Not the same band. They lost a fine mandolin player and with that, eschewed their identity. We tried to attend a Stringdusters "concert" in Missoula MT and were blasted out by the heavy metal noise level. Musicianship was outstanding from returning members, but the band has rebranded itself as a performance roadshow with acid rock lights and excruciating pain volume level. Not the Stringduster I followed from their inception. Many of the people in the seats around us were plugging up their ears with that blue putty sound-deadening stuff beforehand that kills the overtones of acoustic instruments, regardless how amplified. wW had to leave halfway through the second number. We are regular concertgoers and never leave early. And sad to say, the Stringdusters, one of my all-time favorite bands, gave us our worst concert experience, ever. It's taken a few weeks for me to even listen to the Stringdusters again. In retrospect, that marks our experience as traumatic. From here on out I'll stick to my early-issue Stringduster CD's, and as a mando player who has been in a couple of local bands, I'll listen to the solos at the volume levels I'd experience if I was sitting in.
I keep loving this. Every time I come back to it, it breaths so deep that I smile all over again. Wish I had been there.
Perfectly put, Richard. I've never heard a more beautiful tune.
These guys are so epic.
I still enjoy this band, but miss them having a mandolin player.
Brandy Cottle Jesse Cobb is an awesome mandolin player! I miss him with the Dusters too. This is a shreading mandolin tune.
I'm with you. Really miss Jesse Cobb
