. i fell like i shoud try firefighter i know a lot of meaitcle stuff becuse i have a lot and it is so hard to dinost and have to take medicinen in my life. BE MY DOCTERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Bro went to the mayo clinic for medical school, you would have matched no matter what after that single step. What is your schools match rate to their primary specialty? its 100%
Going to a school like Mayo is absolutely an advantage. That said, our match rate isn't 100%. In 2023 Mayo's derm match rate was actually less than 50%. No guarantees, no matter what school you go to (though again, it is an advantage)
@@AhmadShahin you're saying that your class went maximally 6/13 or 6/14 in the match for derm? I went to a far lower ranked USMD program and i believe we went 6/7. This is very surprising to here if its true
@@swuggerman Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, as a whole institution, while supposedly being ranked #2 right after Johns-Hopkins, which I've also been too, is an absolute joke. If saw someone who did residency at Mayo or actually is a an established working doctor or specialist at Mayo, I'd run away. I went there 3x and each visit covered 5-6 different fields and subspecialty fields of medicine and the doctors/specialists we're absolute morons...same for Cleveland Clinic which is the #1 heart hospital in the country/world. It would be laughable it not so horrifying and that this place is almost the top hospital in the country and worldwide.
Why Derm is so demanded ? I guess because of cosmetic procedures right ? Then plastic surgery must be much better doesn’t it gather the money and lifestyle and all the procedures dermatologist are not prone to do ?
This process is freaking disgusting people just want to be doctors to help people man. All this kissing up to people and having to do all these seemingly unnecessary things just for a spot is crazy to me . If you went through med school , passed the tests , I think you deserve a shot to be the doctor u want to be no matter what it is . If spots are limited and you don’t get in thats understandable but if it’s any other reason it’s just ridiculous
Damn man. Don't get me wrong, you're eventually going to make enough money to be set for life, but this all seems like such a rat race. You do all this insane work to get in the field, just to then work 12hrs a day 6 days a week. Crazy.
Ain’t gon lie bro, I’m not working that hard lol. Honors don’t matter. Step 2 matters. Connections is the biggest thing and making sure you go to meetings in your specialty you are interested in
He’s back! Thank you for a great video! 💛

you do get some more time after residency but it's generally a tough job regardless. Passion keeps us going :)

Respect to you for not giving up. So many med school TH-camrs quit and make $ off of MCAT courses.
Congratulations!
omg good luck! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Being mediocre is ok with these added attributes: make connections, be likeable and make a good impression.
good hearing from you bro
Thanks for the insight
Ochem exam 3 this week. This video came at a perfect time 💪

Any good anki decks for STEP1
Does having a strong social media presence in medical school get looked down upon by residency adcoms?
Absolutely expect them to look into your social media and ask them tough questions. It can often times be a negative but not necessarily
