    This shotgun series is great info. Series like these are critically useful without being overly complicated or 1 hr in length. Great channel as it always has been!!

    Great job Tim for passing on knowledge for preferred & proper use for the shotgun. You are one of only a few dropping working fighting knowledge for shotgun use.

    I agree with everything you said. Although I think if you are hunting with a pump gun, then a 2 point is acceptable.

    Good overview. I’d like to see info on the quality of slings. Seems that many of them have plastic hardware and that concerns me.

    I have a two point on my auto but it’s awkward and can interfere with combat reloads from a Velcro card. I may very well go with that single point. The shotgun is an overlooked weapon in my humble opinion. Good info thanks to you all.

    • @jago668
      @jago668 ปีที่แล้ว

      I took fighting shotgun, and switched to a single point for this very reason. It makes those reloads way easier.

    • @unclegene5372
      @unclegene5372 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jago668 how is the weapon when you let it go? Or how stable is it when you do other things with your hands?

    • @jago668
      @jago668 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@unclegene5372 It's single point. So not stable like a 2 point. It's going to bounce and get in the way. If you really need it out of the way throw it to the back, short term front works fine.
      I just couldn't get a 2 point setup to not interfere with reloading. I've run SOE, Blueforce, the Warrior Poet slings. The 1 point SOE is what I went for with shottie. I like the 2 point SOE for rifles.
      If you hook the single point up at the back of the stock like on the Magpul furniture you stand a good chance of putting the barrel in the dirt if you're shorter. Just a heads up.

    • @unclegene5372
      @unclegene5372 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jago668 ok thanks for the info. The two point in the front is convenient and I can tighten it to wear close. It’s just the difficulty it causes reloading that bothers me. Will try some different ones. The SOE looks good that rear slot in the magpul is way to far back.

    • @jago668
      @jago668 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@unclegene5372 Yeah it's a matter of where you want your annoyance. Annoyed when reloading or when letting the rifle hang.

    Every long gun needs a sling and should be on at all times so you train on how to use the gun with the sling. I’m opposite I hate single point slings and with basic repetitive motion you can easily train yourself to overcome the downsides on a pump gun mentioned above.
    And what no one talks about when you actually need that gun you want to be able to sling your weapon on your back when friendlys approach but are unsure of who is who. A slinger weapon on your back is an almost instant sign you are you not the bad guy

    Replaced the rear trigger group mounting screw on my Rem 1100 with a quick disconnect swivel cup. Single point sling then mounts there. Works well for me.

    I asked James about a two point to single point, and he gave it the 👍. My reasoning was I could run it as a single point, but if I needed to, I could make it a two point if I need to sling it for traveling a distance.

    Sling is when you are going to be on the move all day. They are totally unnecessary for home defense. They’ll just hang up on something or otherwise get in the way at exactly the wrong moment.

    Is there a Solid way to attach a light to a pump shotgun?

    • @kyle6415
      @kyle6415 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Magpul forend with a rail piece is great, that’s what I have on my 590. You can also get the Surefire forends with the integrated light but those can get pretty costly.

    • @mhicaoidh1
      @mhicaoidh1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In addition to what Kyle suggested, I have had good success with beveling out a spot for a short piece of rail on the stock fore end. Drill two holes for the screws, and fill with 2-ton epoxy. Place screws in holes with rail, and you have a very cheap mounting option for a light. If done right, it holds up to even several magnum rounds.

    Question….
    I have deer hunted all my life with centerfire rifles and I have several different slings on them, and others for them. I recently got into shotguns, and I bought a GForce 12 gauge pump with 28” barrel. It didn’t come with sling studs installed, but I found a Rock Island Armory “different company…..same shotgun” magazine tube cap that has a stud built in, and I drilled the stock an inch and a half from the bottom and installed a stud. The problem is that none of the slings I have are long enough for this application. I have tried about 6-7 slings and they aren’t long enough. I’ve even tried 2 shotgun specific slings and there is not enough room put the sling over your shoulder. Do they make longer slings?

    • @elix5536
      @elix5536 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Magpul MS1 sling is very long and it has a lot of extra thread as Magpul likes to leave extra thread for you to cut if wanted. Bonus is it has quick adjustment and it makes it even longer. idk there are a lot of ways to do slings. But give this a try for length.

    How do I go about installing an SOE gear one point bungee sling on a Mossberg 590a1 that has the Magpul stock, and Magpul forend?

    • @BryceGarling
      @BryceGarling 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Magpul has a metal sling mount that goes between the stock and gun. Replaces that plastic spacer the bolt goes through.
