Absolutely we are still only in ''year 1 of a major rebuild'' but the facts only remain it was a spectacularly poor performance & a very collective one at that, with O'Riley being the only star of the show in the first 45 minutes & he had to be with Invisible Man McGregor reverting back to what he always does best, going invisible when it matters most & Rogic who was almost invisible against lowly Raith Rovers & then went completely invisible against Bodo.

Absolute good analysis. Over 3 games against Rome in about 6 months, Bodø har 2 wins and a draw , goalscore 10-4, They also just beat AZ Alkmaar over 2 games reasently to reach the quarter final, and beat Mou once more at home in Bodø. Looking forward to the "rumble in Rome" on thursday. As this pod says - the reason is the same teambuilding Celtic has just started.

Whatever the outcome it's gonna be a good show. All respect to a team of your history, its allways a fun to play against a team of your caliber. @@RedScotland i don't know about swatted aside, remember this Bodø team absolutely destroyed Roma in a way Roma had never been destroyed before. Make no mistake about it, Bodø is a pedigree team with lots of football history and an amazing culture. There are some players on the team that are destined for big leagues, like Solbakken on the rw. He really is of high international standard and there are several others too.
So, sure Celtic should win if you take it on face value.. but Bodø is on a flow atm, brimful of confidence. They are very fit and physical. Also they play a football style that is similar to Liverpool, high press and intencity 433.. so they always create loads of chances and they score shitloads of goals.
So.. they create problems for absolutely everyone and in order to beat them you have to score goals.

No disrespect towards Celtic or scottish football in general - but just to put things in a perspective:
Bodø/Glimt has fought against Molde FK the last 3 years about the norwegian leauge title (and won the 2 last ones and got second in 2019 when Molde won) Molde on the other hand has been a top team in Norway for several years, and have won the leauge in Norway several times the last 10-12 years.
In 2015 Molde played Celtic in Europe leauge both home and away - and how did that go? Molde won both games.

Bodø sold many of their best players that year 2020 and had to rebuild their attack. They have become like Dortmund and Ajax where they do well and sell their best players each year. Hopefully Bodø keeps moving forward and keep their style of play, because it norwegian measurement we haven`t seen this good football since the Rosenborg days 17++ years ago. Imho when Bodø play at their best they are better than any Rosenborg team from the paste.

Every time I watch your podcasts I feel like I am at a University lecture. Keep it up lads. I like analytics.
Celtic have been a little “off”since the second half of the Aberdeen game. The results are irrelevant . Some of their mojo has gone. Getting a reality check from time to time is not so bad.
I guarantee you that Ange will be working hard to bring back the mojo and get a positive result in the return leg of this game.
Bodo deserved the win and it was great to watch a team on a small budget playing great percentage football.
It shows the rest of the SPL that they don’t have to park the bus. It is not a solution and the whole of Scottish football suffers as a result.
The upside for Celtic is that there is a lot of room for improvement and I look forward to the next leg.

I also think Celtic have been a little ''off'' in recent times & I sincerely hope it's not ever a case that for some of them & important players too, & I'm thinking particularly of Invisible Man McGregor & Rogic, that they now have only near completely ''run their race'' as far as this season is concerned & particularly in the context of how we're now fast approaching the business end of it, with a League Title & a Scottish Cup completely up for grabs & they will only be won with everyone firing on all cylinders right up until May & if not....

They were excellent team , we had enough warnings about them particularly from Roma . Their mid field was very smart and skilled players . Our mid field were unimpressive , sadly Rodic was invisible and ORiely was very good . I feel we lacked aggression and bite and given our wingers were off the pace we really played into their hands moreover our left back position is now critical, we need to resolve this issue which has been outstanding for two seasons . I doubt we will qualify now .

He had composer under the press, rapid pace with the ball to breakout of the press, accurate, fast, one touch passing ability, athletic, strong and decent height. Certainly an improvement on Taylor. It was his first game for Bodo after a free transfer in January and he isn't even a left back.

Now he is a russian national. Berg and Saltnes didn't enjoy their football. It was a broke group of players. Now B/G have been ripped off of players since. Nikita has been so good for B/G. Brilliant analysis gents. Alan's insight into the 72 attacking breakdowns says it all. Sometimes you go out on a football field and it just doesn't happen no matter how good or bad the opponents are. Ange actually summed it up himself when he said we were simply not potent enough up front. I think one thing many seem to be missing is little mention of the absence of our new talisman - Kyogo. Like Henrik in the good old days, Henrik nearly always found a way. I see similarities - albeit too early to be sure - that Kyogo can unlock most defences with his movement off the ball, skill and finishing prowess. I also believe Maeda and George will get better and sharper. We can't be great every week. Let's go over there and hump them 0-4!

