Thomas train G-scale with RC-controls and battery-power

My grandson is fond of ThomasTrain, so I bought one of the Bachmann brand as a regular DC driven G-scale locomotive.
My garden layout however is not compatibel with electric powered trains since I have two reverse loops and I use only my live steam locos on this garden display.
I once bought an elder RC motor-controller by Graupner, and I recovered some old batteries from a broken laptop.
This was a first attempt before tearing down the locomotive and install this RC controller and battery-power. To be continued.
