- Tatsuru Ichishima is such a legend. He founded Spoon Sports in 1988 and has driven and built some of the most iconic cars in the Honda community. During his visit to the United States recently, he came to visit us at Eimer Engineering, where the Spoon Sports FK8 for 25 Hours of Thunderhill is being built. And for the first time, he was able to check out and test drive my AE86R!

To me, the coolest thing about this video is how humbled someone at Dai’s level is by Ichi-san driving and giving feedback on his car. Dai, you are a legend yourself, so to see you excited that he drove your car is surreal. Congrats on the Spoon team taking #1 in class at Thunderhill 25hrs, also.
The steering fact is gold, every time you'll switch you will remember to not forget now.
Mr. Ichishima is such a nice man. I had the honor to have dinner with him after a track day in Laguna Seca when I worked at Opak racing in 2006. Never going to forget he was asking me how large the steak was in grams and even shared with me. So cool to have him drive your car. Need to get a K swap in my smart and hopefully have him take it out for a spin ….. #goals

I know people will say I'm a hater, but I'd much rather see a BEAMS or a built 3SGTE in this than the CTR engine. Yes it's partially because of all the obnoxious "Honda kids" we have here in the northeast but It also just seems right to use a nice Toyota plant in an iconic Toyota car. Personal preference, that's all lol.