I was there last night. Horrible, horrible, horrible all around game from us, and the Jose Mourinho time wasting from Bodø soured the atmosphere and definitely affected the crowd not a peep from our bench or players.
We did NOT turn up. The team who were underestimated last night was Celtic, utter pish. We were so slow in attacking that Bodø had time to get into their ultra compact unit time and time again.
As good as Bodo were in their formation, Celtic were so disjointed both on the ball and off it.
We cough "dominated" cough every other metric from possession to the 10-0 on corners, 1 save to 6, 200 more passes mostly between defenders.
We should have been 1 or 2 goals up after 3 minutes.
Our passing was too passive. Our attacking with Jota was poor. Rogic and O'Riley did not work.
Lacked a quality Centre Midfielder( Callum found out again and again in Europe ) with pace or big strides, didn't help with leaving spaces for buses.
4 counter attacks all night from Bodø, with 1 goal lost down to CCV, one with CCV and Taylor and the third Callum skinned on centre circle and was out of position.

True. But, ‘perfection’ in football is a fantasy. Celtic are always going to be ‘limited’ re finances, quality of players etc. Our biggest problem this summer will be trying to hold onto our players, who’ll be getting notes waved in their faces by richer clubs. Realistically, the best we can hope for is attacking, exciting football, occasional wins against the big boys, and winning the domestic league and trebles. The very best we can hope for is a good run in Europe, and I think we’ll get there under Ange.

They see the whole person, and if you as a whole person have it better the player will also do well 😊 There is a former fighter jet pilot that works in a company with counter intelligence. So he can change players and clubs way to work 😊
They have the right people to pick players. If someone rarely misses with What they seek in players are deeply pinpointed and the same people that choose right keep getting it right.

If Taylor is out of his depth will he try Scales or move Juranovic left and start Ralston? Either way it’s definitely Celtic’s weakest area

That's the issue. It's either test out a young inexperienced player there or play someone out of position

@@huddlebreakdown The issue for me is only that Ange did not get a quality left back in last month's transfer window when all of us knows that we needed one & now we only need one even more urgently & if we don't buy one in the summer, then what on earth is that all about, because for sure, Scales, Ralston or Juranovic are not the answer in any way.

Oligarchs and big business have ruined football… Compare Chelsea's disgraceful (£97.5 million) Lukaku performance v Crystal Palace against this tiny team's amazing performance v Celtic.

can we please tone down the drug cheat rhetoric in the comments. very disrespectful without any proof.
bodo are a good team, and have done remarkably well to make the best of the limited resources available to them, by being smart and working hard, as opposed to anything else.
celtic opponants like leverkrusen and even rangers are better teams.
if you have to choose between a conspiracy and a stuff up, as the cause of a problem, you would take stuff up any day.
the lack of high quality decision making at all levels led to celtics demise, and bodo were just good enough to take advantage of it.

It's the easiest option for some unfortunately. Rather accept conspiracy nonsense than the idea their team didn't play well.

Celtic are so poor in Europe. They have been degrading the coefficient for years now.

celtic won possession nearly 60 to 40 % depending on whos data you believe, twice as many shots, somewhere between 2 to 3 times as many attacks than bodo, and thats being generous to bodo by my video analysis, so i am struggling to workout how you manage to lose 3 to1 .
except for a 10 minute period early in the first half, celtic had control.
that 10 minutes , bodo got ahead, and could have had a second, but celtic as alan has pointed out were wasteful.
so in my game journal, this is the sequence of celtic low IQ moments,
rogic chooses the wrong line to hit maeda making a run through the middle,
maeda hits the wrong man going right when 2 other players had more space in the box,
right side attack cross to the far post, when there was a better op near post ,
left side attack, cross to high for maeda,
possession from corner, ball goes right, should have gone left,
this was in the first 5 to 6 minutes before bodo scored. had there been better decision making on any of these occaisions , there would have been high probability scoring ops, and celtic 2 nil up, rather than 1 nil down.
the whole game is littered with these episodes of celtics poor decision making in attack, and not progressing the play when in attack. i could list them all, but you get the picture.
bodo are fast , mobile , athletic side, so they really taught celtic a lesson about transition play from offence to defence , and visa versa, with limited opportunities, because of celtics possession dominance, but they arent leverkrusen , who can hurt you in transition , and dominate possession.
in the 2nd half, you could count the amount of optimisable possessions in celtics defensive third , that bodo had , on one hand, and it yielded 2 goals, celtic had 4 times as many optimisable opportunites in bodos defensive third, and got just 1 goal..
bottom line is even if bodo, exposed some of the transition issues celtic have against mobile fast teams , higher quality decision making by celtic would have meant celtic burying 4 or 5 past bodo, and wiining 5 to 3 , rather than losing 3 to 1.
this has been the issue all season, low IQ in attack, and hopefully its rectified in the away leg.
i will end on my pet subject,
bodos left back was impressive, athletic and fast, so why arent boli or eroghede playing, instead of taylor , and subing for juranovic at times.
