I don't get why people criticize him. I mean come on his employees eat a lot so it makes sense for him to go to all you can eat places rather than high end places where he has to spend twice as much.

It's played up for comedy, but yea he is pretty stingy. Korean culture is a bit different from western culture, the CEO/boss is expected to pay for meals often and usually go to fancier or more expensive places to save face.

Dongeun can't eat small portions because her weight would decrease. She can't let her weight decrease for competitions and such so she eats as much as she can. But I agree that she should see if others can eat before eating so much by herself. And I agree that buffets are better for their appetite instead of normal sit-down restaurants.

He gets money and publicity for being on the show and we all know that if it wasn't for the show he wouldn't have been going to different places but just eating noodles in his gym. If you actually notice, the boss dude eats the most anyway and the other guys seemed more into the kimchi and in general just didn't want to eat as much as them. She’s been a part of the restaurant business and she knows how hard it is to make a living. So when he goes to those all you can eat restaurants and orders enough food to feed two football teams while only paying for 5 or 6 people, she starts to sympathize with the restaurant owners who lose out on profit because he’s determined to save a few bucks when he doesn’t need to. I doubt she would be so harsh on him if he wasn’t a celebrity trainer and was just a working dude trying to provide for his family.

I don't know whether it's Korean culture or not but my boss never treated me and other employees for a meal... So calling him stingy is a bit too much cause he'll be the nicest and generous boss ever in my place... Cause when a boss treating their employees to a meal already a big plus but bringing them to a fancy restaurant is A MIRACLE!!!
In Korea, it's expected for bosses and sunbaes to treat you (as the younger ones). It's rare to hear bosses tell their employees to hold back when ordering for a meal, in fact one of the most common phrases to hear is "order more", and it's considered almost negative in a sense to complain about the costs when treating someone (?), don't really know how to explain this. If you ever watched the episode when the fashion boss treats her people out for dinner she goes all out in terms of expenses and they never talk about the cost of the meals (it's more discrete). It's a part of the culture in Asia to never talk about the cost of things when treating someone (even gifts etc...).
It is indeed their culture. The boss and senior (usually male, but as long as they are older or have higher position than u) is expected to pay for the food when you go out together. My teacher said that's why credit card is easier to get there. Because the male's allowance is smaller than what they need to pay in a month. 😂😂😂
My boss buys meals only when it's his birthday also me and my friends always split the bills or pay our own meals. Good thing we don't have that kind of culture bcs It would be burden for some people if he/she is a boss or older ones have something more important to pay.

As well it's usually only applicable for situations you state you are treating them. so you explicitly have to say "this is on me", if not then it's expected that everyone takes care of the bill themselves (unless it's a company-made event like company Christmas dinner, then it's on the company)

Yall who criticised the boss have to reconsider about his monthly expenditure especially with his employees who eats more than regular people do. Imagine having to pay for their food if they have to eat at expensive restaurants all the time. There's nothing wrong with buffets and all you can eat restaurant as long as they're eating decent food. Also, a boss like Mr Yang is very rare who treats his employees fairly and even treats them with good food. I'm curious abt that too. Tbh, I've worked for some Korean companies, and yes, if they have company meals, the boss will pay. But, a big big but here, they only have company meal some times per year, only on special occasions/ holidays. In this show, even when there's no special reason, the boss takes them out for meal and help them bulk up. I mean, bulking up for competition is their responsibilities. Just like when you go to the gym for bulking or cutting, what you do in terms of diet is in your hand.

She runs a fancy cooking school where she teaches the most traditional Korean cuisine, the stuff Kings and Queen ate. And she also treats her employees to that kind of fancy food. She works her employees hard but rewards them well. She also has a large crew but treats them really well. Yang boss doesn't make as much money as she does and his employees are people who eat a lot. So he picks all you can eat.

