The Sox line up gets more power back tomorrow with Tyler O'Neil coming back..Its a good thing too...right now we need a touchdown and a field goal just to stay in games
Yeah! I just notice to many pitches up in the strike zone. The sweeper is a good pitch.. the secret to the sweeper is when you miss the strike zone.. miss low.. because it is more difficult for the hitter to gage if it is a low strike or not.
I remember back in the 70's. The Boston Red Sox were a powerhouse. The American League East had the big 4. The Yankees, the Red Sox, the Orioles, and after the 77 season, the Brewers. Jim Palmer was a lethal pitcher. Jim Rice was a beast with the bat, so was Freddy Lynn. Seeing these two go at it like this brought back those crazy days back in 1978, 79, 80, 81, and 82. Power, power, and runs galore.
GREAT memories - Thank You - Also Jim Rice and BAL's Eddie Murray were always dueling it out for Batting Titles. Remember when the newspapers used to have the Batting Leaders tables every day and Rice and Murray were always at the top in the AL...?? Great times before cell phones, etc. ps. always left the house with dimes for pay phone calls...and baseball tickets were affordable for regular working people AND their families...I am in NYC area and took my daughter and neighbor/classmate boy and his dad to see METS last year...each ticket was $105 + parking, tolls + food and drinks (no beers) and shirts (non-real MLB variety shirts)...it all added up to well over $700
Was thinking the same thing. Those late 70s Red Sox offenses could put up some crazy scores, but the pitching was so thin! They threw poor Bill Campbell's so much in relief, I thought his arm was going to fall off.
That might have been the best advert for baseball I've ever witnessed. Happy I'm a Sox fan, coz being on the short end of that game has to feel gutwrenching...
I don't disagree, but the costs at the deadline were INSANE. Who in the playoff hunt got a GOOD starting pitcher that moves the needle???? The Astros got......Kikuchi. And gave up 3 prospects including Loperfido. The Dodgers got Flaherty, who had been hurt recently and is a free agent for 2025 The Guardians got Alex Cobb, who had not even pitched yet this season. Martin Perez, Montas, and Taylor Rogers were all moved. Rogers has allowed 12 runs in 14 innings since joining the Os. Perez has been very good for a few starts but is a free agent, and Montas has been mid. This was not the deadline to add at.
With all due respect, Bernandino has been lit up on numerous occasions this season and last, but even with those bad outings, he is better than many Sox pitchers currently on the roster
psyched that Breslow sold off so many prospects to get garcia. Mediocre 37 year old reliever who will be gone in 2 months.. ripp, could've picked up literally anyone on waivers to do the same job and Niko Kavadas just got called up to Anaheim :,(
Even the best teams have off days. Corbin Burnes is one of the premiere pitchers in all of baseball. Not sure where he'll end up but he will demand a MASSIVELY LARGE CONTRACT. So enjoy him now and or hope the Orioles front office will be willing to drop $500-800 million dollars over the next 5-7 years.
@@EdsterIII I'd rather the Os lock up the young future talent like Henderson, Rutschman, G-Rod... I was once interested in the 'family' feel from before free agency. I got over it. Amazing that people still simp for that dude after running himself out of the MLB, the NPB, and not even getting a look by the KBO. The dude is a scrub now stuck in the Mexican Leagues. criswell was shit last night. thankfully we got Tyler O'Neil back. kinda miss dom smith tho he was doing great at first. but bellos pitching tommorow so if the bats keep swinging I think we can win tommorow.
Good thing we made that last field goal to pull it out...Another typical pitching performance...I joked these past weeks that Red Sox need to score 10+ Runs to win any particular game...But, it is sadly true...!! I think we should at least try Yoshida on the mound as a two-way guy, because if he is anything like Ohtani or Yamamoto, our pitching woes are solved (NOT/sarc...!!)

What on earth happened to the red sox pitching? We were so good before the all-star break.
Without Jansen in the 9th we would've been screwed.
Jansen has been our life safer, we would be down a lot more games if he didn’t calm it down.
Jansen is our Golden Pitcher, the best closer in the league, i hope he can win a WS with us.

Get Bauer iIf You Want To Go the Playoffs No more Triple A Pitchers
