      So I did it, and I'm so glad I did. I actually took it a step further and cut it down further on the left side to just above the QD. Helps with getting more purchase on the slide to lock it to the rear. Only negative I'd say is having the optic reciprocating with the slide makes it a little more difficult to track the dot between shots with it being so close to your eye

    Slingshotting off the dot should be fine. If it's not ripping the charging plate off, the optic isn't going to take it any worse.
    The second I started putting red dots on my pistols, I started using them as charging handles. Haven't broke one that way yet. Other ways, yes.

  • @InexorWoW

    If you wanted a charging handle, it seems possible to cut the left side lower and use Strike Industries' charging handle that replaces the striker plate.

      that would be a possibility and if you decided to keep it a dedicated flux that could be a good solution BUT I'm keen on keeping it swappable between flux chassis and p320 chassis so for me a no go:)

      Stop recoil spring for me BUT I also get my slides milled by Jagerwerks. They cut a top window AND serrations across the top. It's not a lot BUT I think it brings the slides mass down just enough where it functions perfectly for me using single port PMM comp and 9mm 115 white box ammo. So, I think it has less to do with your grip and more to do with slide mass.

  • @InexorWoW
    @InexorWoW 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I've had first round from cold be high-right off target with the chassis mounted optic, I just don't think its an accurate way to mount an optic to the P320. Likely unrelated, but there's even vertical play in the front of the slide (same with the factor grip module) so I just don't trust the accuracy of a chassis mounted optic.
    I've got the plate needed to mount a 509T on the way and I'll be doing this mod. Also makes it a lot more concealable which is half of its purpose. I have a P320x5 that I dropped into it, so better meeting the purpose too since I can swap it back into its grip module if need be and keep the optic.

    • @TacticalFellowship
      @TacticalFellowship  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      this Bruh is exactly why I went this route and I think you'll like your end result;)

    • @InexorWoW
      @InexorWoW 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TacticalFellowship I did it, got the optics plate for my P320x5 to 509T today and did the whole mod (did the top chop like 2 days ago), zero it tomorrow afternoon. I first tested at 25yrd and 50yrds, and 100yrds wasn't feasible with the chassis mounted optic. Noting, I can even shoot my makarov, TX22 and PSA 5.7 at 100yrds from draw no problem, so I would expect that kind of accuracy out of a PDW. My targets just being IPSC steel, so if I can reliably hit that at 100yrds with a handgun, I'm happy.
      So far, there's absolutely no compromise to comfort and the optic height. The 509T with its plate sits pretty high compared to others, so that might be to its advantage compared to even the RMR. I used CHPWS's plate like I always do to adapt optics cuts. I tilt my head to get lower on it compared to putting it way up at the collar bone, so far, but we'll see how I end up shooting it.
      I'll include an update after coming from the range. I hope the first shot inaccuracy is solved since I doubt its an issue with the P320x5 slide. It very well could be a problem with my PA SLx 1x, but I doubt that since those things are bomb proof.
      Some more info on this mod that you didn't mention, the back cap is save-able, but you need to retain the little semi circle since that's what it uses to lock into. If you cut it flat up until about 1cm to a diagonal and don't touch the whole rear section, its retainable. Otherwise, its possible to just melt it in place. Whether or not that is necessary, I don't know, but just an idea. Having the back wide open isn't likely to be an issue unless its suppressed.
      My dremel doesn't have variable speed (should probably buy a new one at this point, mines like a decade old) and it was easy to melt.
      I tried to keep the sides as high as possible, but I did need to make sure it was lower than the optic's plate. The 509T is wide than a P320 slide so it overhangs, so making sure its at least that low. Mine still has some of the indents from the triangles for reference.
      I've had red dots on handguns since about 2018, I rack them using the optic all the time and haven't ever seen issues. My first one being an RMR gen2 and I almost exclusively buy holosuns now.
      So far, the top chop I think is a better configuration, and I wouldn't be surprised if SOCOM did it exclusively to resolve accuracy issues past 25yrds. I wouldn't doubt if the Flux Raider is more accurate with suppressors simply because it puts weight on the front of the slight which might make it return to the same position in the frame more often.

    • @InexorWoW
      @InexorWoW 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TacticalFellowship First shot accuracy once I got it zeroed wasn't feet off and was within an IPSC steel target at 50yrds, so was definitely the result of the mount. Though I only got about 70 rounds through before the rear lense fell out of my 509T, so I swapped to my EDC for the rest of the range session. So, I have an RMA for that on the way. Thing is 3 years old and has been on several firearms, somehow just now failing, lol.
      I've bought a new one since the 509T, the RMA'd one will be put back on the AKM I pulled it from. Seems like there's a newer version since the one I ordered is the 509T X2 versus just the 509T that I have.
      I don't think its premature to say that the accuracy issues were involved with the riser mount, which makes sense given the polymer design and poor barrel+bolt to chassis lockup/repeatability.