I don't understand why people are hating on her so much. Yeah she eats more but like there are other aspects to her like minus if there's just no meat in her food, she never really complains about her boss unlike the rest of the group she is also very thankful which she says a lot and tbh she probably pays for most of her breakfast lunch and dinners. Yep. He eats just as much as she does and more (but only she gets the hate). All his employees get to eat as much as they want. They all get stuffed, it's just that she can eat more than them because of her extremely high metabolism. The negative comments would make you think the others are starving because of her, which is just not the case. I don't understand the hate either.
It's more of being considerate to the people you are eating with. Asians eat communal, so all of the food are shared at the table. I was taught that it's rude to eat the whole dish by yourself without letting anyone else try it. If you notice from this and previous episodes, Boss Yang lets his staff eats first before he eats. For Korean bbq food, he's the one who cooks the meat for his employees. He knows that he eats a lot and want to make sure his employees eat what they want before he eats. While Dongeun goes in first and grab big portions of the stuff she likes without checking with her colleagues if they also want to eat that specific dish as well. This would be seen as rude and inconsiderate...especially since she's not the one paying.

This is my first time to click the dislike bottom. I'm just sad to know and how they criticize Mr. Yang for being practical and at the same time a good leader. He's a good leader, manager, instructor to he's employees and other peeps around him. He's ust being practical not because he just want to save more money just for himself but also because he want to save the gym and his employees.

Reading the comments below, it seems many viewers are unhappy that Yang keeps getting called stingy and a beggar. Personally, I like that about him. Being a conservative business owner means you can redirect resources towards other things, such as hiring new employees, upgrading gym equipment, opening a new branch, etc. Its become part of his core character. Like he explained in an earlier episode, a former close employee was stealing money under the table. Changing wont come easily to him because of this. It's become one of the running gags of his part of the show. I love when he goes into beggar mode. Watching him shovel down so much food so fast is fun to watch.

People need to understand, these "employees" are incredibly qualified and win competitions while representing the gym. Other gyms like the Gimpo one shown treat their employees to lavish meals. Despite not being treated to as luxurious meals they choose to stay and work for Boss Yang, they obviously respect him a lot but are comfortable enough with him to joke around.
People need to use their brains doyeon has a very high matabolism and so needs to eat a lot to maintain her wiegh as she is training for a competition at the moment also boss yang will get a cut of her wining money when she wins the competition so he is investing in her yes she could have letthe new people eat first but I'm pretty sure that she thought it would be fine because they to are athletes in a sense and so would understand why she would have to eat so much. With Boss Yang's grumpy reaction, I assume there might not be a similar tax benefit for businesses in Korea that's as generous as 50%. But I agree that she should see if others can eat before eating so much by herself. And I agree that buffets are better for their appetite instead of normal sit-down restaurants.

She’s been a part of the restaurant business and she knows how hard it is to make a living. So when he goes to those all you can eat restaurants and orders enough food to feed two football teams while only paying for 5 or 6 people, she starts to sympathize with the restaurant owners who lose out on profit because he’s determined to save a few bucks when he doesn’t need to. In Korea, it's expected for bosses and sunbaes to treat you (as the younger ones). It's rare to hear bosses tell their employees to hold back when ordering for a meal, in fact one of the most common phrases to hear is "order more", and it's considered almost negative in a sense to complain about the costs when treating someone (?), don't really know how to explain this. If you ever watched the episode when the fashion boss treats her people out for dinner she goes all out in terms of expenses and they never talk about the cost of the meals (it's more discrete). It's a part of the culture in Asia to never talk about the cost of things when treating someone (even gifts etc...).
It is indeed their culture. The boss and senior (usually male, but as long as they are older or have higher position than u) is expected to pay for the food when you go out together. My teacher said that's why credit card is easier to get there. Because the male's allowance is smaller than what they need to pay in a month. 😂😂😂
My boss buys meals only when it's his birthday also me and my friends always split the bills or pay our own meals. Good thing we don't have that kind of culture bcs It would be burden for some people if he/she is a boss or older ones have something more important to pay.

