Great shots Mike! The Keddie Wye is on my list for the next trip to the US , when ever that will be ! Iv'e never seen a train stopped on the bridge before but this was perfect timing. Cheers Gregg.
I was standing next to yo at Portola and at the keddie. As I watched this I pulled my pictures out and yep they are the same, great fun that day. Patrick
@@trainlover123trainsrock yup. It’s still unfortunate UP doesn’t want them anymore but at least they’re going to someone UP knows will do well with the equipment.
This sure must’ve been a unique train to catch, seeing how there’s only a handful of Museum that often take their equipment off their property for use.
Yeap and they were going to scrap it but the public dictated otherwise. People didn't want to see it go. So they repaired it, made some safety modifications and put it back out. But since 2017 I don't think it's moved out of the round house. But at least it's safe from the elements.
@@jordanalexander615It has been moved this year. Being donated to a museum along with the challanger and another steamer. The streamers will be restored to operational use, hopefully she will be to.
Can’t imagine what the crew on the BNSF was thinking as soon as they saw that massive DDA40X
They are probably saying big boy or big Chungus
The BNSF crew we’re probably thinking, “What is that thing, why does it look so long?”
Still love the classic paint of the SP unit with tribute to the steam engine it's profiled after.
And that DD40AX is a beast of an engine(s).
its amazing how modern the DDA40X looks still.....
See look 3 locos, 3 passenger cars, 3 freight cars and 3 cabooses. Now my n scale doesn’t look so goofy after all.
fr bro 😭
rivet counters in shambles rn
That's one big beautiful locomotive !!!
People never ride this big huge locomotive because of this rare locomotive!!!
And it rides again!!
Congratulations!!
Thank you. Great video. Clearly a lot of experience and effort went into getting so many different amazing and interesting vantage points.

Yah maan. You go all the way to Oroville?
That RS3L is lovely!
I had no idea that one of those beasts was in operational condition, but I'm happy to know now!
As of April 2022, the 6936 will be donated to the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America.
Along with 3985 and 5511 right?

@@davidng2336 and they are restoring the two steamers to operation so that’s cool
Spectacular Loco and location!!! 😁👍
Wow! Fantastic video!
Awesome! I saw 1996 through my town.
crazy how large it is. You wouldnt think so by just looking at it alone but sitting next to a SD70 at 20:00 you clearly see that its maybe 30% larger
About 98 feet from coupler to coupler
Cool power the dda40x and sp heritage unit
Man those turbos sound good

Great stuff!!!
Beautiful
UP 6936 AND 1996?! 🤯
Super!
If only there was a good use case for such a locomotive again, but modernized with two 4400hp engines.
The dd40x belong to the museum?
This same train hit a truck in 2000 or 2006 and it did not look good

Reason I'm watching this video is I just read an article put out today that 6936 has been restored to service
what was the route set, I want to recreate this in train simulator, so I need depart point and arrival point
It’s actually already a route in TS the Feather river canyon is the name
9:32 howdy buddy
Too bad the #6936 couldn't stayed in California.
