Great video again! I am sure you know this already, but instead of doing copy, paste in place and then object/transform/reflect, you can directly use the reflect function and click "copy" instead of clicking "ok". It saves the copy/paste in place steps!
I was curious what the benefits of using a mask over just a straight gradient were. Come to find out, when you have a broken shape like that X, even when merged together, it applies the gradient to each piece separately. Using this masking technique allows that gradient to move across the entire object, even separated pieces - nice tutorial!
Nice tutorial, but a much better way of doing this is by using a gradient with one end being transparent. < This method means it won't matter what color the background is. Also no need for a mask.
So glad I found this channel, I've been using photoshop for years but only in the last year I've been hearing the benefits of using Illustrator. However, I'm stuggling to get my head around it, mainly because I'm so comfortable using PS. I have a logo, but I need to turn it into a vector. I want to trace around it (copy it) englarge it, and save as vector. Could you offer some advice? What are the best tools to use with Illustrator.
how to save the file properly so the reflection doesnt change? when i saved it, my reflection became a full picture again. I suppose there is this color mode involved(rgb, cmyk)