As well it's usually only applicable for situations you state you are treating them. so you explicitly have to say "this is on me", if not then it's expected that everyone takes care of the bill themselves (unless it's a company-made event like company Christmas dinner, then it's on the company)

I'm curious abt that too. Tbh, I've worked for some Korean companies, and yes, if they have company meals, the boss will pay. But, a big big but here, they only have company meal some times per year, only on special occasions/ holidays. In this show, even when there's no special reason, the boss takes them out for meal and help them bulk up. I mean, bulking up for competition is their responsibilities. Just like when you go to the gym for bulking or cutting, what you do in terms of diet is in your hand.

She runs a fancy cooking school where she teaches the most traditional Korean cuisine, the stuff Kings and Queen ate. And she also treats her employees to that kind of fancy food. She works her employees hard but rewards them well. She also has a large crew but treats them really well. Yang boss doesn't make as much money as she does and his employees are people who eat a lot. So he picks all you can eat.

It's more of being considerate to the people you are eating with. Asians eat communal, so all of the food are shared at the table. I was taught that it's rude to eat the whole dish by yourself without letting anyone else try it.
If you notice from this and previous episodes, Boss Yang lets his staff eats first before he eats. For Korean bbq food, he's the one who cooks the meat for his employees. He knows that he eats a lot and want to make sure his employees eat what they want before he eats.
While Dongeun goes in first and grab big portions of the stuff she likes without checking with her colleagues if they also want to eat that specific dish as well. This would be seen as rude and inconsiderate...especially since she's not the one paying.

This is my first time to click the dislike bottom. I'm just sad to know and how they criticize Mr. Yang for being practical and at the same time a good leader. He's a good leader, manager, instructor to he's employees and other peeps around him. My thoughts in the other video have been confirmed!!!! I literally said maybe the MC's think the way he eats is beggarly like, so that's why they call him a beggar. Reading the comments below, it seems many viewers are unhappy that Yang keeps getting called stingy and a beggar. Personally, I like that about him. Being a conservative business owner means you can redirect resources towards other things, such as hiring new employees, upgrading gym equipment, opening a new branch, etc. Its become part of his core character. It's become one of the running gags of his part of the show. I love when he goes into beggar mode. Watching him shovel down so much food so fast is fun to watch.

Y’all keep forgetting that this is a “tv series” based on “characters”. Each person has to maintain their “character” to make the show interesting. Guess what? It’s working! Everyone tunes in to watch Dongeun eat. That’s her role in this segment... to be “the eater”. She is supposed to “out eat” everyone as that’s what she’s known for on this show. Everyone identifies her as the one who eats the most. Therefore, y’all need to cut it out with that “she should be considerate” blah blah. That is a given in real life situations and settings. HERE, they are shooting a TV segment that has to maintain their storyline. I think it’s highly annoying AF for people to complain as if she came to your house and ate all your food or something. It ain’t that serious 🙄 get over it or find something else to watch. People (including her cast mates) find her “eating” amusing and she is a big contributor to the ratings of this segment. People come here to watch her eat! So lay off her!

People need to understand, these "employees" are incredibly qualified and win competitions while representing the gym. Other gyms like the Gimpo one shown treat their employees to lavish meals. Despite not being treated to as luxurious meals they choose to stay and work for Boss Yang, they obviously respect him a lot but are comfortable enough with him to joke around.
People need to use their brains doyeon has a very high matabolism and so needs to eat a lot to maintain her wiegh as she is training for a competition at the moment also boss yang will get a cut of her wining money when she wins the competition so he is investing in her yes she could have letthe new people eat first but I'm pretty sure that she thought it would be fine because they to are athletes in a sense and so would understand why she would have to eat so much. For me, he's the best boss👍 He know when to be strict, when to nag and mad at them, when to joke around. He even bought them meals and food countless. He help his trainer to achieve their dream♥️ while my temporary workplace boss always look down on the field I am studying and my ambitions. He drained my mood and energy. So, I asked to quit my job. And now, he is looking for more part timer and ask me to work again. Sorry, but no sir. 😉

With Boss Yang's grumpy reaction, I assume there might not be a similar tax benefit for businesses in Korea that's as generous as 50%. It would be nice if there was since it seems culturally common for bosses to treat staff
