This is a well thought out video. I would offer a couple of further points for consideration:
    1. The trans fluid may take (much) longer than the engine coolant to warm up. The added transmission temperature gauge in Naughty Truck really drives this point home -- and also shows that it really takes a lot more driving than I would have expected in very cold weather to truly warm up the transmission. The engine thermostat may not open in very cold weather, so the coolant may not lend much if any heat to a transmission cooler that's situated nearby or integral to the radiator.
    2. Drive the car to warm up the fluid, unless you suspect it's critically low. It may not warm up very much just sitting there and idling.
    3. Get a good funnel for this purpose, keep it very clean, and when it's bitterly cold out, keep your transmission fluid in a warm area. Otherwise it flows like treacle, if even that much.
    4. Older cars don't warm up as quickly as new ones, especially if you've got a small engine in a cavernous engine compartment (like a straight six). You may never get there at idle on a cold enough day.

I would check your fluid level. If the fluid level is correct it is time to diagnose the gauge. May not be working correctly.
