    This is a very touching performance and one gets a chilling feeling from the clicking of the tipple’s mechanism, from watching the men inside the man lift cage descend into the mine shaft and hearing the accompanying echoing sound. Wow

    Made me cry. I always said I’d get through this video once I realised my obsession was over. Today, after talking about how Billy Elliot is coming to my local theatre, I realised I never did watch this whole video. I remember about 6 months ago, I tried watching it but I got too emotional. I thought I could take it today, but it still made me sad. Something I had listened to at least 1000+ times. It made me so happy. But now it’s done. Thank you for posting this.

    Thanks for posting this, I have shared this video on our Facebook page.It was an amazing experience for our band especially as amateur players, this experience will never be surpassed in my view.To appear on the West End stage is a massive deal and I think the band surrounding the miners as they march back to work was especially poignantDo you have any footage of us playing Abide with Me?

    Wonderful, thank you! The scene where Mrs Wilkinson (Ruthie Henshall) says goodbye to Brodie, Nat, Thomas and Euan would be great. And the brass band with Abide with me would be great, too.

    we saw these guys in may at Vancouver, I really liked it, honestly I prefer the audience there, they didn't clap till the end so it didn't get in the way of the singing

      The British generally are pretty quiet and respectful audiences. They just clapped here because the miner's band from where Billy Elliot is set came on, which isn't normally in the show, as this was the final performance. This period of time's a pretty significant part of our recent history for Britain, so it probably meant a lot for the audience that the band were there.

      At least you weren't part of an American audience.

      @@catrionaclarke1800 That and the last performance often has more clapping as the people who really love the show go, including lots of cast family.

    It's a magnificent scene, but I just wish Lee Hall hadn't written 'COLD as hell'. It's hot down a mine, and Hell is always thought of as hot.

    • @nikkonikkoshite
      @nikkonikkoshite 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      depends on your interpretation, in dante's inferno, the bottommost layer of hell is icy and cold.

    • @hermoglyph2255
      @hermoglyph2255 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nikkonikkoshite Thanks, an interesting reply, but irrelevant. Hell is hot, in everybody but Dante's imagination. I think Lee Hall is a brilliant dramatist - have thought so ever since I heard Spoonface er, um, on the radio years ago. But I think my nit-picking criticism stands. If it doesn't bother most people, that just shows that Mr Hall, believe it or not, knows his work better than I do.

      @@hermoglyph2255 oh? You've been to Hell? Give me the hook me up with your travel agent. Maybe next time you're down there go ahead and take some pictures so you can show me.
