At that point in his career, specifically with that team where you already have an inefficient iso player like Russ, coming off the bench was the best option for him. It would've allowed him to play his game without having to change much, he would've still gotten starter level minutes and it would've been mostly against backups who he could absolutely cook. PG and Melo play the same position and PG was just a better option at that point. More versatile, efficient and he didn't always need the ball in his hands to be effective. He took the money from New York and ran. They gutted almost half of the team to get him in New York. The funny thing is if he'd have waited a year or two, he would've had another opportunity in Denver in 2011, with Kobe being knocked out in the first round. Sometimes, the grass is not greener on the other side. Sometimes, it's ok to stay put. And now, Carmelo is on this "bitter old man gripe tour," talking to anyone who will listen.

I loved Melo's prime. He was in the top 5 scorers in the league for many seasons.
But he was always a defensive slouch and an attitude problem. He had squads in New York and Denver that were easily good enough to make a deep playoff run. Ultimately, having your top player not have the leadership skills and two-way play required to do it was too much for those teams to overcome.
Now he is acting like a little bitch complaining in the media because he knows his career didn't amount to much.
Melo it isn't everyone else's problem. It wasn't everyone else's fault. And your attitude right now is exactly why you never won anything.

He wasn’t even a great scorer. He was an overglofied role player

If Carmelo hit the gym hard.. he would’ve been better than Lebron.

I know a Lotta hoop heads don't care but Melo got a college national championship and then had a successful career in the league, there's really not a lot of those

Unless you’re Michael Jordan who can tear up defenses, Melo was passed his prime and was inefficient one on one player. He got his numbers but the 🏀 was stuck so much. The ball sticks, and never moved which makes it easier to have defenses key in on you. Plus Phil believed in team play, melo was an individual player who never really made a lot of effort into making his teammates better.

As a Knicks fan, Melo’s story is nothing but tragic

Its because he never evolved his game. He was an iso scorer when he started, he was an iso scorer when he quit. Could shoot, from 3 relatively well. The game moved away from iso ball and he never got the message.

His enormous ego doesn't let him realize he's not the second coming of MJ.

Legacy was tarnished the moment he bitched about his jersey no.

Carmelo Anthony...A classic case of very limited self awareness. Didn't realize the privilege he had of playing pro basketball! Selfishness did him in.

U shoulda adapted your game and became a good role player, but all you ever wanted to do was be a ball hog

    Wrong, it's about the team.
