    Is it just me or does her voice sound nicer when speaking English rather than Dutch?

      Definitely not just you.

      Perhaps the issue is the sound of the Dutch language? To a Dutch ear, her voice is the same.

      hepsabaptron00 it’s not her voice, Dutch is considered very weird by English speakers. I don’t agree with that however, I like the sound of Dutch.

      Her English is very proficient for a Dutch native. Might be that you've noticed the difference in this compared to a random Dutch guy/girl :p

      Gerrit Jaap I do believe it’s not a surprise the Queen would be very proficient in English 🙂 the Queen of Denmark also speaks English very brilliantly

    So I am born and bred in England, my whole entire life. Unfortunately I cannot speak a word of any other language except my own, but I'm pretty sure she speaks English better than I ever could or anyone I know ever could. Respect!

      Well, I am dutch. And we are sort of known for speaking other languages. Badly, usually. But not Beatrix. She was and is the ultimate perfectionist. And when she was a child during the war she grew up talking Engish. She was a great monarch.

    Like 90% of Dutch people, Queen Beatrix' English is first class.

    • @Beun007
      @Beun007 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, wrong! I'm from The Netherlands and can prove you wrong! Queen Beatrix' English is first class but most the Dutch suck due to their horrible accent!

    • @DavidS1164
      @DavidS1164 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Beun007 As a Dutchman myself I can strongly confirm that. The Dutch are indeed easy going when it comes to the use of the English language but their accents are often heavy beyond beliefs. Almost like they don't even try to make it sound right and many indeed don't care.
      Also the construction of sentences is often a direct one on one translation from the Dutch grammar which makes it just sound amusing. So indeed, it's usually not as impressive as its reputation.

      It is so typically Dutch and snobbish to complain about the English accent of compatriots. For the second year in a row the dutch are the best non-native English speakers. Moreover, the dutch accent is very understandable in English.

    Can you imangine Trump giving a speech the way Reagan did, with the wit and charm. And then I used to be anti-Reagan. My goodnes what a charming man. And the queen knows how to act royal.

      If one is seduced by just the sound another person produces, and allows for sentiment to rule, then what does that tell?

      he has many times but the media wont tell you. Trump had very good relationships with the Queen of England, with the Emperor of Japan, the King of Saudi Arabia etc. Trump also had good relations with many prime ministers and leaders. But even when Trump did the right thing (like feeding the Koy fish) the media lied and said he made mistake. You are idiot for believing FAKE NEWS media.

    Now tháts how you give a speech and be presidential! No matter if the president is republican, democrat, former actor or businessman: you need to respect the office that you have been given by the people and fight for whats best for your people ánd for the people in the world. Dont devide: UNITE

    • @Yobbie72
      @Yobbie72 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trump is incapable of rising to the occasion. It's just not in him; he can't help himself. He's no Ronald Reagan.

    • @hanema27
      @hanema27 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right. I just really hoped he would prove us all wrong in our worries when he got elected. Dont get me wrong: I hate Trump, hated him for many years as a businessman and I feel sick hearing him speak as Potus. But the world need a potus to succeed even if the policies are not yours. But he cant help himself, he just cant act warm, caring and not selfish. Gosh.. I really loved Reagans humor

    • @Yobbie72
      @Yobbie72 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't expect him to win. And when a Texan who I worked with told me he had voted Trump, I actually laughed and said, 'You do realize he has no chance of winning, right?' I believed the 95% chance that the polls gave Hillary. But I did say that it was a shame that Trump couldn't have conducted himself in a presidential way, because if you watch The Apprentice, you saw that he was disciplined then (maybe they edited it a lot), and he could have won if he'd risen above it all. To my shock, he did win. And yes, that was the time to put the twitter down, and rise above it all, and act like a winner. If he'd just stuck to the script and kept it above the fray, with the booming economy ,he could have been seen as a success. But Trump is his own worst enemy. Plus, he sowed the seeds to his own destruction by allowing his son and campaign to meet with Russians. This presidency is not going to end well. Reagan would be horrified by it all.
