I went across Biscay in May 2010, 32 ft boat from cross haven Co Cork Ireland, 5 days of nice sailing until the shit hit the fan off Finestere, lookey to be able to tell the tale.
We have double checkstays, one to keep the mast in check and one to support our solent jib (when used). We did splice one pair a little higher so it can be used for MOB recovery! So for us it serves a double purpose
So "refreshing" to see a sailing video where people admit to seasickness. Q: did you take any remedies (pills?)? So far I've tried proper sailing without pills, and seasickness always ruins the party.
Well, we should have! Rutger was ok till he started fixing something hunched over for a while, that triggered it. In Spain we got some that is called "Biodramina" which is absolutely fantastic, do keep in mind you take the ones WITH cafeïne or you'll be KO for very long! Seasickness is odd, Rutger usually doesn't take anything unless he knows he'll be sailing in 3/4 meter swells on the beam or something. Kim usually takes either just a travel pill or the Biodramina. And besides that: a good strict watch schedule helps a lot, once you lay down it's usually gone and you get atleast 2.5 hours of relief 😀
'ejecting beverage content' .. vink mooi man ❤️

Finisterre can be a hellhole! Carefull timing or going far around it is the way 😉
Are the pulley blocks on each side for MOB recovery?
