This is a beautiful restoration. You got rid of the tacky color painted roses, and the walnut stain is an excellent choice with the traditional black wrought iron. The details featured in this video, especially the shaping of the wood slats before they were stained, illustrate such a wonderful attention to details that others might have missed. I love watching your videos, and I’m sure your client is very happy with the quality of your work.

Hi Jimmie, it was a discussion I had with my customer and she wanted it back to original. The coloured flowers on the ‘before’ piece were obviously painted by someone DIY style. 😀😀👍

In the States, we have this stuff called Break Free. There are a number of penetrating oils to loosen rusted/stuck parts, and they are better than WD40 in my experience. I enjoy your videos!

We have a similar set of garden furniture. My husband renovated ours two years ago. I lost count of swearing words he used (In finnish language we have lots of them!) The bolt holes were all over the place. So much for chinese quality work!
There are alway one or two sear words coming from my workshop but I normally edit them out 🤣🤣🤣👍

This restoration is amazing! It's such a beautiful job that I just hope they don't put them outside where the rain can get on these beautiful chairs. Hi Lorraine, firstly thanks very much for subscribing, it really helps my channel to continue going. I know for a fact the customer is going to use these chairs outside but I'm confident they will last. The finish on the wood is a waterproof external varnish that is UV resistant so shouldn't need any work doing to them for many years. 😀😀👍

Thanks for giving these a go. I love wood and wrought iron furniture. I can see why someone had been tempted to paint the roses and leaves but they do look much better just plain black. I think it's interesting how the top two roses petals were beautifully defined and the bottom rose was basically a swirl. Now to have someone over for a cup of tea!

Another beautiful piece of artwork, although I must say that I was a little disappointed that you didn't paint the roses and stems. They would have really popped against the black back ground. However, still amazingly stunning.
Thanks. The roses have divided opinion, some would have liked them painting red/green whilst others liked them all black. It’s all down to personal taste I guess, my thinking was that I’ll do them all black (my preference) and if the customer wants to paint them in colours then it would be fairly easy 😀😀👍

Oh my gosh, after hours of work, the chairs look new. Leaving the leaves and roses black was a good decision.

These chairs were so sad and worn, and now they look like new. I've never seen metal refinished, so I got to learn something here. The chairs look quite comfy; I'd spend some serious time bird watching with binoculars and coffee in the morning or gin and tonic in the evening. Thank you for another lovely visit to your shop. Hi Barry. I'm pretty sure the painted flowers were a bit of a DIY job a previous owner had done. They were pretty badly done and with some awful paint. The customer much preferred the all black finish though. Thanks for watching, much appreciated 😀👍
