I never got into one, so, now I took a ride in it, thanks, beautiful car, the engine is well known to me, from the 250 BWM motorcycle, used for my driver´s licence test for "heavy motorcycles", good ol´times, thanks for the video!
I remember a lady had one of these parked down the street. As a practical joke my uncle and three of his friends picked it up and put it on her front porch.

The original Iseatta was designed by Iso in Italy, it was also built under license in France by Velam with the same two stroke engine than the Iso version. BMW versions like this one were not quie the same, different side and rear windows, and a 4 stroke engine derived from BMW motorcycles...
That looks like a brand new automobile, undercarriage and all. Beautiful example. I have always had a passion for these cars. I have a 1958 Harley-Davidson Servi-car. This 58 Isetta would look good sitting next to it in the garage.
I love these ride-alongs. Such an immersive experience. It did sound pretty cool with that sporty muffler. I think if I were the owner I'd ask you to work on the motor mounts next...
There is no getting away from the vibration in these cars. The single cylinder engine will jar you to the bone. Pretty typical of the Isetta experience. Nice video and nice car!
Wonderful things. Surely someone should be making replicas by now. I know they tried with the Messerschmitt in the UK one time, but these, the Schmitts, and Heinkels are absolutely the dogs bollocks...
Y'know the fact that the Isetta is as cute as anything in the first place really seems counter-intuitive to the bubble window being "much more pleasing to look at" but you are right, it IS more pleasing to the eye. Seems strange to me that such an iconic and instantly recognizable machine can look so different. Dare I say they may have sold more Isettas if they'd built more bubble windows?
David M Relax man, I was making a hypothetical argument that wasn't really all that serious. They wouldn't have sold more Isettas because Isettas were from the age of massive chrome and huge fins in the US (those were practical), that was the type of car that sold then, and in big numbers, not cute little micro cars. The age of the economy car didn't really start in the US until around the first oil embargo and the age of the microcar may not have arrived.... although if the Smartcar is considered a microcar perhaps it finally has.

I see someone saying single cylinder. Well done and "thanks for the memory." Who sang that around about 1958?

Nice car! The steering wheel should be cream colored to be correct. Your muffler isn't the original design but looks nice just the same. Some early '57 Isetta's had the '56 bubble window body like yours but it's definitely not a '58.

This is most beautiful Isetta I have ever seen! I own Isetta of exactly the same type (1955.), but not half so beautiful!

My auntie had one of these in the 70's. It felt dangerous noisy and exciting to ride in then, and looking at one now, I can see why !!
Don't forget they were designed in the time that the average car could only travelled at 60mph max.

Cute. The horn sounded like a Road Runner cartoon. The one my friend's dad had, back in the 50s, also shook like that at certain rpm.

This was an Isetta adopting the Heinkel/Trojan side and rear windows. The Heinkel was a much better looking car.
