    Great stuff, I am watching from the perspective of a crew boss/ engine boss. Understanding how everything works within the stack is a real big help.

    Good job Kip. Been there trying to explain to tanker pilots where the head of the fire is beating my head on the side of the glass.

    Way cool! Nice to see that perspective of a fire operation

    Small world... Came across this while looking for Hon's radio programming video, I flew my academy sims with Mark (the pilot) this year

    Academy? Since when? I learned on the job. That seems to be one helluva simulation

    Fascinating! I can't believe I watched and enjoyed it all! Looks like a complex intricate choreography. Would have been even more informative with more description and thought processes and decision rational.

    So the standard crew set up is 1 pilot and 1 Forestry staff member? IOW are there any operations where there's a dual pilot ship and forestry personnel are sitting in the back?

    Still gives me the willies, clearing two airliners into the incident at the same altitude. Don’t understand why they don’t vertical stack in the US.

    probably would help to have bino's on board

    From what I have seen, there are different aircraft for different purposes at different altitudes. I'm not sure what your role is here. Are you the one running the show at the top of the stack?
    Cool video 😎

      @chirpyr6219 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. He is in charge at the top of the stack. Then the retardant tankers 1000 below. And the rotor wing at the bottom of the stack

      In Canada, there would also be a bird dog aircraft picking the targets and leading the tankers and communicating with ground personnel. The airboss on top would have more limited comms with the ground.

    like to see some shots from the ground too.
    Is this a P2V?

      Looks like an Aero Commander. P2Vs retired years ago.

      AC690 Aero Commander

    What aircraft is that?
    I guess you're flying right seat since you're a kind of group leader, not the pilot?
    I assume you passed.

      Something in the Aero Commander 500 family

    Why are multiple speakers overlapping on the audio signal?

    • @sporksable
      @sporksable 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're actually hearing at least 3 different frequencies. The Air to Air, the Air to Ground, and one or more command/flight following frequencies. That's what makes the air attack job so complicated. Talking to the IC, lining out the air resources as they come and go, and communicating with dispatch.

      Tanker 28 Altimeter 3021 cleared in 6500 AA 7500 1 rotor at or below 550O #1 in the pattern working the left flank. Grab the rest of the info when he sees it.

      Pelican1984 you get a salary no matter what. However, if it’s a busy season, you pull a lot of overtime
